what does fetishise mean? Think I like it as a word

joulesspark · 26/06/2009 18:59

Apparantly he requested, rather than being burried or cremated, to be recycled into carrier bags ...

so he can continue to be white, plastic & dangerous to children.

the guardian missed it, so farrah fawcett's death is headline news here

FairLadyRantALot · 26/06/2009 19:23

This morning, as I drive up to my final day at Uni, I heard, all of a suddent...playing Michael Jackson music as a tribute....and I first thought I had misheard, than thought, oh, but they only play tribute to someone who died...and next...oh...is he dead than...
which was soon after confirmed...
whilst I wasn't a fan as such, it made me a bit sad....I know he done some crap things, but, it never stopped me feeling sorry for him, as I thought he was the result of his upbringing and major stress in life with being so famous, etc...and he just wasn't strong enough...
so, RIP Michael Jackson....because he was a musica genius....
and my condolences to those that are grieving for him.

And Slarty...I think that was why I was so to hear about MJ's death this morning...as Frarah Fawcetts death was on the news yesterday....how weird they always die in two's....like Princess Diana and Mother Theresa...

'Erm, isn't this self explanatory? He didn't actually see his 'love' of sharing a bed with young boys as a problem'

DS1 doesn't see whacking two bells out of a child that annoys him as problematic but it damned well is anyway.

And of course he could never possibly lie

It's fine to believe what you want but he was a man like everyone else and as far as I can see most likely suffering some serious psychiatric illness. Because frankly that's better than the obvious alternative.

monkeytrousers · 26/06/2009 19:37

it will all come out in the months and years to follow anyway. Just like the diana circus interest

nickytwotimes · 26/06/2009 19:39

Am I the last person to know about MJ?
I didn't hear about it until a friend at toddler group mentioned it at 4pm!

Bucharest · 26/06/2009 20:30

Then you've been very lucky Nicky

jackadandyz · 26/06/2009 20:46

unbelievably sad news.

thought he was a musical genius, but reading through this lot i'm obviously in the minority.

rip MJ

MK75 · 26/06/2009 20:57

Kerrymumbles speaks her brains...
on Michael Jackson's 'dubious talent' 'manufactured pop' 'not a great performer' ??!??!
What planet are you on? He is possibly the most influential recording artist of the last century alongside Elvis and The Beatles.
Spare us your half-witted lynchmob reactions please

poshwellies · 26/06/2009 20:59

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

bobbysmum07 · 26/06/2009 21:02

If Michael Jackson's accusers had not come from families comprised of serial litigators and professional extortionists they may have had more credibility.

Poor poor Michael Jackson. He spent his whole life surrounded by people who were out to exploit him. Made to sing in strip clubs at the age of 6, paraded in front of the world at age 10 like a performing monkey with grown women flinging themselves at his feet, forced to cover his eyes while his brothers had sex with groupies in hotel rooms he shared with them ... Is it any wonder that Michael Jackson rejected the adult world that subjected him to this at such a young age?

It's heartbreaking what happened to him as inevitable as it was.

Upwind · 26/06/2009 21:10

Now I understand better how the paedophile priests got away with it, and were even protected

MJ - sleb high priest

Woooozle100 · 26/06/2009 21:13

eh? can't we even agree that at least a couple of michael jackson's early records are GRATE and he was brill at dancing?

blueshoes · 26/06/2009 21:16

Indeed bobbysmum.

I wonder whether his dysfunctional childhood had anything or everything to do with how he honed his musical and dance talent into the world class entertainment and business machine that he is/was. His loss (childhood) was the world's gain - some would no doubt disagree.

Jux · 26/06/2009 23:26

I'm sure the way he grew up had an enormous effect on his honing of his musical and dance talent - he really didn't have anything else, did he?

TBH the first thing I thought when I heard the news last night was who owns the Beatles songs now? Did he sell them before or are they part of his estate? Very unfeeling of me and I am slightly ashamed.

Was never much of a fan but he was a fantastic performer - a tortured and eccentric genius. I am sorry he's dead and I'm sorry he had such a shit life.

edam · 26/06/2009 23:28

That's a striking point, Upwind.

poshwellies · 26/06/2009 23:44

I prefer Prince.

bobbysmum07 · 26/06/2009 23:53

I don't understand the comparison with paedophile priests.

Two kids (out of countless others who are now adults and deny that Jackson ever laid a finger on them) made allegations against Michael Jackson. The father of the first kid admitted in a taped telephone conversation that it was an extortion racket (he needed money to finance a film project). The mother of the second was a serial sexual molestation litigator (she was 'sexually assaulted' by a security guard from Sears who had caught her shoplifting).

No wonder Michael Jackson was aquitted on all counts. There wasn't a shred of evidence aginst him.

tiredsville · 27/06/2009 00:25

I remember the jurors saying 'on several occasions they thought the Arvizo(?)family were scam artists.'
I would have to be 101% sure that a man was guilty as an abusive paedophile before jumping on his grave screaming 'death to the pervert'

fanniiminogue · 27/06/2009 00:30

RIP MJ

ino · 27/06/2009 00:33

bobbysmum - I agree with everything you say.
