sad

OP posts:
tiredsville · 26/06/2009 16:47

No, it doesn't make him evil just stupid and over excited. Something a dunce youngster would do when wantng to show off a sibling perhaps?

BunnyLebowski · 26/06/2009 16:47

Not sure who your post is to Velvet but I haven't once used the word evil.

My posts are mere reasons why I fail to see Jacko as some kind of hero or legend worthy of national mourning.

The whole spectacle is vulgar, distasteful and so so SO wrong when there are so many more important things going on in the world.

monkeytrousers · 26/06/2009 16:50

He was an extraordinary entertainer in his prime Bunny. Its possible to see that and also the dark later side.

blueshoes · 26/06/2009 16:54

Bunny: "The whole spectacle is vulgar, distasteful and so so SO wrong when there are so many more important things going on in the world."

Well, what you are waiting for, Bunny. Don't cool your heels on this thread.

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 26/06/2009 16:54

Whilst his music makes my teeth itch, I can still see that it has talent and ability, just not to my taste. I think his creds as a performer are definite (if to me opaque)

monkeytrousers · 26/06/2009 16:58

I mean, this is nothing to what will happen with the passing of Gary Glitter, is it?

HerBeatitudeLittleBella · 26/06/2009 17:01

The baby was definitely dangled. With something over its head. V.odd. Stupid, but not automatically evil.

Mark Lester never did anything big after Oliver did he?

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 26/06/2009 17:04

You know, I think baby dangling is shit. Doesn't make you a child abuser for sure (in the Paedophile sense) but heck I wouldn't choose to be friends with someone who did it.

monkeytrousers · 26/06/2009 17:06

Why is anyone on here even trying to argue if he was or wasn;t a paedo. Like any of us knows for sure.

Why are you locking horns over this?

BunnyLebowski · 26/06/2009 17:07

monkeytrousers - I do acknowledge that he was a great entertainer. Me and my big sis had "Bad" on tape, loved it and used to make up dance routines to it!

But in my opinion he had done everything he was going to in terms of music and his talent was far eclipsed by his disturbing behaviour.

blueshoes - I'm not going to leave this thread and if you don't agree that the death of Neda Agha Soltan is more newsworthy than MJ's then shame on you.

TBH I think he needed a good psychiatrist [sp] he had no childhood himself, and I think he may have seen himself more of a child then a grown man, I think it is very sad.

I feel for his children, I lost my dad when I was 12, and I guess now they could become the objects of nasty custody battles, the youngest one especially.

I think everyone has their own view on him but sometimes it might be better to keep it to them self. Although I am quite sure that bereaved family will not be worried what a bunch of women on a chat board have to say.

I do think the jokes have been in very poor taste, and have been shocked by some of the hate that has been posted. Yes I admit to thinking job well done when they hung Saddam Hussian, but I do not think MJ is quite in the league.

His music was first class, thoughts are with his family, that is all that needed to be said.

blueshoes · 26/06/2009 17:30

bunny, bunny who is comparing what is newsworthy or even interesting? Can't people express regret at the passing of a musical legend not yet 24 hours dead without being impliedly accused of being parochial or frivolous?

You can say that about anything, isn't it. If you don't like MJ, well, you don't like him. No one cares whether you do. Why do you care whether we do?

noddyholder · 26/06/2009 17:43

I don't agree, his behaviour will not be his legacy. That is the one good thing to come of this tragedy his musical genius is the over riding memory here thank god.Nothing could eclipse his musical talent.

HerHonesty · 26/06/2009 18:03

yes there are lots of more "important" things going on in the world, but the point is he helped people forget all that Sh*t. he helped people enjoy life. i have very very fond memories of strutting my stuff at wedding dance floors to MJ songs, priceless moments of happyness.

LyraSilvertongue · 26/06/2009 18:04

Bunnylebowski, in what way is the death of Neda Agha Soltan more newsworthy? I haven't heard a single person mention him today, whereas everybody is talking about the death of Jacko.

LyraSilvertongue · 26/06/2009 18:10

I meant her, obviously.

monkeytrousers · 26/06/2009 18:11

That's just life Dittany

Bunny, like I said on another thread, Iran and its stuggles are forgotten now. That is a moral catastrophy for all the people like Neda who need the worlds attention to stop more state murders.

ItsGrimUpNorth · 26/06/2009 18:31

"In a 2003 interview with Martin Bashir, which was supposed to bolster Jackson's image, the singer said of sharing a bed with a young boy: "It's a beautiful thing.

"It's very right, it's very loving. Because what's wrong with sharing a love?""

Erm, isn't this self explanatory? He didn't actually see his 'love' of sharing a bed with young boys as a problem.

Very, very weird that there are so many parents not only mourning a suspected child abuser but prepared to pounce on anyone else who dares to criticise their idol.

Obviously what is at best inappropriate behaviour with children is fine and dandy if you are a big enough celebrity...

nkf · 26/06/2009 18:37

Somehow he never struck me as the sort of person who would live to be 90. Extreme, excessive, unhealthy life.

monkeytrousers · 26/06/2009 18:38

No Dittany, it's free speech. Disgaree by all means, be offended. People have a right to their opinions even if they don't tally with yours. I don't happen to agree with most people on this thread but I don't want them to shut up or be censored because of it.

BroodyChook · 26/06/2009 18:39

I think the key word is 'suspected'.
