RIP to a musical genius

muffle · 26/06/2009 10:01

I do think you can appreciate someone's great music / art etc whatever suspect things they got up to personally. If we couldn't we'd have to ditch about 90% of the great works of history, that's for sure. With MJ, we don't even know exactly what went on. And he was one of the greats.

Yet I'm strangely unmoved by the news (was much more sorry about Farrah Fawcett). Perhaps because he had such a tragic and messed-up life and seemed unable to live happily, if that makes sense.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 26/06/2009 10:01

This is going to be my last MJ post becuase i am getting ranty.

Please don't forget a man is dead, his family and friends must be devistated.

He was very talented otherwise he wouldn't have the fame he has.

He was never convicted of anything and those that watched the trial will know that there is eveidence to support the fact that it was all bullshit.

I find it disturbing the vile abuse that spills from people brain into thier posts about a man they never knew, they only thing we knew what what reporters and paps wanted to tell us.

MJ had a very bad, troubled childhood, in fact he didn't have a childhood, he had undoubtedly suffered from psycological issues as im sure you all would if you were subjected to what he was in front of the world.

Many people are now put out becuase Farah Fawcett's death has been not so wodley reported and were not hearing about iran, but thats hardly MJ's fault! Im sure his arting thoughs where not, screw you Fawcett and Iran im going to die to push you out of the spot light!.

Many people like him, many people don't but abuse is not nesiccary, im sure we all old enough and have the intelligence to express ourselves without going down to that level.

I will again say though, A MAN HAS DIED, HIS FAMILY ARE SUFFERING.

I think Kimi's sentiment is perfect

the music meant nothing to me in itself nor the man but I have immense sympathy for his siblings and Mother and as I believe they are religious I hope God is with them today, I cannot imagine what it would be like to lose a son

HerHonesty · 26/06/2009 10:03

good call noddy. that and billie jean are my fave running tracks...

sfxmum · 26/06/2009 10:03

I did not like the later years Michael Jackson but that boy and that talent was touching and Thriller was very much part or my younger years

he was one of those people that I always hoped was weird but not a pervert, made me sad to think that really

I think some of the parents who came forward with the allegations really put their children in odd situations and used them to get money

I don't know if he was a pervert or not, given who he was it is quite difficult to know the truth

ilovemydogandmrobama · 26/06/2009 10:09

Are his parents still alive?

Pinkjenny · 26/06/2009 10:13

I loved him when I was a kid, and went to see him at Aintree Racecourse on the Bad Tour. I was eleven, and I remember it as such an exciting day. He largely lost relevance for me as I grew up, but I have wonderful memories of that day.

I was a bit 'meh' when I first heard, but as I am listening to the radio, and all the songs being played, it serves as a reminder of what a wonderful talent he was. I think it's extremely sad for his family, and what he deteriorated to in recent years is no reflection of the legacy of music he leaves behind.

flowerybeanbag · 26/06/2009 10:26

I really don't think anyone could argue with any sort of credibility that he wasn't talented, whatever else they might think....

UnquietDad · 26/06/2009 10:27

I thought the BBC would go to Def Con Diana, but so far they have been suitably restrained, just concentrating on the music and playing one song after every news bulletin. Someone made a good decision there.

cory · 26/06/2009 10:28

Michael Jackson's tragedy, surely, was his life, not his death?

Bucharest · 26/06/2009 10:46

"a man has died, his family are suffering"

Rubbing their hands all the way to the attorney's office, I'd wager.

streakybacon · 26/06/2009 10:46

Poor man, very sad

BunnyLebowski · 26/06/2009 11:13

UQD - "Def Con Diana" heeheehee

ilovesprouts · 26/06/2009 11:33

look if you dont want to hear /read/ see it then dont have tv on etc !!! ffs

womma · 26/06/2009 11:57

I feel sad about MJ, and I don't want to read lots of nasty stuff about him right now.

BunnyLebowski · 26/06/2009 12:00

Well go to his fan site then womma.

People who don't want to join in this obscene national outpouring of grief for a walking freak show have as much right to speak out as those who do.

mum2samandalex · 26/06/2009 12:07

im not sure if MJ was guilty but i do know if it were my children he had supposedly abused i wouldn't have taken no amount of pay off i would of wanted him sentenced and found guilty.
