Yes, now there's a talent and a half...the great Elvis Presley, but we all know he lives on I saw him dharn the Waitrose this afternoon.

Twinklemegan · 26/06/2009 01:04

Well I'm with you on the talent thing - give me Elvis any day. But in terms of following and royalty status, I'd say they were on a par wouldn't you?

I'm more interested just now in finding out whether Jeff Goldblum has or hasn't died on set. Anyone?

Qally · 26/06/2009 01:05

SGB, you did mention "specifically sexual" contact, though, not just boundary-blurring grey areas. Specifically sexual abuse and I don't think the absence of pain/fear you mentioned is necessarily making it any easier on the child, long term.

I don't see that an adult should be engaging in grey areas with a kid either. It's part of the responsibility towards kids IMO. Sharing a bed with an unrelated child, even if it's just for your own emotional satisfaction, is still not okay. A kid isn't really in a position to make an unhealthily clingy, needy adult back off and give then some space. Especially when he's paying their family's rent. But not as damaging as the more obvious (some might say likely) paedophilia, agreed.

I dunno, I just think he was totally screwed in the head by never having any real privacy at all worthy of the name. His life is genuinely tragic. And his poor kids - no mum, no money left, and now no Dad, either. Just famous because of a seriously bizarre conception.

Qally · 26/06/2009 01:06

twinklemegan - hoax, you'll be relieved to hear. It isn't a triple whammy. XD

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 26/06/2009 01:06

JEFF GOLDBLUM IS NOT DEAD.

It was a spoof website.

Pan · 26/06/2009 01:10

and has overshadowed the death of Farah Fawcett-Majors, another 70s/80's icon. Bad/good day for nostalgia freaks.

HolyGuacamole · 26/06/2009 01:10

Interesting, written around 6 months ago

fussymummy · 26/06/2009 01:11

Wonder how long it will take to melt him!!!!!!! lol

myredcardigan · 26/06/2009 01:17

But HG, that article is from the NE which isn't known for it's accuracy. It has probably reported he has 6mths to live once a year for the last 10years!

MarsLady · 26/06/2009 01:34

RIP.

SomeGuy · 26/06/2009 01:48

Uri Geller furiously whoring himself out on to give interviews. Claims to have asked Jackson under hypnosis of he molested kids and Jackson said no.

StealthPolarBear · 26/06/2009 06:23
  • can't believe this
Just put the radio on to hear the news at half past and they were already talking about it
CaptainUnderpants · 26/06/2009 06:55

Wasn't MJ going to get his body frozen when he died to that future medical scinece could bring him back ? !

keep hold of those concert tickets , pass them down the family !

HerBeatitudeLittleBella · 26/06/2009 07:00

rofl at defrosted MJ in 3 centurie's time

tatt · 26/06/2009 07:00

feel saddened that we have a society where people take pleasure from the death of someone they don't really know.

LundyBancroftatemyhusband · 26/06/2009 07:05

This is a disgusting thread. KerryMum, Dittany - you ought to make sure you are right before accusing someone of those things.

It's possible he did bad stuff but you can't know that for certain, and until you do, you're just making yourselves look defensive and foolish. as usual

Sorry to hear he died.

FigmentOfYourImagination · 26/06/2009 07:12

I loved his very early stuff - The Jackson 5, Billie Jean etc.

I think he was a rather tragic man to be honest. I hope he is now at peace.

Biglips · 26/06/2009 07:16

ive just heard about it now and this is gonna be a worldwide funeral.

he died very young didnt he??

prob cos it was the tour he was doing but putting stress on his heart

hes def wacko but he a genius as i so love his songs

tiredemma · 26/06/2009 07:17

Uri Gellers indeed whoring himself out.
He is on GMTV now looking very much like Sacha Baron Cohens new character Bruno.

RIP Michael-

I loved his early stuff

squeaver · 26/06/2009 07:18

Is it bad that my first thought was "he'll do anything to get out of doing those concerts in London" ???

Seriously, those poor poor kids.

tegan · 26/06/2009 07:22

I said the same thing to dh when he woke me to tell me .

posieparker · 26/06/2009 07:23

He was a disturbed man with a faded talent that was once great.
I'm sure all those he 'touched' are delighted that he's gone.

tiredemma · 26/06/2009 07:26

I think Posieparkers first sentence sums MJ up for me.

purepurple · 26/06/2009 07:32

oh dear
what a shame
[bored with it already face]

TitsalinaBumsquash · 26/06/2009 07:36

This is a real shame, Michael jackson was a fantastic Musican and i am glad he can finally rest away from all the scandle and stories. My thoughs are with his family and Friends and i hope (not that it will happen) that he will finally be left in peace.

Really Sad i was a huge fan.
