As we suspected, she was telling a big pork pie...

Quite, Chilli, he was happy for her to have her face tattooed in the first place!

TheChilliMoose · 23/06/2009 13:59

Even at my age now my father would be extremely cross if I had my face tattooed, be it three stars or 103 stars.

Nancy66 · 23/06/2009 14:02

ridiculous of her to try and suggest that she slept through what must be an excrutiatingly painful procedure.

I hate tattoos , don't get them at all.
she now is faced with the choice of being disfigured by her tattoos or disfigured by the scarring the laser surgery will leave.

TheChilliMoose · 23/06/2009 14:04

Am I right in thinking that laser surgery leaves you lurking like you have scars from being burnt? She's not going to end up as lovely as she once was, that's for sure.

TheChilliMoose · 23/06/2009 14:05

lurking That should read looking.

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 23/06/2009 14:06

I never believed she fell asleep while having them done.

I reckon her dad hit the roof and she wouldn't take responsibility.

burningupinspeed · 23/06/2009 14:07

Chilli I think it depends on lots of things really, but lucky for her black ink is one of the easiest to remove. If I were that stupid I'd rather have a scar than a tattoo. But then I have a facial birthmark anyway so have had stares all my life.

TheChilliMoose · 23/06/2009 14:11

You're exactly right, FabBakerGirl. Far easier to blame someone else thatn yourself, I suppose.
I'm with you, burningup, I would much rather have a scar on my face than a tattoo.

PortAndLemon · 23/06/2009 14:32

I remember this account of tattoo removal from years ago. Things may have moved on in terms of technology, though (I do wonder what happened with Tara's tattoo in the end, too)

TheChilliMoose · 23/06/2009 14:50

PortAndLemon that is a great link, thank you. It looks really painful. Imagine how that would feel on your face. Owww.

lynniep · 23/06/2009 17:25

I agree Port and Lemon that is a great link - good account by the chap - I would have liked to see how far she did go with the removal though as a follow up!

I feel sorry for the girl actually - she didnt think it through at all. I was still completely immature at 18 (well at 25 too!) and whilst I wouldnt have made such a dodgy decision as that, I made other pretty terrible ones.

My ex-best friend (we're still friends, but she lives in US now so never see here, therefore I dont think I can class her as best friend anymore!)has modifications all over her body. She started relatively young with piercings (about 15) and moved on to body tattoos when she hit 18. I dont know when she got her first facials - I can't really remember, but over the years the mods and tattoos have gradually increased.

She really suits it actually, but maybe thats because I know her so well and I dont really see them because its just 'her'. Shes also extremely lucky to be good-looking in the standard westernised sense i.e. bit of a babe , and as such she's often hailed in the body mod world as the 'ideal' looking woman.

She's 35 now and still getting more. She's always felt a bit different from the 'norm' from an extremely young age, and sees her tatts as beautifying, whereas a lot of us see them as basically 'ruining a pretty face'. She never got them for anyone elses approval or disapproval - merely for herself.

I do suspect its a completely differnt situation though - the girl in the news wanted attention but realised too late she picked the wrong way to get it. Now she has to live with the consequences

I did think the "I fell asleep" excuse was pretty thin! I mean who would really fall asleep while someone was sticking needles in your face!?!!

nooka · 24/06/2009 06:12

That was fascinating. So I did some googling. Here is a more recent (although less informative) example with sound affects www.youtube.com/watch?v=sse6hGnc_sw No cool goggles though

Jumente · 24/06/2009 06:47

Agh. That is going to Really hurt...I've had a tattoo removed, well partially - I only lasted one (expensive) session. It's far worse than having it done in the first place.

Poor silly girl!

Jumente · 24/06/2009 06:57

Just the same about 3 years ago when I had it done Port... I was considering finishing the job, but reading your link has reminded me why I won't be!!! Luckily is cover upable area though..

MissM · 24/06/2009 12:07

I think it looks quite nice actually! I think she should keep them and see how her life pans out - she can always have them removed when she's older. what's the point of being 18 if you can't do stupid things - at least she's not pregnant or taking drugs or getting blind drunk every night

donnymouse · 24/06/2009 12:42

Have you seen the tattooists own face, he looks like a monster. I don't thing he has the vaguest idea of the word ' responsible'.

princessmel · 24/06/2009 12:47

It's good he's going to get people to sign things in future

Botbot · 24/06/2009 13:01

When I was at university, a load of local unemployed blokes used to come in to our student bar (for cheap beer, I presume). One had long hair which he wore in a really weird fringe right down over his eyes. Someone once said to him 'You looking for a job then, Dave?' and he lifted his fringe up and said 'No. It's quite hard getting a job when you've got "Shithead" written on your forehead.'

but . Hope he's had it removed since.

SoupDragon · 24/06/2009 13:04

OMG!!

I think the tatooist should have refused to do it.

SoupDragon · 24/06/2009 13:06

OMG! I've just seen the tattooist!

TheDevilWearsSocksWithSandals · 24/06/2009 13:10

I used to know a bloke (not a friend but in the same clubbing circles) who had ACAB tattooed across his forehead.

it stood for 'all cops are bastards'. Nice.

nooka · 25/06/2009 03:08

Wow that tattooist is very hardcore! I can't imagine he'd be doing little pretty discrete tatoos very much, so this episode will probably boost his business. The tattoo itself I thought was pretty good for a bunch of stars, just something you need to think seriously about getting done before rather than after going under the needles.

mrsalexanderarmstrong · 25/06/2009 05:51

Ha, I knew a guy once, who had SKINS tattooed on his forehead. He was no longer a skinhead and, at the time I met him he was a hardcore traveller hippy type so had had the original tattoo covered up with a cobweb over his WHOLE FACE.

It looked hideous.

He took A LOT of drugs.

Maybe it looked ok when he was out of it.

Maybe he needed to be out of it to look in the mirror .

Littlepurpleprincess · 26/06/2009 19:43

MissM why would getting pregnant be worse than scarring your face for life?! I had DS when I was 17 and am very happy thankyou. Getting pregnant young may be unwise but tatoos all over your face is taking stupid to a whole new level!
