As we suspected, she was telling a big pork pie...

why 56 ? it seems a very specific number.

I am working up the courage to have my tattoo removed (not facial). I'll be having it done surgically not by laser.

I don't blame the tattooist at all. The girl was the legal age to give consent. She requested the tattoo. He did his job on a consenting adult. How is that immoral/unethical of him?

mollyroger · 26/06/2009 20:10

AIBU to be thinking of a (non-facial) tatt for my 40th??

Littlepurpleprincess · 26/06/2009 21:17

No. Go for it. But make it tasteful and creative. No fucking butterflies or chinese writing.

mollyroger · 26/06/2009 21:36

it'll be a Green Man

MissM · 27/06/2009 06:46

Didn't mean to offend anyone purpleprincess. I was being flippant - should have added a emoticon. Am more than aware that there are some brilliant mothers out there who were teenagers when they had their kids.

PortAndLemon · 27/06/2009 08:12

I don't know, Figment -- if you watch, say, Miami Ink they are very careful about what they do for whom, and particularly facial tattoos. I've seen them refuse to do tattoos on the face or neck for some people, principally those who were young, not heavily tattooed already, and who they thought didn't fully realise the implications of a facial tattoo. And they've talked about it like it's a whole ethical code of the tattooist or something (not an actual written code, but a kind of general understanding).

nooka · 27/06/2009 18:02

I'm afraid to say I love Miami Ink! Still I guess essentially it is a fantastic bit of marketing, so thy wouldn't be inclined to show the ones they messed up! I suspect there is a huge range n the tattoo world from the grimy place that will put love/hate on your knuckles (and possibly a does of something nasty from dirty needles) to the very artistic unique styles from somewhere at the top end.

Littlepurpleprincess · 28/06/2009 08:33

No offence taken. I apologise for jumping on your thread, I'm just a little over sensitive about it. You'd be suprised how often people make comments like that.

MissM · 28/06/2009 22:16

I wouldn't be surprised princess. If you knew me you'd know I'm one of the last people to judge teenage mums. Actually right now I envy you - I'm having to deal with stroppy toddlers and no sleep while you're getting your life back at a relatively young age!

Littlepurpleprincess · 29/06/2009 08:05

Well actually DS is my life and I want another one! He's only just turned 3 years old so no life in sight yet. I must be mad.

MissM · 29/06/2009 08:47

Yes but when you're my age (39) you'll have a 22 year old and you'll be going out clubbing (probably with him!) and wearing nice clothes and I'll be too knackered to move. And you can probably run round after a three year-old without your knees hurting, unlike me (mine's 3 too).

Littlepurpleprincess · 29/06/2009 09:27

Well I got House Maids Knee so my knees always hurt but yes, when I'm 40 I intend to re-live the teenage years I spent changing nappies. DP says that's technically a mid-life crises though.

MissM · 29/06/2009 09:58

No it's not, it's re-discovering your youth and reminding yourself that you've still got it! And everyone will envy your son cos his mum's still young and funky (you're 17 so you think almost 40 year-olds are way past it, but believe me, we're all still 17 in our heads!)

Littlepurpleprincess · 01/07/2009 08:30

lol. I will remember that one when I'm 40 and tell DS who is cringing in the corner at his embarassing mother.
