My first thought was that it was a stunt but surely, this would be a bit drastic, even for them. If it's true, it's sad for the kids though but I think Pete comes across as a decent enough guy who will want continual access to them.

they did do a similar one before when they went to the usa.

i note it is a separation, not a divorce. You don't think, by any slim chance, it is at all possible that this way, they'll both get paid for 'their' story, by Hello/OK/Heat/Whatever.
Then they can decide that ''our love can never be torn asunder, innit'' and Pete N' Jordan get another 'exclusive' payout from the mags.
Then, they will renew their wedding vows in a ''fairytale'' ceremony (more ££££££££££££)
ad nauseum, ad inifinitum
