Do you live in a marginal constituency?

Only there was a very very scary statistic quoted on Any Questions on Saturday - in the 1992 election, the 11 seats which swung it for the Tories' tiny majority over Labour were decided by a total of 1200 votes.

Sort of makes you feel that the rest of us might as well not have bothered turning out but still, if your vote matters, use it anyway but use it wisely!!!

Labour vulnerable and targets
Tory targets
Lib Dem targets

(We have 4 boring candidates and the Tory always wins so I am seeking a bit of vicarious power )

Nope, afraid not (it would make life more interesting!) - I'm the other side of Mancs.

She seems like an awful woman - don't know much about him - are they both supposed to win again?

Heathcliffscathy · 02/05/2005 20:39

tactical voting sucks. sorry. vote with your heart. and is your heart happy voting for a virtual war criminal? mine isn't. sorry.

LGJ · 02/05/2005 20:40

Sorry Sophable

Can you be more specific ???

LGJ · 02/05/2005 20:41

Oh do you mean Tony Bliar ???

morningpaper · 02/05/2005 20:41

Sophable: So you're saying we shouldn't vote for the Labour OR the Tories?

You are starting to sound like you might have a small child called Donald tucked under your arm...?

JanH · 02/05/2005 20:43

I'm in a marginal: Tory target number 32, and he'll probably win. The number of blue placards in the hedgerows is seriously winding me up. Apparently the Tories drew the boundary of this constituency in the eighties specifically to make sure they kept it, which just tells you how bad things were for them in 2001 when they lost it to the Lib Dems. Must say, the prospect of the new Tory isn't appealing: he appears to have no connections to the area, but just wants to feed off his son's fame and take up politics in his retirement. Aaaargh!

JanH · 02/05/2005 20:48

Oh, you have Stanley?

sophable, did you read this bit : "in the 1992 election, the 11 seats which swung it for the Tories' tiny majority over Labour were decided by a total of 1200 votes"?

Under the present system, tactical voting doesn't suck, it's essential.

Yup! Father and son played a squash match locally as a publicity stunt the other week and the description of matching blond heads and cries of "gosh" and "blimey" made me want to heave!

bubble99 · 02/05/2005 20:52

We're in the same constituency as her with the fangs.Lib Dem and Tories neck and neck.

JanH · 02/05/2005 20:53

The notion of anybody "taking up politics in their retirement" would be hilarious if it weren't so scary (in this instance)! Somebody get that man a subscription to Saga magazine and some bowls lessons.

We are number 6 on the Tory's hitlist.

JanH · 02/05/2005 21:05

Do you have a vote, zebra?

11th vulnerable seat for labour- they beat a new plaid cymru guy by 2.4% last time but there'd been some infighting. plaid have got someone else up this time- hope he wins
