Talk about over feeding your dc

Oh for god's sake.

So if someone said the following on MN:

?They?re on the baby food jars and love the fish pie and cottage pie meals. But I see no harm in letting them have a few bits of my takeaways too.

?They like the taste of them and it?s a treat. I let the triplets eat fries off my plate as I think it?s best they try all kinds of food to see what they like.?

but they lived in Islington and had a job, a nanny and a pair of skinny jeans... you'd think what exactly. A packet or Wotsits here and there and the odd chip are not going to kill any child. She feeds them baby food from jars. So shoot her.

Of course she's obese. But hey, her kids are 8 months old, having a varied diet (you don't really think she gives them microwave lasagne and McD's every day do you?), a normal weight for their age. She's not the first person in the world who didn't know much about nutrition.

And bloody hell, Sun newspaper. Bastion of factual reporting.

RockinSockBunnies · 03/05/2009 15:24

I wouldn't care if she lived in Islington or Outer Mongolia - 8 month old babies should not be fed high salt/high fat food, so yes, I would be aghast at the odd pack of Wotsits and fries at that age.

Of course she's not the first person in the world who didn't know much about nutrition. However, the fact that she appears to be so devoid of any common sense when it comes to healthy eating, should compel her to find appropriate information and adapt her diet, and that of her children, as necessary. Not to sit there and revel in her utter ignorance.

bergentulip · 03/05/2009 15:46

Instead of interviewing her all the bleedin' time, why doesn't someone invest some energy in getting her some proper support?

She needs educating.

Nighbynight · 03/05/2009 16:05

But it's not her story. It's a story written by a Sun journalist to shock people!
Cant you see the difference?

I didnt see the gmtv, it would be foolish to suppose that the tv didnt also have the shock agenda.

as bergen says - she needs help. But the comments on this thread are worryingly naive about how the media twist stories, and blatantly make up "facts."

Nancy66 · 03/05/2009 16:08

what have they made up?

Of course the story shocks people- it is shocking.

She is getting help.

Nighbynight · 03/05/2009 16:09

the whole damn lot could be made up for all you or I know!

Nancy66 · 03/05/2009 16:11

But it isn't - she readily admits to it all, I've seen her being interviewed.

Too easy to trot out that old 'the press make everything up' routine.

Nighbynight · 03/05/2009 16:14

It is all ambiguous!

"I dress my babies once a week, when I go to the benefits office" is a true statement.

It could mean "Im a lazy cow who gets out of bed once a week in order to sponge off others"

or it could mean "My babies wear babygros most of the time, but on our weekly visit to the post office and supermarket, I dress them up in cute little outfits"

The whole article was similar - it was phrased to give a particular impression, but when you examine each line, you can't really say that the impression is correct.

Nancy66 · 03/05/2009 16:17

I think you are being far too charitable.

I said on a previous thread that i felt sorry for her. She clearly has a low IQ and probably comes from a family where everyone is overweight and nobody eats well. I hope she does learn about healthy food and exercise.

However it's naive to imagine that the story could all be completely true and that, perhaps, she is growing her own organic veg and going to Pilates three times a week.

Nancy66 · 03/05/2009 16:20

I meant to say it's naive to imagine that the story could all be completely UNTRUE ...hate than MN doesn't have an edit facility.

Nighbynight · 03/05/2009 16:57

Nobody suggests that she's growing organic veg, but it is my impression that she is a lot more normal than the picture painted in teh Sun. Car crash journalism at its worst, supposed to make us all feel better because at least we arent as bad as her.

Nancy66 · 03/05/2009 17:32

I'm just looking forward to the Living TV makeover...it's bound to be in the pipeline.
