WTF is she thinking?

Talk about over feeding your dc

OP posts:
chequersmate · 01/05/2009 11:20

Nancy, you said "not if 8 stone of that was triplets"

To which I replied, wtf?

Are you saying each triplet weighed over two and a half stone? Or are you saying the 8 stone was triplets plus baby weight?

If it's the latter then she has done well to lose it - baby weight can take some shifting, I should know.

Nancy66 · 01/05/2009 11:32

Are you her PR or something? No, of course I wasn't suggesting that each triplet weighed two and a half stone.

chequersmate · 01/05/2009 11:39

Am I her PR?

No, I just don't happen to agree with the statement you made.

womblingfree · 01/05/2009 11:58

It's all very well to slate the newspaper/journalists but look at the attention that story has got on this thread alone in less than an hour?

If we weren't as a society so interested in this kind of thing (no doubt exaggerated and mostly to make ourselves feel better I grant you) then there would be no point in publishing it.

InsomniacMumontheRun · 01/05/2009 12:13

How did Closer get the story in the first place? Did she sell it to them herself to make money or was it sold to them by someone else? Hmmmm.

I suspect the story is over sensationalised but she obviously needs some help with understanding how to feed her children and herself a balanced diet. Help which I understand she has available to her now?

Having said that, you can throw all the free advice and education in the world at someone but it's their choice whether to listen to it.

I suspect there are very few among us who could say their child has never had anything remotely bad for them. It's all about moderation.

Jaquelinehyde · 02/05/2009 16:37

I'm still trying to get over the "braaaawn babies comment" vile and disgusting.

However, I am loving the fact that Closer magazine is some how seen as a much more reliable publication than The Sun

Kimi · 02/05/2009 16:47

what ever publication it is in it can not be denied that the woman has less brain cells a leaf.

RockinSockBunnies · 02/05/2009 16:52

Sorry but I have no time for the righteous, 'you should all be ashamed of yourselves' comments from some of the posters here. Fair enough, the Sun or Closer don't exactly demonstrate quality investigative journalism. At the same time, facts are facts. She is grossly obese, smokes, is unemployed and feeds her children a terrible diet. Furthermore, she appears to have the intelligence to know that she can sell her shocking story to the tabloids and gain from doing so. If she has the knowledge to be able to do that, then I feel she has the knowledge to undertake some kind of basic education in nutrition.

Also, why on earth shouldn't people judge her and her lifestyle? Perhaps if enough people made it clear that her way of living was unacceptable to most of society, then she'd have the grace to sit up and do something to make a difference to her life and the lives of her children. This whole 'softly-softly....mustn't judge' approach is ridiculous. Some things in life are wrong and people ought to be able to know the difference between right and wrong. I don't care what this woman's background is - she should not be allowed to inflict her bad life choices on her children.

georgimama · 02/05/2009 17:00

I'm right with Rockinsocks. The bleeding hearts of MN are out in force as usual, but the simple fact is this woman is a disgrace.

tiredemma · 02/05/2009 18:14

Sorry for offence caused.

I retract the 'beast' bit.

smallorange · 02/05/2009 18:20

I also agree with Rockinsock - if she can get to Maccy D's she can get to a supermarket and buy them something decent to eat.

She knows she shouldn't feed them shit all the time. She just doesn't care.

DorotheaPlenticlew · 02/05/2009 18:48

"THE average 40-year-old British woman has a ?fat age? of 66 ? after eating a level of fat that should have taken her 66 years, shock figures reveal."

Gee, why not let us know what the "fat age" of the average British man is, too? Or is it only fun to demonize women for their weight problems?

Not condoning this woman's decisions about her kids' diet, though.

suwoo · 02/05/2009 18:48

Well, I roffled at the 'braaawn babies' comment by WaynettaSlob. It is a reference to Harry Enfields Wayne and Waynetta sketch from many years ago, when Waynetta said she wanted a brown baby.

whatwouldyoudothen · 02/05/2009 19:24

Rockinsockbunnies I thought it was only formula feeders you reserved this kind of disdain for?

Medee · 02/05/2009 19:31

Horrible article, both the subject and the tone, but surely this:

"The Infant and Toddler Forum poll also discovered that 65 per cent of mums NEVER cook meals from scratch"

is rubbish?

smallorange · 02/05/2009 19:32

What does this have to do with giving a baby formula???

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 02/05/2009 19:34

My closest friend weighs not much less than that. And she is a lovely person, who just has a problem with eating, which she admits.

Very sad to read comments about obese people bring "beasts" and "disgraces" on here tbh

smallorange · 02/05/2009 19:36

Well she has a choice about getting fat - her kids don't. They are growing and need proper nutrition.

Wilkiepedia · 02/05/2009 19:39

Rockinsockbunnies - well said.

Jaquelinehyde · 02/05/2009 20:34

Rockinsock - Obviously what she is doing is wrong and needs to be dealt with asap. Comments of what was she thinking and dear God this woman needs help and concerns about her childrens health are perfectly fine.

However, calling her a hideous beast etc is disgusting and uncalled for as are several other comments that have been made.

suwoo I am aware of the wayne and waynetta slob sketches and yes I found them on TV very funny especially calling their daughter frogmella. But, on this thread it comes across as down right insulting, sick and offensive. Oh and I say that as an over weight mother of 3 mixed race children.

Or should that be a hideous beast with braaaawn babies. Seriously fucking sick and not funny!

georgimama · 03/05/2009 07:18

Medee, I don't think that poll is rubbish. MN is a very self selecting group and whilst none of us are anywhere near perfect the very fact we are here suggests we are motivated parents trying to do our very best for our children.

That simply isn't true of everyone (and no, obviously I don't think that if you aren't on MN you aren't a good parent).

She is a disgrace, I entirely stand by that comment. Being morbidly obese is a dreadful example to set to your children, not to mention the damage done to their own diets and the example set to them for future life, and the life limiting nature of that kind of level of obesity. She'll be lucky to see them grow up. She may be feeding them mostly baby jars now, but what will they be eating in five years? The crap she eats, obviously.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 03/05/2009 09:23

Maybe she isn't educated properly in what foods are healthy?

Maybe it isn't quite that easy to stop being morbidly obese, even if you hate it and are aware of all the implications?

RockinSockBunnies · 03/05/2009 14:20

I refuse to believe that this woman has no idea which foods are healthy. If she's not educated, how hard is it to grab a leaflet from GP surgery, outlining basics of healthy eating on less than a side of A4 paper.

No-one's saying it's easy to stop being morbidly obese - however, that doesn't mean you should sit back, not bother to try and reduce your weight and perpetuate the cycle by feeding your children utter crap.

Also, the fact that she's sold her story to the tabloids indicates she must realise that her children hardly have a good diet.

I'm with georgimama all the way on this issue - she's a complete disgrace and should have the grace to be ashamed of herself rather than milking her appalling lifestyle to make a fast buck.

Nighbynight · 03/05/2009 14:50

Oh for goodness sake, it is so clearly a stitchup by a tabloid newspaper. We know absolutely nothign about this woman, other than that she is vastly overweight, and that her chidlren look healthy.

Even that photo - she may have posed thinking that it was to illustrate how much weight she's lost. We just dont know.

She needs help and support about healthy eating, and possible help for compulsive eating, now move along please!

Nancy66 · 03/05/2009 14:52

It's not a tabloid stitch up. she had been on GMTV long before this story appeared - and she's been on GMTV since.

She was paid for her story and interview.
