Are you shocked by the pictures of Jade in todays papers?

I have followed Jades tragic story since her cancer diagnosis and I must admit to buying the issues of Ok magazine showing her wedding and christening (though I draw the line at buying their tribute issue which came out before her death).
I accept that there has been a lot of public and media interest in Jade particularly since her cancer diagnosis and untimely death and I am also aware that she invited the media into her life.
However today I open both the Daily mirror and Sun newspapers only to find pictures of Jade in her body bag being brought out of her house followed by her distraught mother, to me this is truly wrong and upsetting and doesnt allow Jade to have any dignity now she has gone.
I am aware posts about Jade have had mixed reactions and I am not doing this to stir a hornets nest but just to see if other people are of the same opinion that those photos were unnecessary and upsetting.

ott or what

yet another reason to not buy crappy newspapers.

kingprawnjalfrezi · 23/03/2009 22:39

Exactly - the best way to protest about scumbag journalism is not to buy scumbag papers. Are we sure those pictures weren't part of Jade's deal?

tengreenbottles · 24/03/2009 20:28

it just goes to show how squemish the british public have got about death though doesnt it ? haviing seen countless dead people in my time ,i am always amazed at peoples innate fear /disgust of the dead . However taking into account this morbid fear ,i agree that showing someone in a body bag is in very poor taste , a shot of her in her coffin in full make up would surely of been more appropriate and acceptable ?

I was more disturbed on the four page spread of pics of her kids today - seriously - leave them alone - they just lost their mum. Didnt ask to be born so press should piss off and let them grow up and grieve in peace!!

sickofthisrain · 25/03/2009 20:09

And how many more Jade tribute issues will OK manage to eke out? Just seen another one in the shops today. I find the incessant coverage is disturbing in every way. I realise Jade wanted to provide for her boys and I totally respect that, but can't help feeling that somehow a line of taste has been crossed.

I do think now the poor woman is dead her family should be given some space to grieve, I am sure her funeral will get the press all worked up again.

I did not see the photos of Jades bodie being taken from the house but that is beyond the realms of good taste, also I found the photos of her children on the cover of the papers the last few days unnecessary, also her mother looking distraught was quite uncalled for.

I hope the press will leave her children alone to rebuild their lives once thefuneral is over.

mayorquimby · 26/03/2009 10:25

"I am sure her funeral will get the press all worked up again."

which is exactly what she wanted.didn't she say she wanted it broadcast on big-screen projectors like diana's funeral?

steviesgirl · 28/03/2009 12:00

The press is poison. They spread hatred and lies about people just to get a story.

If more of us didn't buy newspapers, then it would be showing them that people are sick of the press and the poison they spread.

I'm not going to buy them again. Only my harmless local paper.

My advice to everyone is do all you can to stay away from the public eye; and God help you if you are unexpectedly thrust into it, like the poor McCanns. Look how they were demonised by the press and human beings in general. They had just lost their little girl FFS. Leave them alone!

imo you can't completely blame the press.
if someone totally sells their lives to the meadia, they kind of loose controll.

shonaspurtle · 28/03/2009 12:19

If we didn't look at the pictures, if we didn't buy the magazines (even if it's browsing in a shop or looking at a friend's copy, or looking online), if we didn't talk about the pictures - THEY WOULDN'T TAKE THEM.

Inevitably, if a pap could get a shot of Jade's corpse in her coffin he would take it, he would sell it and we would all chunter away about how awful it was...but enough would still look to make it hugely profitable.

Only you can stop this. Don't look. Don't listen. Don't talk.

so you can't buy a news paper of magazine then....cos it is every where.
