Are you shocked by the pictures of Jade in todays papers?

I have followed Jades tragic story since her cancer diagnosis and I must admit to buying the issues of Ok magazine showing her wedding and christening (though I draw the line at buying their tribute issue which came out before her death).
I accept that there has been a lot of public and media interest in Jade particularly since her cancer diagnosis and untimely death and I am also aware that she invited the media into her life.
However today I open both the Daily mirror and Sun newspapers only to find pictures of Jade in her body bag being brought out of her house followed by her distraught mother, to me this is truly wrong and upsetting and doesnt allow Jade to have any dignity now she has gone.
I am aware posts about Jade have had mixed reactions and I am not doing this to stir a hornets nest but just to see if other people are of the same opinion that those photos were unnecessary and upsetting.

Some people know no shame!

popperdoodles · 23/03/2009 20:36

I saw these pictures online earlier today and just could not believe it. Yes she invited the media in but surely her family now deserve a bit of privacy

GypsyMoth · 23/03/2009 20:39

Predictable......the pic that is!! Knew that would happen it's the princess diana from side of the tracks comment that alarmed me today!

5inthebed · 23/03/2009 20:40

I am not surprised they were in the papers. Some tabloids will stoop as low as possible to get the "top" pictures/stories. At least they didn't go as far as filming it for the news (or maybe they have?).

They done the same when Heath Ledger was taken out of his hotel. Very grim.

KayHarkerIsPlayingWithMitchell · 23/03/2009 20:41

The body bag?? Oh that's just bloody wierd.

GypsyMoth · 23/03/2009 20:42

A black body bag, with a very clear outline of her body inside.........too much.

5inthebed · 23/03/2009 20:43

ILT, I also thought that comment was a bit OTT. No need for it.

kingprawnjalfrezi · 23/03/2009 20:48

She wasn't particularly dignified in life - its what I would expect. Mind you I don't but the mirror, the sun, or Ok magazine so guess you get what you pay for!

KayHarkerIsPlayingWithMitchell · 23/03/2009 20:54

Yeah, but... the body bag? What next, exclusive shots from the morgue? That is just horrible.

kingprawnjalfrezi · 23/03/2009 20:55

buy obviously. And surely its not the tabloids stooping low - its the people who buy them.

What's next is that being dead won't actually stop people from appearing on reality TV.

Coming this autumn, new Channel 4 show "Dead Cert" - six about-to-pop-clogs slebs forced to do tasks, be filmed at home and share updates in the diary room, until one of them carks it. Viewers have to bet on who they think will kick the bucket first.

LynetteScavo · 23/03/2009 21:45

I suppose that's what you get if you read the Sun or the Mirror.

wannaBe · 23/03/2009 21:45

bloody hell.

Who would want to see that?

What justification can there possibly be for publishing that?

GivePeasAChance · 23/03/2009 21:49

They do that with a lot of celebs e.g. Heath Ledger.

And Natasha Richardson's funeral was snapped today - coffin and all.

Just pointing it it's not just Jade.

MrsRecycle · 23/03/2009 21:49

Sick couldn't believe it.

tribpot · 23/03/2009 21:56

Heath Ledger's body bag was indeed shown on the BBC news, I wrote to complain about it at the time. There is simply no justification for it. Never mind crappy tabloid journalism.

With Natasha Richardson, I think the family have just got on with things and if the press are there they are there. But equally what a terrible week for four boys to have lost two mums.

kingprawnjalfrezi · 23/03/2009 21:56

Mind you I'm half expecting her body to lie in state. She is almost royalty you know!

MargotBeauregardesGavel · 23/03/2009 21:58

I know, like the Queen Mother, she has planned her own funeral! I remember going right off the ol' QM (never a huge fan though really!) when I realised she had planed all that ott pomp and ceremony.

Shhhh · 23/03/2009 22:06

I was a Jade follower and have been shocked at her death. What shocked me even more was seeing these pics.

I didn't buy the paper buy read the sun online tonight and was speaking to dh on the phone at the time....I couldn't believe it either.
As another poster said, you could clearly see the outline iykwim...sad, so very sad...

Shhhh · 23/03/2009 22:07

KPJ,see can't be to far from royalty..she had her obiturary in the Times today..not many people can claim to have that. A lovely write up as well.

Ohh..is that ok, I read the Times as well as the sun/OK! etc.

Flibbertyjibbet · 23/03/2009 22:10

Doesn't everyone plan their own funeral to some extent? Please bury/cremate me, no flowers, scatter my ashes in suchaplace?

If you know you are going then you plan your funeral, I know I would.

The queen mother didn't plan all that pomp and ceremony, she had the pomp and ceremony that an ex queen and ex empress of india and lots of other places (when we used to have an empire!) has. Its called a state funeral.

I'm not a fan either but if you are one of the people that gets a state funeral then thats what you get. Its down to tradition not the planning of the deceased person.

Haven't seen todays papers so can't comment on the pics but it sounds sick and unecessary.

Wigglesworth · 23/03/2009 22:22

On the royal subject, apparently Stephen Fry has written on twitter that Jade Goody was a "Princess Diana from the wrong side of the tracks". Erm I wouldn't go that far Fry.
It's is sad though, I wasn't a fan myself but my heart goes out to her family.
