to find the OK 'tribute to Jade' magazine a little premature?

On the cover 'Jade Goody Official Tribute Issue'

'1981-2009'

Inside quotes

'we take a look at the woman who was our Jade'

'she was very brave and a real inspiration'

Clearly printed with the belief that she would be dead by the time it was released.
Doesn't sit right with me AT ALL! Should they not wait for her to die before this sort of stuff goes out?

I know sleb mags are banal and evil but I read them when they are knocking about and can generally find some sort of mirth or amusement in them. Mickey Rourke gave his dog mouth to mouth resucitation yknow!

Am really not interested in the wringing out of Jade Goody and find all the stuff discussed on here rather vile. that people are leaving teddies outside her house. Farkinell.

There was a tv prog on t'other week - one of them magazine newsy progs between coronation streets that was like an obiturary. Thought then that she had died then thought how premature and tastless when realised she hadn't

2shoes · 17/03/2009 22:37

I like the gossip and take it all with a pinch of salt.
it is no different that reading a book of fiction imo.

Wintersun · 17/03/2009 22:43

They could have just left the date off it when they realised she hasn't died yet, surely? At least it would be less offensive.

I don't generally mind reading them from time to time but this is well over the top. I've always ignored all the crappy Big Brother stuff anyway. I want real celebrities and real gossip, dammit!

Woooozle100 · 17/03/2009 22:45

actually 2shoes I love gossip also. And bitching Specially bout inane people I don't know. Kind of takes away from the intensity of my day to day lot. Great hospital reads I reckon

Oh but quite different to fiction I would chose to read. Loads easier and not requiring same er any concentration

UnquietDad · 17/03/2009 22:47

Not tactless to prepare it, as most obituaries of those likely to die are prepared in advance and ready to go. But pretty tasteless to release it. I do wonder who on earth will buy it.

Tommy · 17/03/2009 22:55

DH just saw this on telly and asked me if she'd died and I said not as far as I knew (and I guess it will be on the news ) - sounds a bit premature and, therefore, a bit sick IMO.

2shoes · 17/03/2009 23:14

pixiemason it is good toilet reading material

Woooozle100 · 17/03/2009 23:23

goes without saying 2shoes

tho all this stuff would put me off my shit

Gunnerbean · 17/03/2009 23:48

I'm sure the editors of OK! are convinced that people will buy this special tribute issue in their droves and I hope that optimism of sales going into overdrive was reflected in what they paid Jade.

If Jade has chosen to wring every last penny out of her experiences with this cruel and evil disease then good on her - that's her preogative.

Where the fuck do people get off on criticising someone who really hasn't done any harm to anyone and is, quite literally, on their deathbed? It beggars belief it really does.

surely you can be critical of whole sick spectacle / car crash / bulimic media coverage without being having any any specific ill feelings to person at the centre of it? I wish Jade Goody no harm at all. Quite the opposite actually.

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2009 13:11

Do you think this has started something new? Celebrities playing out their last days in the media? Or do you think this will be a one off?

LouMacca · 18/03/2009 14:05

I think this is shocking! Extremely bad taste. I dread to think what my come next. Be prepared for the headlines 'Jack's Story'

PenelopePitstops · 18/03/2009 16:11

Heard on Radio 1 earlier that Max CLifford isn't too happy

MrsGokWan · 18/03/2009 21:38

Just seen OK's response to this

uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20090318/tuk-magazine-defends-jade-goody-tribute-45dbed5.html

I also emailed OK and expressed my distaste but I haven't had a reply yet.

2shoes · 18/03/2009 21:39

bad taste yes, but more money for the school fees

5inthebed · 18/03/2009 21:51

Yes, lets not forget the school fees

UnquietDad · 18/03/2009 22:25

It is in bad taste. But then so are all these idiotic sleb magazines. If you find this reprehensible, don't buy it - not just this issue but subsequent issues.

Is there any reason why Jade's children can't go to state school, by the way?

beanieb · 18/03/2009 22:27

no reason at all, but she has the choice I suppose.

Obviously because you haven't bought any of the papers and magazines, you haven't paid for it so have no reason to be personally pissed off - which is nice.

UnquietDad · 18/03/2009 22:30

She had to get to the point where it was a "story" though. More people created "Jade the Sleb" than have bought this particular magazine. I watched part of the BB she was in so I suppose I am partly responsible along with 6 million other people!

beanieb · 18/03/2009 22:34

Does anyone remember watching the Celeb big brother, does anyone remember what their impression of Jack Tweed was back then? I think most of my memories are that people thought he was rather wet. Yet now people want to paint him as some calculating gold-digger.

GivePeasAChance · 18/03/2009 22:41

IMO it is not just bad taste, it has crossed the line of decency and the foundations of a civilization.

It shows a complete lack of respect for human life, putting greed and ego above it: that is to sell more magazines and 'be the first' to get the story out there is more important than respect for other human beings.

I feel so saddened that people somewhere think this is OK!

beanieb · 18/03/2009 22:43

Haven't newspapers and magazines already crossed that line over and over? I wasn't aware this was a recent thing.

2shoes · 18/03/2009 22:44

beanieb I have never watched BB.
I just think jack the pratt is a thug.

GivePeasAChance · 18/03/2009 22:48

I have not been aware of the press announcing someone's death and writing obituaries BEFORE they are dead before.

Tasteless doesn't go far enough.
