to find the OK 'tribute to Jade' magazine a little premature?

On the cover 'Jade Goody Official Tribute Issue'

'1981-2009'

Inside quotes

'we take a look at the woman who was our Jade'

'she was very brave and a real inspiration'

Clearly printed with the belief that she would be dead by the time it was released.
Doesn't sit right with me AT ALL! Should they not wait for her to die before this sort of stuff goes out?

they should be able to make a judgement call in that case MMC. Her wishes to see the mag shouldn't override the feelings of all the people who would usually buy the mag. I reckon she thought she'd be gone by time it came to print, and so did they. I can see the meeting now, with them all huddled around the desk going 'shit she's not bloody dead, how the hell did she hold out so long? We have nothing else prepared so we'll have to run it'
I wonder just how close I am?!

The editor just replied and said to me..
Thank you for your email.
It was a hard decision to run our tribute this week. But over the weekend, we were informed by Jade?s people that her condition had deteriorated rapidly and her outlook was very bleak. They suggested it was best to prepared for the worst.
We apologise for any offence caused, and pray that Jade is comfortable at home with her family.

mad4mybaby · 17/03/2009 19:55

crackopen, y do you say she will be gone by 24th??

CrackopentheBaileys · 17/03/2009 19:58

Oh she will. She has been given hours, it has been printed that she is now mostly in deep sleep and her organs are failing

EdwardBear I can't believe they replied so quickly!! I should email them now and see if I get the same standard answer!

they've probably has loads of emails so it's on automated reply I didn't relaise she only had hours can't imagine what her family are going through

StealthPolarBear · 17/03/2009 20:02

" prepared for the worst."
i.e. her death. WHich actually for them would be pretty good since it sells magazines.
Can kind of see their dilemma. If she dies while it's going to print then they suffer a week of being hideously out of date - they gambled and lost. Still very bad taste IMO

ScottishMummy · 17/03/2009 20:22

expect they hope to make money with all the ghoul hounds a "commemorative" edition.

gross.just saw on news, icky and bad taste to refer to her in past tense.she is still here you know

edam · 17/03/2009 20:28

blimey.

5inthebed · 17/03/2009 21:25

I thought OK! magazine were stooping low by showing photos of Jade and her boys getting christened last week. Jade looked really ill, barely there and in need of some peace.

This on the other hand is damn right disgusting!

And who would buy such an issue?

gagamama · 17/03/2009 21:31

I didn't realise there was a thread about this, I posted on the other one.

I was pretty outraged when I saw a copy of last week's issue (at my mum's, might I add) and there was a whole page dedicated to pictures of her kids crying. I thought that was stooping low.

But this is something else entirely.

And, I don't know if anyone else noticed, but this 'tribute' edition is issue 666.

gagamama · 17/03/2009 21:32

Oops, cross-posted there I think! Yes, 5inthebed, agree totally!

Lilyloo · 17/03/2009 21:37

Very and tasteless
To time her death for a mag publication leaves me speechless tbh.

5inthebed · 17/03/2009 21:40

666

DaisyMooSteiner · 17/03/2009 21:42

But Crackopenthebaileys (I'm just about to) somebody might get there first if she dies between issues and then OK might not make so much money from her death

wannaBe · 17/03/2009 21:51

but the only reason why magazines publish this stuff is because people pay money for it.

It's all about supply and demand...

Apparently her funeral is going to be televised. By her request.

2shoes · 17/03/2009 21:53

oh good we can read this too
ffs

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 17/03/2009 22:00

So they're going to withdraw it from sale, yes?

Please don't tell me it's still on the shelves.

5inthebed · 17/03/2009 22:02

Good grief! I'm sorry, but I know Jade is trying to get money for her kids, but how much of her soul does she need to sell???

And is Living TV filming her final days? It certainly looked like it in the picture on that link

wannaBe · 17/03/2009 22:09

I think that the statement that she's "doing it for her boys" is crap.

She's not destitute. Their father is not destitute and is earning a good living and will be able to support them. She will not be dying and leaving them in poverty.

The only way she has ever been able to live has been in the media.

Personally I think she just wasn't able to let that go. That she wanted to be famous for the way she dies as much as for the way she lived, except that admitting that would not have earned her the sympathy that "doing it for her boys" has.

I don't agree, i fyou like reading celeb mags, you have no choice but to trawl through the saint jade crap.

DaisyMooSteiner · 17/03/2009 22:22

But the 'saint jade crap' is just an extension of the celeb mag phenomenon. Not that much different to revelling in the latest details of Kerry Katona's sad little life. Sorry, I just hate those magazines.

wannaBe · 17/03/2009 22:24

I don't understand why people buy them either.

Why do people want to know about the lives of people they have never met? Most of which is probably made up anyway?
