Just wondered. A little bit political...
a) how did you vote last time (if at all?)
b) how will you vote this time (if at all)?
c) what to you is the deciding issue of this election?
d) if you had to make love (not war) with one politician (past, present, senior or backbench?) who would it be?

Think Cam said a Lib Dem govt was impossible due to lack of candidates.

Can't square either how Tories can vote Tory because of Iraq when MH has said he woudl have gone to war and for regime chnage - which is illegal, is it not?

ionesmum - still don't get the Greens policy on VAT/EU. Unless there is some loophole I don't know of, would have thought it is impossible to abolish VAT whilst within the EU.

Sedgefield is TB's constituency - if Labour lost it, he would lose it.

Tinker - it's how the reasons for war were presented to us thats the issue (or from my pov anyway)

Haven't read this thread (time for bed really) but I think I've had a bit of a change of heart this evening. I was going to vote Lib Dem, I'm a somerset girl you see, Paddy was my MP, I've met him and he was my lovely friends godfather (now sadly passed away at 19 ). But I've seen him on telly tonight, and I do still like Tony. I will do anything to stop Micheal getting in. He's a twit, frankly. I think that even though I don't aprove of all his policies and previous actions, TB is the better option. I haven't told DP this. He is Cons, which I hate and I have sat here this evening pondering how I have ended up with a tory!! Keeps on about voting for the best for the 'family' which I think is total rubbish. So our votes will cancel each other out. But better vote for who I believe than not to bother at all.

JoolsToo · 02/05/2005 23:59

you don't approve of his policies or previous actions - but you like him!

hells bells!

Sorry not all of them!!! He has done a lot to go some way to improve nurses pay - Guess what I am!! There was some shocking figure about how much more pay increases we had recieved in the past 4 years at the last election compared to the tories. It really was shocking. Can't reconcile myself with being conservative. Not in this lifetime.

Tinker, I'm not an expert on EU tax rules so don't know. Maybe as we're not in the Euro it wouldn't apply to us. For me the most important thing about the Green Party is its envirnmental position esp. re climate change. Thankfully its other policies fit in with my beliefs too. I don't view voting Green as a protest vote, I view it as voting for the only party that would really change things.

Prufrock · 03/05/2005 13:47

Tinker - not sure that Greens have thought it through properly. I think they realse that there is no chance of them ever forming a government so they can afford to have principles.

I've voted Green. Not as a protest really, but in the hope that a larger percentage of the vote will make the major parties realise that reen policies are vote winners in the future. If Lib Dems had any chance of winning here I would vote for them, but it's a safe Tory seat. I have voted Lib Dem in local elections though. And that is in spite of fundamentally disagreeing with their economic policies. If they do get a reasonable result, and Labours majority is reduced, then they may have some influence on legislation over the next 5 years- but GB would never allow them to bring in economy destroying policies. So we get the best of all worlds - a reduced majority as a signal for TB to go and a far more democratic parliamnet.

ionesmum · 03/05/2005 20:04

Prufrock, none of us can afford not to have principles.
