but if you put your trust in someone(say a troll on here) and find out later that they wern't who they seemed to be....would you not feel foolish?

Peachy · 09/02/2009 18:59

Why should I? That's their nastiness not mine.

I wouldn't make a decision based on something purely spotted on here btw.

2shoesformyvalentine · 09/02/2009 19:00

It is an example

edam · 09/02/2009 19:00

The extremists trying to discredit Wakefield have been shown up for what they are at the GMC hearings.

Dispute Wakefield's findings all you like, but there's no need to go on a witch-hunt. Very unscientific. But sadly a classic tactic from the Department of Health when someone points out they are wrong.

Peachy · 09/02/2009 19:01

I knew that 2shoes

pagwatch · 09/02/2009 19:01

2shoes.
If anyone ever proves to me that this is untrue I will still be perfectly comfortable as miraculously his theory co-incides perfectly with the one thing that has helped DS2.
So I would not feel the slightest bit foolish.
Although I would probably still feel middle class - which is apparently a bad thing indeed as it makes you a bit dim

..although that is confusing too as i started life very working class - so as the years have passed and my circumstances have changed I have clearly paid for that through lost IQ.
I suspect DH would vouch for that though

daftpunk · 09/02/2009 19:03

lol...oh peachy, have i ever said i am the font of all MMR knowledge?.....you talk as if i'm the only person saying this...little daftpunk on mumsnet?...experts have been wiping the floor with that idiots "data" for years.

.

NAB09 · 09/02/2009 19:03

I don't feel foolish. I did not put my trust in AW. I made a decision that was best for our children based on lots of things.

2shoesformyvalentine · 09/02/2009 19:04

no idea why you mention class lol
I find this all interesting so it makes me ask questions.
as I said before I was lucky mine had the MMR before I hand ever heard of a link.
thank goodness as measles could be deadly for dd.

2shoesformyvalentine · 09/02/2009 19:05

wtf has being wc or mc got to do with it...I am lost peachy darling. should I go have a pimms or a lager?

pagwatch · 09/02/2009 19:07

a foot in both camps, fence splitting you down the middle. Poor peachy.
Pick a class.

silverfrog · 09/02/2009 19:07

it is something daftpunk mentioned earlier, 2shoes. apparently, only mc parents "fell" for wakefield's hypothesis...

Peachy · 09/02/2009 19:07

2shoes- posr further down, 10.49 RE class

CoteDAzur · 09/02/2009 19:08

They are running out of ways to go after Wakefield, aren't they?

Peachy · 09/02/2009 19:10

If it's all house then the old cottage we have rent is very clearly MC LOL- I shall go for that

disclaimer: of course I don't eat FCP! What do you think I am?! Sheeseh!

pagwatch · 09/02/2009 19:11

I met him actually. Really nice chap. Asked ALL about DS2 although he was supposed to be leaving and asked if I knew all about the diet and did I want any resources, contacts etc. Offered to help if he could. Quite sweet really

ruty · 09/02/2009 19:12

ignorance is bliss.

daftpunk · 09/02/2009 19:12

2shoes...the MMR uptake was lowest amoung the middleclasses.

pagwatch · 09/02/2009 19:12

at Peachys supper.
If its all about cars I am screwed. And if its language DD is a total potty mouth...

CoteDAzur · 09/02/2009 19:14

What does that say about the "middle classes", then?

That they read more and hence are aware of the controversy?

That they are less likely to trust the judgement of the medical establishment at large?

That they are more likely to think for themselves?

Just curious as to why it is at all relevant to point fingers at some "class". (I'm fascinated by this British obsession with classes, by the way )

noddyholder · 09/02/2009 19:14

Are the incidences of autism higher since the MMR cvaccine was introduced I thought it had been proved they were unchanged but am happy to be told I'm wrong

CoteDAzur · 09/02/2009 19:16

Research on general population has shown that autism rates have not significantly increased following introduction of MMR.

But that is to be expected. Wakefield et al never said MMR causes autism in all children. They said it looks like there is a small subset of children whose autism is triggered by MMR. These make up a small number of cases, estimated at around 6% of all autism cases. So it is not a number that would be statistically significant in the overall population.

Peachy · 09/02/2009 19:16

I have no idea why class was brought up Cote, its all bunkum anyway I think.

CoteDAzur · 09/02/2009 19:18

Drugs have always been good to me, but sausages are vile
