She IS back at work today!

It was comfirmed in the French news this morning (RTL Radio) that she was indeed due back to work this afternoon.

Anyone thinking that it is not really serving the cause of women (asside from not being a very good idea medically) or am I out of order? I am not quite sure what she is trying to achieve as her reasons is not likely to be "because she needs the money" which I could probably undertand better, although it would still sadden me thad she'd have to.

Oh, you won't be watching Trisha for much longer, GM - it's been axed (I'm a media chick so staying well up-to-date with programme goss!).

Apparently he was seen at the baby clinic at the weekend...no Sherlock needed there! Some people reckon it might be the Spanish PM but he's fiercely denying it.

georgiemum · 09/01/2009 13:46

shock, horror... actually I don't watch it at all!

belgo · 09/01/2009 13:49

georgiemum I'm sure the conspiracy theories are flying around cyberspace

georgiemum · 09/01/2009 13:51

I just made that one. Lets release it into the ether and see how long before it turns up in the Mail.

The father could be John Major. He has form.

IotasCat · 09/01/2009 13:57

The internal stitches dissolve but the external ones need to be removed. A c section is a major op cutting through stomach muscle as well as the uterus .

georgiemum · 09/01/2009 13:59

More information that I needed then. She must be in a lot of pain then.

MrsGrouchoMarxMerryHenry · 09/01/2009 14:09

I once had a womb op which was basically the equivalent of a c-section. The pain is unbelievable and it takes you ages to heal.

georgiemum · 09/01/2009 14:11

I remember when mum had a kidney out (they do through the tummy). She never let on but I did see her once when she though no-one was looking and it just looked like she was going through hell.

MrsGrouchoMarxMerryHenry · 09/01/2009 14:12

It's awful when it's your mum suffering, isn't it?

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 09/01/2009 14:12

Never mind how she is coping with the baby - have you seen the SHOES she is wearing five days post-Caesarian. Skyscraper stilettos!
How does she DO it? And, motherofgod, WHY?

TheCrackFox · 09/01/2009 14:13

She is probably still high on all the morphine she had post op.

Gorionine · 09/01/2009 14:37

Ladyglen,[blush} I was trying to find motherofgod posts...

True, true!

(v funny - motherofgod!)

Bubble99 · 09/01/2009 14:44

I am so fond of quoting this. She is back because she followed the Joan Rivers method of childbirth.

'Knocked out before it starts and woken up when the hairdresser arrives.'

MrsGrouchoMarxMerryHenry · 09/01/2009 14:49

Fabulous!

spicemonster · 09/01/2009 15:18

You get a string stitch which they chop through on one end and yank. It doesn't hurt but they do it 5 days after the op. Perhaps she had a little man come in and do it while she was at her meeting

MrsGrouchoMarxMerryHenry · 09/01/2009 15:28

Youch! Sounds awful. I had Bride of Frankenstein staples. Looked horrific but now it's left a really neat scar.

belgo · 09/01/2009 15:29

that's brilliant Bubble99

Wizzska · 09/01/2009 17:48

I don't think I could even poo that soon after my c section, let alone work!

yesihavnamechangedd · 09/01/2009 18:05

I dont think I had my stitches out at that stage!

SwedesInACape · 10/01/2009 15:23

Poor woman. You only need look at her face to know that all is not truly well.

I am really torn. On the one hand I think it is up to her..... and what is the difference between her attending a meeting (where she will doubtless be sitting down on a comfy chair) and a woman arriving home from hospital post c-section to her inefficient husband, two now-feral children and a dirty house which she feels the need to put right? And on the other it makes me want to weep.

in england it is illegal to work for two weeks after giving birth. anyone who employs someone who has given birth within the last two weeks is breaking the law.
and if it is factory work, then the law is four weeks. not two.
obviously no idea about french law, but, i have a feeling it islikely to be a universal sort of thing, even if not actually law.
a caesarian is also majorsurgery. regardless ofthebirthofa child, itis medically stupid to return to work after such major physical trauma.
