What do you think about celebs looking brilliant days after giving birth?

Apparently the papers are full of pics of Victoria Beckham looking amazing today. I've got to go on a radio station and spout about pressure on new mums to get back in shape etc. etc. (being a talking head is occasionally part of my day job). Happy to do that, but thought I'd ask you guys for your opinions. I was going to say something about how depressing it is that some celebs feel the need to hide away for months until they can emerge, looking like their pre-pregnancy selves. And that the rest of us, who can't afford personal trainers and dietitians, feel we've achieved something if we manage to get dressed when we are coping with a newborn, let alone looking fit for the paparazzi!

I don't know whether I feel sorry for her or not. I don't know whether sympathy is an appropriate emotion for her. I know nothing whatsoever about her.

But did anyone see see that episode of Jamie Oliver's school dinners when a report of him shagging someone other than his wife was in the newspaper? His wife's revulsion about this kind of dirt touching her and her children's lives, was a reminder that behind all these images are real human beings, with real feelings, just like us.

I agree about Jools Oliver etc, Caligula. But the diference - imo - is that Jools Oliver hasn't ever, to my knowledge, craved the limelight and newspaper coverage for any other aspects of her life. I don't actually have a problem with VB per se (she's not important enough in my life to get upset about one way or the other!) but I find it hard to stomach all this bleating about poor little Posh when the woman has courted publicity the entirety of her adult life. I don't think she necessarily deserves it but I can't feel terribly sorry for her either!

and the feathers on that hat when he went to get his OBE or whatever, they made sure she came up to exactly the same height as him in the photographs

I'd love to be in her shoes - she's got some fab manalo blahniks (sp?)

Edam, what did you say in the end? Was it today? I wouldn't swap places with VB for anything.
