What do you think about celebs looking brilliant days after giving birth?

Apparently the papers are full of pics of Victoria Beckham looking amazing today. I've got to go on a radio station and spout about pressure on new mums to get back in shape etc. etc. (being a talking head is occasionally part of my day job). Happy to do that, but thought I'd ask you guys for your opinions. I was going to say something about how depressing it is that some celebs feel the need to hide away for months until they can emerge, looking like their pre-pregnancy selves. And that the rest of us, who can't afford personal trainers and dietitians, feel we've achieved something if we manage to get dressed when we are coping with a newborn, let alone looking fit for the paparazzi!

Crunchie, I'm not actually sure that's when the docs recommend electives - correct me if I'm wrong, because I've never had one, but I know that the risks of breathing difficulties (if the baby hasn't gone through labour) are still around four per cent at 38 weeks, whereas they go down dramatically in the following week. Which does, of course, risk labour (as happened to Aloha, poor love).

Well how d'you know Kama isn't VB?

And why is she too protective of someone she doesn't know? What's the difference between her defending someone she doesn't know, and everyone else attacking someone they don't know?

I don't have an axe to grind, I don't know VB and i have no idea what she's like. The only thing I do know about her, is that what the media tells me about her is probably unlikely to be true.

I Can think of a lot of people who i feel sorry for. A lot of people who deserve symathy..But how on earth can Posh spice be one of them.
The woman is rich beyond our wildest dreams, she has 3 beautiful healthy children, she has a hunky doting hubby and a very close knit family who do all they can to help and support her.
Why would anyone feel sorry for her?

What do I know MI I always thought it was about 37 weeks Anyway the point I was making was that Posh is not necessarily doing to avaoid stretchmarks or being really fat for the last few weeks, presumably the Dr's would have helped choose the date and wouldn't do anything to risk the baby's health. Also how do we actually know what date the baby was actually due, she may well have been lying to try to keep the press/public at bay, as we know she was hardly seen in the last few months.

Not at all Kama all views are welcome on a public forum, that was my point to you!!

Caligula · 29/03/2005 14:49

Um... there's a whole group of people out there who feel entitled to know VB's intimate thoughts about what she does and how she feels? That's one reason for feeling sorry for her I guess.

Victoria Beckham is not to be felt sorry for.
She grew up wanting to be in the limelight - she has now got it. And everything that goes with it.
Part and parcel the good and the bad, just like us mere souls.

spinelli · 29/03/2005 14:52

So Why do you feel sorry for Posh then kama? Because she is Thin? That is seriously screwed up!

In defence of Kama I think she feels sorry for VB beacuse of the slating she gets in the media, and by normal folk like us.

Let's not let this thread get out of hand though guys, there are far more important things to ahve a heated debate over

Thats a pathetic reason imho to feel sorry for someone. All the misery in the world and YOU feel "sorry" for VB???
I don't understand some people, I honestly don't.

toadhall · 29/03/2005 14:59

Posh would probably be more "insulted " by Kamas symathy than any thing else said here.

Think Kama is getting a bit of a hard time on here tbh.

MistressMary · 29/03/2005 15:03

Do you feel sorry for her?

spinelli · 29/03/2005 15:04

No toad hall...Kama has a lot of sympathy for.....Thin people! We should all be more understanding of the trials and tribulations that natrual skinnys go through.

spinelli · 29/03/2005 15:05

Sorry Kam ...couldn't resist. Honestly don't want to fall out so we will agree to disagree, yes?
