I just recieved an email containing all of the BNP members list, complete with phone numbers and address.

The story has been reported in the press online today:
here

Not sure what to do with it - teacher and a policewoman are on the list but kids are too.

So should a Muslim who believes homosexuality is a sin be allowed to work in a hospital? Can a Catholic who believes sex outside marriage is a sin be a doctor?

twinsetandpearls · 19/11/2008 19:29

I would immediatly write to the governers if I discovered any of dd teachers were in the BNP. If the teacher remained in post I would wwithdraw my child and be very public about my reasons.

I would go to the Daily Mail as it loves any teacher bashing news but I suspect they approve of the BNP.

twinsetandpearls · 19/11/2008 19:31

But the catholic or muslim in the situation does not want to send the people they disaprove of back to their own country.

As I said before I am a Catholic with strong beliefs I would not post shit through someones letter box or threaten anyone.

policeman sacked for being on the list

lulumama · 19/11/2008 19:44

you can be a concscientious objector to certain medical procedures on religious grounds, but it does not stop that person getting the procedure, it can be done by someone else

whihc is different to wanting all the non white children you teach, for e.g to go 'back home' or that SN childrne should no have mainstream educational provision.

i agree with stayfrosty

they have their own trade union anyway. they'll be quids in.

ruddynorah · 19/11/2008 19:53

open to all, apparently

chocolatedot · 19/11/2008 19:53

We'll have to agree to disagree but personally I think this is a really dangerous issue. I stick to the view that people should be entitled to hold private opinions so long as they keep them to themselves in their place of work and don't in any way allow their personal beliefs to influence their behaviour at work.

But actually I think the bigger danger in banning certain professions from being members of the BNP is that it makes the organisation seem bigger and more important than it is. The BNP has no seats in Parliament and only a very small number of council seats. OK, it might have a loud voice in a few pockets around the country but the reality is that it is a crackpot organisation with no power whatsover. Any ban (and indeed the dissemination of the membership list) makes it seem like it actually matters.

noonki · 19/11/2008 19:58

First sacking was a policeman - He deserved to go, people like him bring shame on the police.

lulumama · 19/11/2008 20:10

how could the police patrol and enforece the law impartially if they subscribe to the BNPs policies. the two things are mutually exclusive and the policeman sacked must have been aware his membership would lead to him losing his job if found out

want to read this later

chocolatedot · 19/11/2008 20:20

God I hate to give them the oxygen of publicity but it seems that the BNP don't advocate sending all non-white immigrants home. According to their manifesto, they would introduce a system of "voluntary resettlement" accompanied by financial incentives to encourage immigrants to leave. Pernicious of course, but a subtle difference nontheless.

I can see that being a police office is incompatible with being a BNP member due to the force's obligations under the race relations act.

ruddynorah · 19/11/2008 20:32

they do chocolatedot. go back a couple of years and it's there. the updated version is merely to make things more palatable and fit with the mainstream, ie attract more members and hence more money.

may i share with you some photos of the party chairman's old bodyguard..

looks a nice friendly chap eh?

ruddynorah · 19/11/2008 20:40

for chocolatedot

edam · 19/11/2008 21:00

chocolatedot, that's just spin. Like Herr Hitler being quite a nice man after all who had promised Chamberlain he wouldn't invade Czechoslovakia.

noonki · 19/11/2008 21:03

I heard Nick Griffin being interviewed and refusing to change his opinion on holocaust denial,

sick bastard.

OP posts:
chocolatedot · 19/11/2008 21:16

Don't get me wrong - I think they're utterly vile but fortunately, they have no power.

I don't know enough about them or their disgusting policies to know what's spin and what's not but they do seem to have obtained a national profile far far in excess of their actual membership / power base. Talk about spin!

noonki · 19/11/2008 21:24

I agree about that chocolatedot - fivelive pissed me off this pm, as they had 3 members on giving their opinions, hardly a debate, more like a advertising slot.

is it still online? does anyone know how I can view it?

StealthPolarBear · 19/11/2008 21:39

Don't mind admitting that I would have a problem with my doctor or teacher (if relevant) being a member.
What does it mean when it says "Activist" afetr someone's name? We seem to have a high proportion of them around here

GinghamRibbon · 19/11/2008 21:41

I fail to see how anyone can be sacked for belonging to a legal party.

I have voted BNP in local elections. Sorry. I know it's not what you want to hear, but the lady was trying to do a lot for us locally.

I would imagine that if anyone was sacked/fired for belonging to a party would have a lengthy claim against their employers.
