Have we not had a discussion about this? I'm surprised.

Seedy, sordid, unfunny little men pad obscene amounts of money to be obscene.

What's your view?

Sachs was very offended on the new tonight.

Am also startled to be agreeing with Piers Morgan.

Again, he mentions that Ross boasted he was "worth 1,000 BBC journalists' after a wave of mass redundancies had been announced". I wonder if some of the BBC's own coverage is by journalists who were sickened by such callousness.

LittleBellaLugosi · 29/10/2008 22:28

Hmm, yes that's a point, I bet some of those journos loathe him

"It means if you're prepared to give it out you have to be able to take it too"

but why should someone so obviously nice as this woman, who didn't do what several other people did, become like him and many other people who 'kiss and tell' just to get him back. It seems a silly way to go about things.

I know nothing about their union two years ago but obviously it meant something to her not to go to the press in the first place and wouldn't it be sad if she felt like she had to do this now when she didn't want to before.

"So why not make the best of a nasty situation?" is making the best out of a nasty situation necessarily selling your story, the one you didn't actually want to see?

Oh please, Piers Morgan knows all about being a callous bastard. He's done his fair share of shit-raking when someone has "crossed" him. Its coming to something when the papers are getting someone like him to comment on events.

GivePeasAChance · 29/10/2008 22:36

Really, please tell me you don't think I said "that bird who shagged RB" because that is what I would say??

I think you get no control when others have an agenda ( i.e. the journos, PR consultants, companies that own the papers) There is a much bigger picture here - as Upwind has just pointed out - and she is now right slap bang in the middle. I would personally rather have said nothing under those circumstances.

beaniescreamyb · 29/10/2008 22:36

IMO - the best possible story for her would be to not do anything which might upset her grandfather. She has a general idea what would upset her grandfather, I should think, so hopefully she will keep that in mind.

Has JR got a daughter? I think he has. In fact I heard him on something saying that she was dressing up for Halloween and he wasn't happy about what she was wearing, high heels, strong makeup, etc., as she looked like a transvestite tart or something.

So maybe this is behind his attitude towards the feelings of Georgina Bailey. She dresses like a tart so she must be a tart? So it's ok to not consider her feelings in such a 'prank'. Or maybe he thought that anyone who would sleep with RB (even before he was that famous) was a tart anyway and therefore not worthy of consideration. But he didn't consider Andrew Sachs feelings either, did he.

So how would JR feel (or RB for that matter if he had a daughter) if someone said what they did about her on a national radio show? I assume he wouldn't like it but maybe he believes his daughter would never sleep with an up-and-coming (no pun) comedian. Maybe he's right but it's early days yet, isn't it? Maybe his fame will eat him up in time, maybe through his children. Live by the sword, die by the sword. (I'm not sure Sir Bob is so happy about Peaches' antics.) I hope not though (hope his children do not get hurt).

Wonder if JR will get his knighthood in the long run?

beaniescreamyb · 29/10/2008 22:39

Do you think she'll be excercising her right to reply all the way through 2008 and into 2009?

beaniescreamyb · 29/10/2008 22:39

This whole thread would make a really good 'beass eye'

skyatnight - I'm terribly confused, you have got to be kidding me. We're on page 20 and now you introduce this new line of enquiry

beaniescreamyb · 29/10/2008 22:41

oooh sorry I mean 'Brass Eye' of course!

wintera · 29/10/2008 22:42

Don't think JR would have a problem with the way Georgina looks to be honest. His wife [Jane Goldman] is a gothic looking voluptuous lady isn't she?

Skyatnight = He has 2 daughters and 1 son.

skyatnight · 29/10/2008 22:45

I expect JR will tell his children: 'When you grow up, don't sleep with comedians or anyone who works for a tv network, or anyone famous, or anyone who wants to be famous or... Only sleep with people who live in a faraway country who don't speak English, or can't speak at all, who have no status or power and no money to pay Max Clifford (or does he work on a percentage?). Otherwise, no sex before marriage. Oh, and son, make sure when you do marry that she's got big tits like yer mother, fwah, hah, hah, hah (JR guffaw).

edam · 29/10/2008 22:48

MP, I doubt Ms Baillie posed for those photos to illustrate the article - the paper will have dug them up from somewhere. SHE didn't force her publicity shots under her Grandad's nose, it was Brand and Ross who did that.

edam · 29/10/2008 22:49

Doubt it, JR's wife was a journo who met him when she was 19 and sent to interview him by Just 17 or Smash Hits or something.

skyatnight · 29/10/2008 22:50

Yes, Wintera. I expect JR is thinking that Georgina fancies him. And that his future daughter-in-law will secretly fancy him too.

wintera · 29/10/2008 22:50

Can I go bed now?! My poor husband has hardly seen anything of me this week with all this kicking off!
