Have we not had a discussion about this? I'm surprised.

Seedy, sordid, unfunny little men pad obscene amounts of money to be obscene.

What's your view?

expatinscotland · 29/10/2008 21:58

oh, and russell's such a dignified person.

morningpaper · 29/10/2008 21:58

There is no power in passivity

No, but when it comes to the media, there is certainly dignity in silence.

beaniescreamyb · 29/10/2008 21:58

If we are giving her credit for not sellong her story before now then surely she loses some by doing it now?

LittleBellaLugosi · 29/10/2008 21:58

But it's absolutely par for the course that the focus has moved on to her behaviour, rather than his.

AitchTwoOh · 29/10/2008 21:59

rofl at pleb sleb, at media whore.

i for one do not begrudge her a flat out of this, i hope she makes pots of cash and gets her grandad a great present for christmas.

beaniescreamyb · 29/10/2008 21:59

I don't think Brand had any dignity to lose To be honest.

morningpaper · 29/10/2008 21:59

lol I don't think Brand or Ross would give a toss about their dignity

Their careers are based on them lacking any sense of dignity

wintera · 29/10/2008 21:59

I'm not arsed about her telling her side of the story to be honest. Couldn't give a monkeys. Totally agree that her and her poor old Grandpa have been dragged into this. But Max Clifford for fuck's sake!!!! Surely he is well slimier than Russell Brand! I mean really!

AitchTwoOh · 29/10/2008 22:00

totally, littlebella. depressing. she has to be whiter than white, they get to be utter cocks.

i'm pretty horrified, however, to find myself nodding along to PIERS MORGAN!

morningpaper · 29/10/2008 22:01

I don't think anyone would think twice about her if she hadn't sold her story

She would have been totally forgotten

But TBH what a Sensible Strategy Is depends on what your career is, and she apparently wants a career as a meedja monkey so fair enough

This is soo irrelevant though

beaniescreamyb · 29/10/2008 22:01

The focus will move onto her behaviour! If we are giving her Kudos in the first place for behaving with dignity and not selling her story in the last two years then we should surely take some away when she finally does - whatever the circumstances.

And yes, I think Ross has lost some dignity.

LittleBellaLugosi · 29/10/2008 22:07

oh come off it ross never had any

as for her, none of us knew anythign about her so didn't know if she had any or not

that piers morgan article is delicious - really putting the boot in, isn't he? nothing like meedja mates falling out.

lilysmummy2007 · 29/10/2008 22:09

isnt she woried about the distress it would cause her granddad when he reads said story in the papers?? dont like brand or ross, overpaid and not in the least funny, they should not have done that to the poor old man.

wintera · 29/10/2008 22:11

Piers Morgan??!! Well thats rich. He's one to talk about people dishing it and not being able to take it. Remember his hate campaign against Ian Hislop when he was at The Mirror? And that was because IH stood up to him on Have I got News for You. Another slimey bastard wading in.

yes it's great isn't it?

I hope Dennis Norden pops up with a crushing remark about what JR did to the film programme. I never quite forgave the BBC for taking on JR instead of him.

morningpaper · 29/10/2008 22:13

I am not tut-tutting her

The evidence at our disposal does however suggest that neither her or Sachs were actually offended

and neither were the listeners (except for 2)

and yet there are 27,000 complaints

most odd

BabyBaby123 · 29/10/2008 22:15

JR's apology comes across as very insincere imo. He's just concerned about his pay packet - nothing else - he seems to have gone into hiding - spineless git

LittleBellaLugosi · 29/10/2008 22:15

The evidence is that she was extremely offended. I don't really know how else you can interpret her comments so far.

wintera · 29/10/2008 22:15

Sorry LittleBellaLugosi - Cool name by the way! Do you mean Barry Norman??

beaniescreamyb · 29/10/2008 22:15

"max the humiliation for Brand. What's sauce for the goose and all that."

So it's good for everyone then? To behave like that. So it's ok for Brand then, period.

I still want to know what kind of power it is that you aren't allowed to wield or use to defend yourself or turn into some kind of material advantage. Is it a special type of ladypower that only exists when ladies keep their mouths shut whilst gentlemen say whatever they like about them?

Quote of the week!

LittleBellaLugosi · 29/10/2008 22:16

oh yes i do!

LOL, get all those old men mixed up. Barry Norman is much nicer than Denis Norden isn't he?!

morningpaper · 29/10/2008 22:18

The evidence is that she was extremely offended. I don't really know how else you can interpret her comments so far.

Clifford's Her comments are that her grandfather would be terribly upset, which were charmingly illustrated by a full-page spread of her semi-naked brandishing a riding crop. Which does REALLY suggest that she isn't really THAT worried about the offence issues involved. Now admittedly I am reading between the lines and might be waaaaaaaaaay off.

GivePeasAChance · 29/10/2008 22:18

Dittany - IMO it's just not a very wise move to sell out......however you look at it. It's not that she has to be dignified, it's just not a well laid plan because it is NOT on your terms ( think The Sun and Max Clifford) Maybe in the short term she might get a flat out of it and some nice christmas presents. But she could have been forgotten and made her way doing what she did - dancer? But being known as the "bird who shagged RB" isn't necessarily something for the "sisters".

Don't we tell each other to ignore the children's bad behaviour?

But joining in and arguing just makes everything so much worse.

Back to what mabanana said - it's the worship of the £. And I find that equally as immoral as the lack of respect RB showed to Mr Sachs and his GD.
