Is this true? because the Daily Mail reported it so obviously I need something more reliable than that

Last year Guardian reported 'there were no plans' for a state funeral.

Anyone heard this from anywhere other than the DM?

doh!

i think state funeral, national holiday and perhaps street parties when she pegs it

kew, i think student grants were frozen under the tories
I got the same amount each year for my 3 years as a student (89-92) loans were introduced in my second year
so it was the beginning of a slippery slope

I can see I was possibly a tad norty misleading with this thread title

I am simultaneously guilty of causing both a moments excitment and crushing disappointment. Ah well least you had he excitment bit eh?

However - hilarious responses, TW I did like the link and mrsweasley's I hadn't heard that, and a lovely reminder of the sue t poem! And the many many other very funny people on here.

.....

And it seems the Guardian has caught up So they we go, DM finger on pulse of Nation, reporting from the edge (but not too close, don't want to go to close to those bloody foreigners )

Not even, not sure why it's come up now.

State funerals do take planning but she's 82 and failry healthy.

fark knows, I register my opposition here ealry anyway.

Is there anything we can do to bring this forward then? In the interests of good planning??

lol Pna, was going to post, I'm happy to do anything to facilitiate the success of her funeral....

TwoIfBySea · 14/07/2008 21:32

And here was me thinking she won't die until someone drops a house on her and we can all dance around the town square singing "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead."

Was that just a dream?

JT · 14/07/2008 23:09

A great Prime Minister deserves a great send off.

I'm pleased she's being recognised.

HumphreyCushioni · 14/07/2008 23:11

I keep seeing this in active convos, and giggling at Fabio's comment:

"Is she dead?
Or are we not waiting till then?"

This thread reminds me of Chris Morris announcing the death* of Jimmy Savile on Radio 1. He got sacked for it.

I remember the 70's and 80's all too well and growing up on Merseyside I saw first hand what her policies (and perhaps she didn't do it single-handedly but she certainly didn't mind taking the credit) did to the country outside of the South East. I remember the absolute despair she and her cronies created.

And I was soooo upset when I clicked on this and realised she wasn't actually dead yet....

Tinker · 14/07/2008 23:24

Will we get a day off?

zippitippitoes · 15/07/2008 08:13
