In terms of the jury deliberations I would fully expect them to be lengthy and take enough time to consider the weight of the evidence against the defendant. Its incredibly sordid.

The testimony suggests that a number of women were subjected to sexual assaults and it suggests that the defendant is a predator who sought gratification from women and gave no heed to whether they were willing or not. I believe the women.

Lets hope the jury does the right thing and provides justice to these women. These women came forward but how many others are out there that havent been able to come forward for fear of being shamed and humiliated by a dehumanising criminal justice system and / or not wanting to relive their trauma.

A rapist doesn’t rape everyone they have sex with. Defence reaching much?

roobyred · 02/11/2026 12:30

I find Ian Winter’s defence to be completely out of touch when you think what has happened with people like Saville, Epstein, Weinstein. And other proven historic sex crimes like abuse in schools etc. It’s like they are on a different planet.

roobyred · 02/11/2026 12:31

Lhori · 02/11/2026 12:03

Brilliant defense! It could work for most crimes.

  • He didn't kill everyone he came into contact with, so it seems very unlikely that he is a murderer.
  • He pays for an awful lot of his drinks, so there is no way he nicked that bottle whisky.
  • He only embezzled money from some of his clients, so it probably didn't happen. After all, he did have a lot of clients.

Hopefully there’s somebody like you on the jury @Lhori

I know! And the whole "only 3 rapes" thing. I thought the prosecutions closing statement was really good on Friday. I'm now worried that this will sway people (which I totally understand is the point!). Also, it seems unfair that this is the last thing they hear before deliberation.

i have been following and I’m afraid I have no faith that he will be convicted. I hope I’m wrong

Exactly in the same way a paedophile doesn’t attack every child they have access to.
Sexual predators select their victims.

Brand was seeking 'approval' and 'adoration', jury told
Ian Winter KC says it is an "extremely curious feature of this case" that out of many, many women Brand had sex with during the period of 1999 to 2009, only three of them say they did not consent.
He suggests that is a "hole" in the prosecution's case, saying they don't have a "case thesis" as to why Brand allegedly raped these three women and none of the many others.
Earlier Winter told the jury that "living a highly promiscuous life is entirely lawful however morally distasteful you may find it". He returns to that theme now, saying "even being manipulative in the pursuit of consensual sex is completely lawful".
He says Brand was "seeking approval" and "seeking adoration".

As a juror this would beg the question - there are only 3 rape allegations before us now. That does not by any means mean that there only 3 rapes …

Wow 'only 3 rape allegations' only 3 .....

Good grief, thats a defence!

Gengha · 02/11/2026 12:47

I don’t think it’ll take that long for a verdict. It’s not been that long a trial and there aren’t massive volumes of evidence.

I think he’ll be acquitted.

LambriniBobInIsleworthISeesYa · 02/11/2026 12:50

The defence summing up there is nuts. Actually mad. I hope he gets sent down for a very long time, awful individual.

I know! It’s like hey, there’s 66m people in this country and I’m only accused of murdering one, what’s the big deal!

Dizzywizz · 02/11/2026 12:58

I’m surprised the judge didn’t comment on it…it almost sounds like he’s confirming there were 3 rapes!

TFImBackIn · 02/11/2026 13:01

So basically if anyone's up on trial for rape, the defence is going to be "Well, isn't it interesting that nobody else has complained about it?" Honestly, that could apply every crime from murder to burglary. I pity anyone having to come up with a defence for Brand, but that really is pathetic.

I asked how long people thought on the last thread. I’m with you, I think it will be decided by Friday. I think they might be not guilty on some but hoping at least two I’m thinking of were evidenced enough (if he is guilty of course).

One of the problems with jury trials is people not understanding this phrase. It means you can have reasonable doubt. But the system actually seems to allow jurors their own interpretation.

I don't trust the jury system since I was in a jury and two women refused to find someone guilty because they fancied his barrister. There was no way for me to complain about it because what's discussed is meant to be secret.

No, it means there can be possible doubt. So in most cases a defendant can put forward a reason for the evidence that could mean they are not guilty. Ie the witnesses are lying and have a vendetta, or they are mistake, or the incriminating messages on my phone were written by someone else when I lost it. There can be possible doubt but that no reasonable person would doubt the guilt. It’s a high bar.

HorseandHeron · 02/11/2026 13:18

As a juror this would beg the question - there are only 3 rape allegations before us now. That does not by any means mean that there only 3 rapes …

It also begs the question: if this man was so used to getting his way with any woman he liked, did he lack the humanity, awareness and restraint to stop when these women said no? Was he deaf to the idea that any woman might choose to reject him?

You've proved my point rather. As a phrase it's open to interpretation and the jury is not given an absolute meaning.

Apparently it's 'sure' now which is also a tricky word. With no medical evidence no rape would be convicted as I would say that I can't be sure as I wasn't there and nobody else saw it happen, there was no recording of it.

I've read every scrap of evidence. I'd like to see him go down. But will 12 people say they are 'sure'?

Squeakytoys · 02/11/2026 13:22

Ian Winter KC proving why so many women never feel able to speak up.

It took me 10 years to even tell a therapist I had been raped. And that was after many appointments before I felt safe too. And the guy who raped me wasn't a celebrity

Pumpkindoodles · 02/11/2026 13:22

Controversially I think it’s a pretty good defence. I think people are inclined to believe men anyway. I would liken it to a billionaire asking why would I need to steal something when I can buy anything I want?
he was famously sleeping with so many women and so many were more than willing to sleep with him, why would he need to do this.
to be clear I don’t agree, but I just think it could convince some people.

I think woman 1 is the one I think he'll be found guilty of, if any. That was the one where she was really young and inexperienced, and thought he was gay. There was something quite compelling about her evidence (although I believe all the women).

Klippin · 02/11/2026 13:24

“The fact he behaved normally during and after all of those ‘rapes’ tells you what you need to know. He believed they were all consenting,”

“You would have to be a psychopath to be raping someone and asking them if they were enjoying it at the same time.”

Ummmmmm - how much is this guy getting paid? 😅😅😅
