The Restore Britain March seems to have gone pretty well today from what I can glean online.

It could be a faulty algorithm, but the trouble the PM seemed to think would happen doesn’t seem to have materialised. I’ve seen clips from the march where a diverse mix of people have marched, not just football hooligan types.

I know of black people who attended. Gosh this place as usual is a sneering hot pot of middle class snobbery. Just read some of the posts what a huge majority on MN actually hate is the working class. Blindingly obvious, you can shout racist far right as much as you like to try and hide your snobbery. Doesn’t wash.

Are you saying the Labour Government have control of our borders? Hahahahaha.

Net migration has fallen from 800k to 200k since the last election.

The small boats thing remains a problem, but (a) is only a fraction of those numbers and (b) is almost impossible to fix without either torpedoing them in the channel, or rejoining the EU.

Don't let facts get in the way of your frothing though.

Those photos looked to me like they were taking inspiration from the Ku Klax Klan.

There are definitely some methodological and rhetorical crossovers

I would not go to a TR march, but I read here in MN from posters who attended the other march boasting how they shouted Nazi Scum at some of the TR ones
because it felt good.

This is so wrong.

Goading on both sides is wrong.

Haha - that was me - didn’t realise how popular and widely read my posts were - heartwarming.

Yes - I think Tommeh supporters have a very high chance of being Nazi scum - and if my March wants to say so then I’m ok with that. We didn’t attack, call them stupid c^nts, slags, say we hoped their kids were raped - we also didn’t throw bottles or piss at them - really it was the height of good behaviour in return just chanting that.

As it also happens Nazi - Scum is a regular chant on these marches and so it wasn’t even thought up as a new, unique way to be horrible to them. We would have been chanting something as we passed by, as that is what we do throughout a March.
Further either side marching past a presence of the other, will say something considered apt as well - so for us it was Nazi scum - for them it’s usually ‘slags etc’ as above - I’m sure they got over it.

Thanks again for engaging with my post - maybe if you respond in the actual thread it’s on next time I’ll be able to respond more quickly.

I’m not criticising a post.

I have reservations about the behaviour referenced in the post.

Again, do two wrongs make a right?

OK. Referencing a post then. If you are going to reference another poster's words from another thread in their absence, don't cherry pick those words. It is rather dishonest.

Some pro Palestine arrests are just because people hold a poster with the name of a banned group. They aren't actually doing anything wrong.

Is that the peace loving banned group that broke into an RAF base and caused £7 million worth of damages?

I notice that the poster did cherry pick in their response.

There was no reference to the part where they said it felt good to call someone minding their business Nazi Scum.

As I repeatedly said, goading on both side is wrong.

Oh no! I have quite a few 8s in my date of birth. I had to give my details for a medical appointment the other day and the guy on the phone said that he hoped I didn't mind him saying how great my DOB was. I thought it was a bit odd but naively assumed 8 was his lucky number or some similar harmless nonsense. I now realise he is probably a Hitler loving, arsehole fascist. I feel quite sad about that.

8 is the lucky number in parts of China.

Yes much like the chants of “death death to the idf “ and “from the river to the sea”

Not quite sure what that has to do with Keir Starmer being called a "wanker", but never mind.

There are pictures of marchers carrying large crosses- why?

Yes - it felt good to outnumber them - to show there are more of us than there were of them - not to be overwhelmed by bottle throwing, piss throwing abuse whilst chanting our message.

In that situation it does actually feel good to say what you bloody think of them - we are always polite and debate and try to correct incorrect information- gets you nowhere tbh but we try - on such as this I can say what I think, in a controlled context, within the overall vibe of the event - yeah feels good then.

They may only have been surprised at the mildness we evidenced in return.

I would much rather there was no need to root out Tommeh’s merry band of fascists and Nazis - and consider stuff like my words - but there is, and I’ll continue every single time I have to do so.

The only thing so far I will change my mind on is that whilst I said it might not be nice initially- it obviously wasn’t so bad what we do, now I’ve explained it, and it wasn’t out there or personally abusive, so I retract that might not be nice now and think it’s ok in that situation - thank you for that.

Starmer has made such a huge mistake in calling ordinary British people, of all backgrounds, 'far right thugs'. It's astonishing that the person elected to represent them gives the appearance of thinking of the British public with contempt. If people feel unheard, it's his job to ask why and then listen, not dismiss and insult them. I hope the march remains peaceful.

Just like Gordon Brown's "bigotted woman" remark! These out of touch politicians really don't understand huge swathes of "normal" people.

They’re using religion - Christianity- as a reminder of the Crusades. I believe some consider the far right movement a crusade at the minute - against Islam - so that’s a call to fight under the banner of God.

it adds some apparent respectful veneer to what they are saying they think too. They’re true Christians defending the British churches.

Tenconi takes a lot of crosses out and about too - UKIP.

Tommeh made a fuss re his ‘conversion’

It is copying the US imo but not sure they get the same traction with that in the U.K. - they will try anything though.

AnythingButThis · 17/05/2026 11:33

manipulative and organised role play - absolutely not Christian in my book

Oh you mean when Gordon Brown was perfectly polite to what was, indeed a bigoted woman, and expressed his frustration in what should have been a private place but was leaked to the press? And then the right wing press absolutely crucified him and forced an apology to said bigoted woman and then continued to monster him, up to and past the point we got a hard right government pursuing an agenda to smash our public services?

Yeah. He was right. It's important to speak up against prejudice and misinformation.

Absolutely, you have your reasons.

I just feel uneasy when someone feels good when calling others scum.

Same applies for other insults, obviously calling someone a slag and similar isn’t right.

Thing is they are just that mainly. There’s a high proportion of ex football hooligans. There’s an exceptionally high number of men on these protests that have records of DV and SA. Tommeh has convicted SOs numbered in his friends.

It’s not everyone I know - but there then is the thought of why do you stand with these people.

QueenOfHiraeth · 17/05/2026 11:35

This sneering snobbery on Mumsnet is a disgrace. A little bit of rational thought and consideration of why some people might feel the way they do would be a better approach than condemning them all as far-right racists in my view

Should I have taken a photo? My point being - if you listen to Kiar Starmer, he made out that these people attending the UK March we’re racist thugs. I very much doubt a Chinese and black family are racist.

But what do you mean by that? Of course a Chinese man or a black man can be racist
the same as any race can be.

Parker231 · 17/05/2026 11:38

climbintheback · 17/05/2026 11:30

You don’t need to be a Christian to live in the UK so why demonstrate holding huge crosses?

Piggywaspushed · 17/05/2026 11:39

As it goes , I personally know quite a few people who went on the march. They are far Right racists and members of football firms.
