If there’s already a thread I couldn’t see it.

I know it’s worrying. There is an area not far from me that this has been happening for a while. I feel it’s the beginning of the break down of society.
If the police can’t control and stop it where will it lead to next.

It’s not the responsibility of the police. It’s the responsibility of parents.

Imdunfur, in our Welsh area, it is white kids causing the trouble. Demographics

Because the demographic is that London has a higher proportion of black/ethnic minority ppl than does my area in Wales

And I'm sure other Mumsnetters live in places that reflect this too

Combination of absent fathers, low education.

Not all black boys are like this, my mum home tutored a black boy (Antiguan parents) whose mum was a single mum, lived in a council house, he did see his dad too. He went to college and uni, started his own business screen printing T-shirts which were sold in Top man and Harrods, he bought a council house from his auntie, single dad but sees his DD, is now an interior designer. Mid-late 40s. As far away from the black stereotypical youths as you can imagine. He always had support from his mum though who was a lawyer for the local council.

This man is now a family friend and I saw him recently for lunch.

And yet it's poor white boys, closely followed by the girls, who are at the bottom of the education and employment lists.

But it isn't poor white boys and girls rampaging in a group through our cities.

Go figure.

Yep exactly this.

Poor white boys are the most marginalised, ignored group. They are not out in mega mobs of hundreds of them and carrying zombie knives ransacking shops and terrifying anyone in the vicinity and attacking emergency workers.

A lot of parents (mothers) of black boys, work and try to educate their sons and treat them to treat society with respect. It’s not their fault that sometimes they get mixed up in gang warfare or hang with the wrong people. So they are not feckless parents.

I was surrounded by a group of rollerskating kids in C London on the day, as I mentioned upthread. They were all white. Didnt do anything but vaguely scary.
I live in SE London and shoplifting is endemic. All the ones I have seen are white.

Poor white boys are apparently rioting and looting in other cities if what I’ve read here is correct, Scotland eg.

I haven’t actually seen any shoplifting recently, also live in SE London. I have seen on occasion though eg in Peckham black boys running after clashing (near the high street) police called etc.

ffsnewusername · 03/04/2026 12:17

We get gangs of kids up here in Chester but we get nothing like this.

The odd bit of antisocial behaviour but this is something else.

IMO they need to hunt these feral brats down and charge the lot. Including the parents that allow this.

These kids are feral, and it’s frightening that I am forced to bring my kids up around them.

If they were all roller skating that’s bizarre but honestly kind of impressive.

This is a thread about what in happened in Clapham but it always turns out the same lines/excuses oh others are doing it...like that makes it okay! or excuses what they did. In these days of mobile phones and Tik Tok etc there is no hiding the culprits.

Nothing will ever change or get better as the same lines are trotted out on repeat making excuses and saying other groups do it. Not like this they don't. The police know it, M&S know it - they have CCTV footage.

@GonnagetgoingreturnsagainWe all teach our children not to get mixed up in the wrong crowds.
Sometimes we need to draw the line somewhere and if that means removal of benefits and social housing then that’s what we must do.

It isn’t fair to normal everyday law abiding citizens that have to live amongst these feral people.

I would go even further and make it law, I would even say that if the kids involved are child of migrants then they should be deported.

We cannot go on like this, I’m sick of seeing weeping parents on the tv because some gutter rat have stabbed their child to death. I’m sick of it.

There were massive riots instigated by teenagers in Cardiff a couple of years ago. Far worse than these - cars set on fire in the street.

It can happen anywhere and it’s not related to skin colour.

I think it intensifies in SW London because it is a tale of two cities. An areanwhere a three bed terrace sells for £1m plus and where £4m plus homes are but a few hundred yards from some of London's most deprived estates. Some people on those estates are good and honest people teaching their dc right from wrong and protecting them massively which usually means they have far more supervision than the children in the rich houses. Others are absent and lawless. Ot isn't difficult to understand how those who have been failed every step of the way get sucked into this or look up to the drug delaets who have nice cars and nice watches and in the eyes of the deprived (in every way) seem to offer a route out. It's exploited by those who run the drug cartels, usually "respectable" white men in the home counties formerly known as the gin and jag belt.

Years of deprivation, little hope and the failure of the liberal left, infiltrating the local councils, the big comps, the FE colleges and the police, who have collectively forgotten the fundamental difference between right and wrong and the fair application of the law, are at the heart of it. It's about standards and the privileged liberals have forgotten that some poor people on the states have and want standards and are doing their very best for and to protect their children.

It’s not related to skin colour but you cannot deny, mostly in London but could be Birmingham, Nottingham etc that gang crime is mostly black on black. With the odd Asian mixed in.
