I'm sure I remember somebody posting on one of the long threads last year that she thought, with hindsight, that LL had been her midwife when she gave birth. She didn't remember the midwife's name but some of the pictures in the press looked similar to her recollection of this midwife, who was memorable because she was cold and irritable, if I remember rightly.

Here you go - I seem to have misremembered a few of the details, but mostly correct:

I’m so tired of seeing her and hearing about her. I cannot imagine what it’s doing to the families of her victims. In this day and age she would not have been charged and found guilty unless there was overwhelming evidence.
She actually carried out a miscarriage scan on me. Out of all the healthcare professionals I saw throughout three pregnancies, she was the only one that DH and I really remember because she was so lacking in empathy for our situation. She was cold, irritated with me being upset and just unpleasant. She really upset me in what was already a traumatic situation. So I have zero interest in her being given any sympathy.

I've just been watching the BBC news and apparently some experts have been questioning the validity of Lucy Letbys conviction. I must say when I read...

Would a children’s nurse be doing a miscarriage scan on (presumably) an adult? Wouldn’t that be the job of sonographers and gynaecologists?

IVFlife · 01/09/2025 05:32

Specially trained mws can do mc scans too but I didn't think she was a mw?

Nurses at fertility clinics can also be trained to do this but again same as above.

prh47bridge · 01/09/2025 07:56

No, she was not a midwife. She was a neonatal nurse. She would not have carried out miscarriage scans. I think the poster is misremembering.

In this day and age she would not have been charged and found guilty unless there was overwhelming evidence

I'm afraid this is delusional. Despite our system supposedly being weighted in favour of defendants, we convict innocent people all the time. There is at least one miscarriage of justice a week, and that's just the ones where the courts accept that the conviction was wrong. It is likely that there are many more where the innocent defendant is never able to overturn their conviction.
