These sports are addictive, it's the adrenallin rush of the race but also the danger. When you become a racing driver you know there's a better than average chance you're going to die. Only a fool would think otherwise, and given his brother had died and he had been seriously injured he knew what he was up against, but he went ahead and did it anyway.
