I’m not surprised it was Tempest, they are awful and some of their photographers make no adjustments for SEN children whatsoever. I’m glad the school stood by the parents.

As the parent of a child with complex needs who works in a mainstream school with children with complex needs it makes me a combination of angry and sad. The poor parents made to feel their children aren’t good enough.

I imagine there will be some MN cognitive dissonance on this. It's good that people see this as horrendous. However, there are regularly threads/posts here suggesting that SEND pupils ought to be removed permanently from mainstream classrooms because of their malign influence on 'normal children'.

I don’t understand how this happened. The school are saying that it wasn’t them. But surely the teacher noticed when the class was being split up? Or is the school one with a specific unit for complex needs and so they took one photo of Mrs Jackson’s class 3J and then took another photo of all of Year 3 which includes the Year 3 kids in the unit? It just seems such an awful thing to do which makes me think that I am missing something.

The only way I could see this happening is if in fact there were 3 options and the photographer thought there were two groups of kids in the year so took one of each group separately and one of the year.

This doesn't seem to be the case as it sounds like TWO options were available. So someone needs to be investigated by the police for hate crime.

I have to sort of agree. For this to be an option, there must have been requests in the past for the sections with certain children in to be removed. And for those to be removed it suggests that they have been photographed separately on purpose.

The way a lot of photos are done now the children are photographed in smaller groups and then those groups are put together to make one photo so it would be easy to group certain children together and then leave out that group.
