the temptation when under such scrutiny to send out a pic where you look good. It’s very clear in that image she looks pale and drawn, she’s lost a lot of weight and was already very slim.

I doff my hat to you if you’ve never looked at a photo where you think you look shit and everyone else says you look fine. Or felt tempted to edit it. Sure it was a mistake, clearly. Look at all the crazies out. And deeply regrettable. But as for thr temptation to do,it. Fuck yes. I would.

She didn't have to release that photo on that day... it was a calculated choice for whatever reason and I don't agree that we should over look it. They are not ordinary people and do not have the same freedoms. They have near limitless resources. Its not a "mistake", you cannot accidentally edit a photo to oblivion. If we cannot trust them with a photograph how on earth can we trust them to lead the nation (since people seem to forget that they actually do!)

Someone upthread mentioned Xmas decorations - the first log cabin, where a woman in white is sitting with her back to the photo, the dangling bits on the left side of the cabin looks like mistletoe!

For KP to share this image with them with a view to distributing to the world smacks of either incompetence, sloppiness or arrogance.

If Meghan had major surgery and took time out of the public eye to recover, and people insisted that actually Harry had divorced her/ harmed her, she was having a mental health breakdown, was in rehab or actually just getting a facelift people would 'lose their shit' too so ...

Kate looks like she has been very, very poorly.

But she is clearly recovering. And she looks different to her former healthy looking self.

So, as the palace stated, Kate had a health issues, it was dealt with, she is on sick leave and will soon be back to normal.

Shame on the posters who harassed this woman with nasty speculations about her marriage or what sorts of health issues she suffered from.

I was signed off sick (only a few weeks) and was told for legal reasons I wasn’t allowed to work unless I was signed back on by a Dr, stating I was fit to work.

@GoldThumb You do not need to be signed back on. Employers only ask for that if they suspect you may not be well enough to return. I was off sick for 6 weeks after being in hospital and did not need to be signed back on.

One of the newspapers has been down there and confirmed it’s exactly as it looked when the video was taken at the weekend. Another site checked the video files (forget what it’s called) and confirmed it was at 11:43 whichever day it was taken.

And the reason they didn't disclose more info at the start was probably to protect the dc. Fair enough. I am guessing there was genuine and deep concern about her health, which they didn't want the public to speculate on to protect the children.

I can see how it would be an issue if they aged Wills up a bit through editing and said 'here's the king, fit and well' or whatever.

Royalty have literally always manipulated their image - back to portraits of Henry VIII and beyond. The technology has moved on, but the need to portray whatever version of 'royal' or 'strong' or 'majestic' etc goes right to the root of who they are and what function they serve as an institution. Kate has been put in the role of picture perfect princess and that's what they need her to be, and what they need to portray.

People couldn't just accept that she had surgery and was recovering - it was all clamouring and conspiracy and insisting that Wills was trying to get rid of her or she was trying to escape, or worse that she'd been harmed in some way. So they felt pressure to release a photo and more pressure than usual probably to make it one where she and the kids looked happy and well and not like anyone was being coerced to be there or was covering facelift scars or a black eye or whatever else.

It was pretty bloody thick to think they'd get away with it maybe, given the level of speculation, but I guess I just can't see where the malicious intent was.

Plus Kate doesn't, and never will, 'lead the country'.
