If WW3 happens and Russia starts bombing UK, what do you plan to do? Do you have a plan of what you would do? Would you stay home or flee the country.. where would you choose to flee to?

I fear a misunderstanding resulting in a nuke attack

The longer this goes on,more chance of mistakes

Putin has a point initially but played it up. The Americans and our lot were over there during the elections a few years ago - would we accept Russians messing in England with our elections?

Never forget, the vast majority of politicians are wealthy, have access to other countries, bunkers lots of money and often the little man in the street in every country will lose out as they always do

Send Putin, Bidne, Sunka, the french guy and a few others with their croonies to a desert, give them guns and let them fight it out - trust me they wont accept the offer

In the event of Nuclear War, there would be nowhere for anyone to run and hide. Even if you survived the initial explosions, radioactive fallout would get you before long.

Lurkingandlearning · 23/02/2024 15:17

So what will you be doing when the end is nigh?

TeaGinandFags · 23/02/2024 15:34

Sergei Labrov suggested that Russia could turn us into a Martian desert within 3 minutes.

I suspect if the worst happens we won't actually have time to worry about it.

We could go and stay with PIL in the countryside if necessary, and eat their chickens.

And get cancer 2 weeks later from fallout.

SgtJuneAckland · 23/02/2024 15:40

😂

ItsAllAboutTheDosh · 23/02/2024 15:41

Only those with private jets would be getting out. What would I do? Finally be opening the bottle of champagne in my fridge and eating my body weight in chocolate while cuddling my family. What else can you do?

Although I would first fill every bottle and sink with water just in case we do all survive.

It would be wasteland, hopefully we would fire nukes at Russia in retaliation

judging on a test fire a few days ago, we wouldn't and tbf what would the point? the deterrent would have failed.

Especially if Trump gets re-elected!

Start learning Russian?

I'd probably open a bottle of something and sit and think about options until the bombs hit.

We moved from the north of England when we were little, moved to London.
London is a main target but I' hope we could try to move to a self-declared "new clear zone" as declared by a free towns and cities and Manchester being one of them. Therefore, Manchester could be a safe bet.

I'm probably going by old fashioned talk of New Zealand being the ''Safest'' place.
My natural mother, and later adoptive mother were both involved in CND so I'm likely very out of touch with modern Nuclear stuff- but even back in the1980's it was considered 'Game over' with nuclear winters wiping out food sources and polluting water &c and radiation sickness.

''Protect and Survive'' and ''When the wind blows'' are about where my knowledge ends re nuclear warfare as it's just so depressing.

Humans are the worst thing for the Earth.
We have destroyed the Planet like no other animal possibly could.

As recently as last year researchers were still saying Australia and NZ were deemed the most capable of sustaining their populations in the aftermath of a nuclear war, super volcano eruption or asteroid impact.

Worth a try!

For those getting in small boats, walking the channel tunnel etc… Why would Russia be attacking the UK and not the rest of Europe? We’re still in NATO! An attack on 1 is considered an attack on all.

Not just North Atlantic, there are defence agreement crossing the globe https://2009-2017.state.gov/s/l/treaty/collectivedefense/

If all of NATO is under attack, where do you think you are going that will be any safer? That is why is is called a World war, most of the world is pulled in in some form or another.

I shall be grateful for those heading away from the mini eggs or whatever chocolate there is when I got looting for my sugar coma ingredients.

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 24/02/2024 11:05

How many mini eggs do you think you would need to eat to induce a coma?

You can tell those who didn't grow up during the Cold War and have no idea what nuclear war means.

Because the nuclear fallout knows not to blow over Manchester?

notimagain · 24/02/2024 12:05

@Abra1t

True, but I'm continually amazed on threads like this at the number of posters who seem to have had a look at the Russian nuclear target set.

I dont know but Manchester ad the like must be aware of something you and I are not.

countrygirl99 · 24/02/2024 12:50

Back in the 80s the government was insisting that LAs had detailed Plas for after a nuclear strike. Some councils like Manchester and Sheffield resisted on the basis that it was a waste of resources and so declared themselves nuclear feee zones. The Government insisted so they wrote realistic guides to what would happen in the event of an nuclear strike.
