If WW3 happens and Russia starts bombing UK, what do you plan to do? Do you have a plan of what you would do? Would you stay home or flee the country.. where would you choose to flee to?

Good point. Will be people leaving in droves on foot. Scenes that we've seen before, many times

We're on an island, we wouldn't get far. There's only so many boats.

SummerSnowstorm · 08/08/2024 19:53

I remember reading about staying in the most central closed room in the building to reduce radiation exposure, so we'd all be in the understairs cupboard for the first few days. I think it said 3 days.

Darklane · 12/08/2024 16:49

I remember when it was the Cuban Missile Crisis ( I’m old) we were advised we’d get a four minute warning of any incoming nuclear missile & to get under the stairs with a table propped in front, assuming you had an under the stairs 🙄
Personally if there was a nuclear missile on it’s way I’d hope to be standing right underneath where it lands.

PuzzledParrott · 30/08/2024 15:22

Well if a nuke was heading over, I’d try my best to be right underneath it. Better that than be a survivor in whatever comes next.

Ordinary bombing - dunno, get under the kitchen table?

MadeleineMummy · 11/10/2024 08:59

I would try and boil some eggs and soldiers and have one last breakfast with my children and tell them I love them.

Cheesecakecookie · 11/10/2024 09:04

I don’t believe for one minute this will happen but if it did, involving nuclear weapons I would probably hope to be killed instantly and pour myself a drink.

If due to location this is unlikely I would probably still have a drink but would hopefully have done some prep to try and wait out the initial fallout. But with a stash of pills should they be needed for life ending purposes.

We live in the coast opposite Helensburgh. So we are just outside the “certain death from radiation” zone.

it’s the worst place to be in a post apocalyptic world.

insulin, apparently, is the way to go. So, no breaking into supermarkets for tinned goods for me - raid a pharmacy, chew on mini eggs until you doze off into a sugary high?

Either insulin or mini eggs. Both together, a bad idea. The one will counteract the other.
I've got the insulin already so I'll stick with that and bottle of wine.
But I won't worry. I spent the 70s and 80s living in RAF quarters and didn't make plans then so I'm not starting now.

Lyoness1953 · 21/11/2024 23:04

Those mini eggs are addicting! LOL 😂

SimBa123UK · 23/11/2024 23:19

Many on here are going to emigrate to Egypt judging by the amount of denial going on.

Those who haven't at least considered their options may well be in for a rude awakening. Its never been more real.

Fishandchipsareyum · 02/12/2024 01:44

Start praying and read the bible with my family.

adriftinadenofvipers · 02/12/2024 01:50

Nothing. What could we do?

ToWhitToWhoo · 03/01/2025 21:45

Head straight for central London in the hope of being blown immediately to kingdom-come, rather than having to endure a nuclear winter or similar.

WeylandYutani · 06/01/2025 23:00

No way will I be camping out in the cupboard under the stairs for days.
I have enough pills to wipe me out in a nice sleepy haze. I have no desire to live in some post bomb apocalypse.

Ilovemyshed · 07/01/2025 11:19

Nothing. Stay home and see what happened.
I'd rather be in my own space if it was still there 🤷🏽‍♀️

GasPanic · 09/01/2025 18:33

Use the radiation to grow a second head.

Then use the combined brainpower of my two heads to rule the world.

Hobbesmanc · 09/01/2025 18:54

We're visiting family at the moment in New Zealand. It's stunning but it doesn't have the resources to rescue everyone. And it's a seriously long journey lol.

We live in Manchester so I guess it would be a target city. I've a stash of class As still hidden away from younger days. Combined with a plentiful gin supply we'd hopefully be zonked out when the bomb hits. Id just be worried about the cats though. They're my babies and I couldn't bring myself to hurt them.

Imagine the crazy rush to get on a plane. There won't be enough flights for everyone. Airline tickets will be like gold-dust and the prices will be skyhigh..

You could always try small boats.

And hope the people in safe countries would be welcoming..

Tiggermom · 09/01/2025 22:05

The prevailing winds are westerly so the fall out radiation would probably make its way to Russia after a bit.

What safe countries?

If we are at war then NATO is at war. There are no safe countries.

Do try harder.

Take the cyanide or whatever I had stored up for such an occasion. Then sit back and wait, my favourite music on.

You have cyanide stored just in case? Wow that is taking prepping seriously.

Aw bless, you obviously don't remember the Cold War.

If it happens I'll be dying. Not sure there's much planning needed for that.

The Cold War was more about jostling, posturing and slow burn competition so not comparable, no 'aw bless' needed.

WW3 is not going to be nuke after nuke which many seem to picture but Trump seems to get on with Putin which is something. Either way, global peace has never looked more fragile.

coribells · 23/01/2025 17:48

Go home to Australia

How are you going to get there? If nukes start flying commercial planes aren’t going to be.
