If WW3 happens and Russia starts bombing UK, what do you plan to do? Do you have a plan of what you would do? Would you stay home or flee the country.. where would you choose to flee to?

I would put on my little black dress and heels. Pour a cocktail, light a cigarette and go out in style 😎

In reality I would probably just grab a bottle of gin and start swigging it from the bottle. Whilst wearing my usual house outfit of leggings, t-shirt and my messy hair in a scrunchy.

I fear a misunderstanding resulting in a nuke attack

The longer this goes on,more chance of mistakes

Putin has a point initially but played it up. The Americans and our lot were over there during the elections a few years ago - would we accept Russians messing in England with our elections?

Never forget, the vast majority of politicians are wealthy, have access to other countries, bunkers lots of money and often the little man in the street in every country will lose out as they always do

Send Putin, Bidne, Sunka, the french guy and a few others with their croonies to a desert, give them guns and let them fight it out - trust me they wont accept the offer

Putin had no point whatsoever, he thinks Ukraine is a mistake of a country and shouldn't exist.
Nato expansion was a pretext for invasion.
Anyone who thinks Putin has any justification is a useful idiot but even if he wins in Ukraine, he will have a resurgent NATO right on his borders, plus new members in Sweden and Finland.

Europe needs to get its act together and get back to Cold War levels of defence spend and production asap or what the OP fears may happen, Putin only respects strength, he isn't really any different from most Soviet leaders in that respect.
Russia would never have invaded Ukraine if the 'West had had 300 tanks, an airforce and 50k men stationed there.

Just because you disagree with me does not make me a "useful idiot," far from it

You ignored the interference by the west in particular by the USA I posted about
You will be aware that the majority in the cremia are Russian supporters and Russian speaking as well as Donktess.

Trust me, anyone that claims to be aware of what really was happening and what is really happening now are fooling themselves to make them think they are clever
What Puti is doing is wrong as not only does he not care about the people of Ukraine inc Russian supporters/etc but he does not care about his armed forces and like most good leaders, he puts his pride and power first before everything else, even if it meant a nuke war. Putin is a weak president and all week leaders are seriously dangerous clowns

Ask the Russians that lived in the contested parts of Ukraine before the invasion about how many were treated. It was a bit like NI in the days our troops were there to keep the peace.

GPTec1 · 24/02/2024 14:40

Ukraine is a sovereign state, nothing absolutely nothing Russian apologists say about Crimea or Dombas changes that.

Putin doesn't want to be consumed in a Nuclear blast and more importantly, neither does the chain of command beneath him.

Like i said, Putin is like most soviet era leaders, they understand the strength of military might and little else.

How many mini eggs do you think you would need to eat to induce a coma?

Probably far too many to loot but it would give me something to do, and I’ll give it a go with whatever chocolate is about. Haribo would also do. Not those strawberry ones though.

My kids love those strawberry ones, they are so bloody hard , give me some normal haribo any day

Russia might be more empowrerd due to China's involvement. China possibly looking for world domination through Russia as their proxy.

DyslexicPoster · 25/02/2024 01:01

Nothing. Absolutely fuck all. If we can't evolve past this shit then wipe ourselfs out as fast as possible. Humans are a parasite on this earth. How can we have the most mind blowing astro physics yet also crave war? The best of us is vastly outnumbered by the worst of us. We can't escape or chains of destruction. Lookat Suria, Gaza and Ukraine and that is what we evolved to. Fucking pathetic species

adriftinadenofvipers · 25/02/2024 01:02

I'd drink myself stupid on gin and tonic and wait to die.

Aplaceinthecold · 25/02/2024 07:46

I hate strawberry Haribo.

Beaverbridge · 25/02/2024 08:01

Sit at home, start drinking all the booze. Been alcohol free for over a year due to gall bladder problems, so there's plenty booze in cupboard. Smoke fags, if death was inevitable try and source mind altering drugs, wonted feel a thing when it happens!!.

https://nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/
Drag the marker and play with the settings.
This site allows you to see the effects of various bombs.

Not very cheery though.

An icon with a schematic atom on it, superimposed on a city map, with rings indicating the effects of nuclear weapons. A red button labeled DETONATE is prominent.

NUKEMAP by Alex Wellerstein

NUKEMAP is a website for visualizing the effects of nuclear detonations.

We live in the countryside, and when I moved here, I thought well, I guess this would be relatively safe in the event of this sort of national catastrophe.

However, recent maps showing where likely bomb targets would be, suggested that there are places not that far away that could get bombed.

In fact, there seem to be a lot of targets, military etc, in and around the South East.

I guess we will all just have to live with it.

checkedshirts · 16/04/2024 10:44

Give a thumbs up and measure it against the blast #fallout 😉

A lot of these supposed target/fallout/blast radius maps you see are pretty much useless.

What might be hit and with what/how much would depend on the opposition’s aims .. it’s not simply a case of throwing the kitchen sink at targets..there’s a whole lexicon of terms and aims such as selective release, counter force, counter value that come into play…

None of the options are good news and it’s certainly not a case of the countryside automatically being safer than the major conurbations.

"I know not what weapons with which the 3rd world war will be fought, but the 4th will be fought with sticks and stones"

I agree with someone earlier that we are a contagion on this earth and it would be better off without us.

It's a shame that we have failed as a species.

Does anyone remember that book, where it was set in Australia, and it was the aftermath of a nuclear war.
At the beginning they are in contact with surviving popuations on islands, and more remote countries, and gradually over time, all those contacts cease.

Gradually all the other survivors fall victim to the nuclear winter which slowly flows south.

The point being that in Australia, they were sitting waiting to die, the only question was how long did they have.

That is how I feel everywhere would be after a nuclear war. You might as well die at the beginning.

I read something similar. It was horrible.

They were down to a family of 2 adults and 2 children. They met up with some guy. The adults died. The children were adults by this time. One got pregnant by the guy who then died.

Just her, her sister and a baby in the end.

On the Beach - Nevil Shute is the one I was thinking of.

We have a big cellar where the wine is kept

biscuitnut · 16/04/2024 16:18

I would weigh up where the most likely
place is to be attacked and sit right bang in the middle of it. I might even put a target on my head. It’s best to get it all over with. Who wants to survive a nuke attack only to starve to death, live in a dystopian nightmare, or grow another leg out the side of your head or something equally hideous?

Validus · 16/04/2024 18:50

I’d keep calm and carry on. No point in running off to the countryside. Would try to locate a gun though for protection.

Apparently we’re unlikely to be bombed directly, so I’d just keep on living life until it ended. I’m not overly concerned.
