If WW3 happens and Russia starts bombing UK, what do you plan to do? Do you have a plan of what you would do? Would you stay home or flee the country.. where would you choose to flee to?

This won't happen. Putin will be dead soon and I think the idea he has all this power is bizarre. If he was going to nuke anywhere to antagonise a world war it wouldn't be the UK and I'm confident he'd be assassinated before he pushed the button. There will 100% be spies/turncoats in Russia's inner circle.

This thread is seriously making me consider stocking up on those 1kg bags of Mini Eggs, tho.

But how do you resist eating them while awaiting the mushroom cloud? 🤔

Bringtheweatherwithyou · 23/02/2024 08:51

Our family has food supplies and emergency bags ready at all times with medications for those that need them a weeks supply, just gotta make sure now and then stuff is in date in them and tbh in the area we live I would say there's a lot prepared by the talk in the town the last few months for the just in case.

Where do you live?

The only people I’ve ever heard doing this have tornados regularly and bunkers in tbeir back yard with alarms rigged to local police stations indicating their whereabouts?

AngelinaFibres · 23/02/2024 08:53

I live in a small village a long way from London and 1.5 hours from Birmingham. I dare say my life would carry on absolutely as normal. Just like it did when there was news footage of all the refrigerated storage containers full of bodies in New York during covid. Our lives barely changed at all during the whole thing. If the Russians drop a nuclear bomb on Birmingham then I expect I'll die at some point, either quickly or slowly. I have a very lovely life. I shall carry on living it until I am faced with the absolute fact that I have to think otherwise.

wast542 · 23/02/2024 08:56

I watched Putins recent interview with tucker Carlson and don't think it's likely to happen at all

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 23/02/2024 08:57

Those that think they can make it What about infrastructure. Water. Medicines doctors etc

All the animals will be dead or poisoned. All the plants will
Die as sunlight will be blocked. Rain will
Be poisoned

It's Not a case of blow
Up london and the rest of the uk can live in peace and harmony.

Citizens will
Then turn on each other. Those that are not sick from
Radiation.

Lord
Of the
Flies etc.

I want to be dead in the first blast personally.

Anyway I spent my
Teens worried about this in the 80s so I don't think about it now. If it happens I can't change things.

There wouldn’t be any planes. No airline would put planes up with nukes flying around.

If you know that your country is about to be hit and you're a pilot, I'd think you'd take the plane up. Anyone else getting on is probably down to who you know or luck. Might as well take your chances when you have nothing to lose.

I’m of an age to have had “what do when the bomb drops” education in school.

you get under the table. Sorted.

I thought it was a door? I specifically remember reading to take a door off and hide under it. Think it was when the wind blows, you know that book that put the fear of death into every 80's child?

Anyway what I'd actually do if the nukes were coming is smoke a big fat spliff and take a handful of Xanax Grin

You'd need your own plane, like the various billionaires who've bought up land in Hawaii and New Zealand. If the shit hits the fan, they'll be airborne within an hour and on their way to their safe places of refuge. The rest of us are fucked!

Spendonsend · 23/02/2024 09:06

I couldnt flee, cant imagine anyone would take a low earning, nearly 50 year old with an autustic son. The time to flee would be now and hope you pick somewhere not involved.

So i'd just have to deal with whatever happened. Either die quickly, or slowly? You dont really get a choice over where the bombs are dropped or what type of bomb.

Good point. Better set up a regular order and operate a strict FIFO stock rotation system to ensure freshness.

what happens after the week?

Natsku · 23/02/2024 09:19

In Finland they tell us to keep supplies (food, water, medication) enough to last 72 hours (and I do, but only since the war). No good if a nuclear war but good to have for other reasons like extended power cuts, natural disasters, things like that. Would also help in a conventional air raid situation.

Livelovebehappy · 23/02/2024 09:23

I guess we would find out, after being a safe haven for a lot of war torn countries, who our real friends are. I’m betting not many would be welcoming us in, so I would probably stock up on toilet roll and tins of soup and see what happens…..

plantlover34 · 23/02/2024 09:25

The first question to answer is, am I in the blast radius of an impending attack - you can use common sense to figure out that London would be a key target, and otherwise major military or infrastructure locations could be targeted. In the event of a nuclear attack, there is no point in prepping if you are near these.

You can check the impact of a range of nuclear weapons on various targets here: nuclearsecrecy.com/nukemap/

The second question, if you are not likely to die instantly, would be are you going to be affected by the fallout - this will depend on weather patterns on the day. If you are in the path of fallout you would need to insulate your house fully and not leave for two weeks, or you would need to leave in the hour of the attack to leave the fallout zone.

Yes, I do have an anxious disposition 😂

Livelovebehappy · 23/02/2024 09:28

Personally I’m fed up of the media whipping this up. It’s like they’re poking the bear and actually trying to get something to kick off. The media should be regulated for this type of thing because it does no-one any favours. I’m thinking of going ‘low contact’ with the media stuff, just for my mental health.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 23/02/2024 09:33

KyleWalkersLibido · 23/02/2024 01:10

I’d loot the nearest shop for mini eggs and eat myself into a sugar coma, then die.

me too

Bringtheweatherwithyou · 23/02/2024 09:42

BronwenTheBrave · 23/02/2024 07:45

Great. And after the first week? The 3rd and 4th month? Pretty sure my tinned tuna chunks will be depleted.

And to emerge then into a world of destruction and death….

What do you expect to eat then? Get medical supplies? Electricity? What kind of existence do you think you will have?

Nah creme eggs for me too. Haven’t smoked in 15 years but I’d light up too.

WhatNoRaisins · 23/02/2024 09:44

I'd definitely throw in some treats if possible. Prepping is all well and good for the sort of disaster where you'd just need to sit tight for a week before but it would be hopeless in a nuclear war

notimagain · 23/02/2024 09:49

Agree with @Livelovebehappy on the media whipping this up..but if it has to be discussed @LipstickLil IMHO is right on the nose with:

You'd need your own plane, like the various billionaires who've bought up land in Hawaii and New Zealand. If the shit hits the fan, they'll be airborne within an hour

If any shooting at the Uk started (either conventional or nuclear) anywhere with a big runway would be a prime target, in the event of a conventional attack they would probably be a higher priority than many/all population centers.

You’d need to be out of Dodge before a conflict started because if hostilities begin (I don’t see it happening) I think you can put aside any idea of quickly hopping on a Ryanair or BA flight out of your nearest airport.

Medusaismyhero · 23/02/2024 09:51

I've googled to see which of my prescription meds would make for the easiest death for my kids, doggos and DH but now the interweb thinks I'm actively suicidal. Nope, just a planner! Wish I'd held onto the extra morphine from when my dad was dying though...

I've seen Threads. Not planning on sticking around for that.

If WW3 happens and Russia starts bombing UK, what do you plan to do?
Julianne65 · 23/02/2024 10:19

I would stay and do my best to help like my Dad did in WW2 (he didn’t end op seeing any action as it ended as soon as he was trained but he was keen to fight. And he met Churchill). I don’t think I would last very long though. Almost 50 and blind as a bat with a wonky wrist and no stamina.
