Crikey

Tamum · 18/03/2008 22:24

I'm glad it's not just me, Cali, I was amazed that he was still alive.

Carmenere · 18/03/2008 22:26

Bad day for culture.

barnstaple · 18/03/2008 22:28

Oh no, not another one. Very too

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2008 22:32

He was such an amazing person. One of my favourite writers.
He opened up a new building at work several years ago via satellite link along with Patrick Moore who was physically present. It was such a privilege to be there for the banter between them. And so amazing that he was using the very technology he predicted so long ago.

PrincessPeaHead · 18/03/2008 22:32

Isn't he the one who has been living in sri lanka for years shagging young (very young) boys?
Horrible man
Good riddance

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2008 22:37

lol Rosemary - I robot was Asimov and he did die quite a bit ago.

Have got a postcard from Asimov tucked away somewhere - I wrote and asked for for his autograph and he sent me a lovely reply.

PrincessPeaHead · 18/03/2008 22:40

he was directly quoted about it
he claimed it was defamatory but never sued
there were protests in the streets which turned into semi-riots when the govt of sri lanka honoured him (good for tourism having him there)
what do you THINK he was doing living there, exactly?
revolting man

RosemaryBoxer · 18/03/2008 22:57

but he did do 2001 then

PrincessPeaHead · 18/03/2008 23:01

even the short page on the bbc news website about his death says "Although cleared by an investigation, Sir Arthur's unconventional lifestyle continued to cause some raised eyebrows."

he did write well
but I won't be sad he is dead

RosemaryBoxer · 18/03/2008 23:01

so he wrote 2001

RosemaryBoxer · 18/03/2008 23:02

come on pph arent you a solcitor or something

PrincessPeaHead · 18/03/2008 23:04

your point?
you can't defame the dead if that is what you mean

I can say what I like about him now!

quint · 18/03/2008 23:05

This is the first I've heard of any accusations - PPH, how do youknow they were true and not just mud slinging?

RosemaryBoxer · 18/03/2008 23:06
