Oh no the last thing we need is to ask bloody business! They know nothing about the vulnerable in society or how the state functions. Governments internationally deal with crises all the time. We could have had a very different outcome if we'd had a functioning state (pre-cuts) and a non-shit PM.

Roussette · 06/12/2023 13:07

I do find it very telling that he got in straight off with an extremely insincere apology. Why would you do that?
We all know his apologies mean jack shit.
It just showed him up.

tobee · 06/12/2023 13:17

Too busy shagging the latest women in his life. Too busy basking in his election victory. Too busy dreaming of fluffing up the supposed benefits of Brexit that he single handedly created. Too busy imagining he's world king and burnishing his legacy. Too busy enjoying the freebies of exotic holidays and decorating his temporary home paid for by some other sucker.

THE LOOK ON HER FACE!!! OH MY GOD!

During a discussion about a Cobra meeting that Boris Johnson skipped... Johnson just said he didn't really take the word "pandemic" seriously at the time.

This evidence is really upsetting.

It was obvious it could be really bad, we all know a bad flu strain has the potential to kill very large numbers. This is so fucking basic.

There must be something very wrong with his thought process that he just couldn't hear what was being said?! We were all able to watch what was happening in Italy on the news.

tobee · 06/12/2023 13:40

Hard to believe he prepped for so long with some of the best and most expensive lawyers out there (THAT WERE PAYING FOR) and he's doing so badly.

It doesn't mean Johnson listened to the lawyers. He will have believed they were being paid by us to tell him how wonderful he is.

MidnightOnceMore · 06/12/2023 13:51

What I don't understand is how I knew more about it than him Confused

He shook hands in that hospital because he wanted to be 'encouraging' Confused

IClaudine · 06/12/2023 13:51

He still doesn't think he did anything wrong. It was everyone else.

The poor families. It must be torture to listen to this litany of lies and deflection.

DuncinToffee · 06/12/2023 14:00

Johnson is shown the whatsapp from Cummings to Cain about him comparing covid to swine flu and it not being a big deal

Johnson says he can't remember it but that he would not place too much reliance on Cummings version

DuncinToffee · 06/12/2023 14:04

On shaking hands with patients and bragging about it

"In retrospect I should perhaps have been more precautionary... but I wanted to be encouraging to people."

Why? Why encouraging?

I have kept up pretty well with the covid inquiry but I can't bear to listen to that Boris Johnson git tell us more lies.

So many dead. So much corruption. .

I don't know how he's got the nerve to show his face.

DuncinToffee · 06/12/2023 14:23

I got a bit lost with all that waffling but is he now saying 'we knew we had to do something but we didn't' re the mass gatherings?

beguilingeyes · 06/12/2023 14:36

He's smirking in that video clip...smirking! I sit opposite BBC news all day so I've got the whole dismal spectacle in front of me. So much that he can't remember.
I don't understand why some boffin can't locate his Whats Apps. How can he get away with not producing them?

DuncinToffee · 06/12/2023 14:36

Johnson being shown a scrawled note from 19 March in which he said "we're destroying everything for people who will die soon anyway. Bed blockers."

He says it "wasn't designed to be publicly broadcast" and it reflected "the cruelty of the choice we faced".

I wonder what Sunak's excuse will be, especially with him being such a big technology fan

Zonder · 06/12/2023 14:59

Which means he didn't expect to get caught out, basically.

He cant use a petrol pump, so I think it perfectly believable he cant use a phone either.

He is doing just as I anticipated. Being vague and non committed is in many ways better for him. KC will want to pin him down on facts. Johnson's technique eludes that, he is deliberately evasive and while this looks and sounds incompetent, it will make accountability and direct criticism in the final report very difficult. A class performance because if you expected him to actually assist the inquiry that was never going to happen.

How did that work out for him in the Commons standards inquiry?

Although of course there are those amoung us who think that breaking the law and lying about it to parliament are not reason enough to not be a suitable person to be PM.

Zonder · 06/12/2023 16:54

Misread this at first on the BBC site. Thought something else entirely had happened!

The we didn’t know how bad it could be in Feb defence is ever so slightly undermined by the WHO issuing a dire warning about the world having a month to act to prevent a pandemic in January.
