Dominic Cummings Covid evidence

Newtonianmechanics · 31/10/2023 09:17

Is anyone going to watch this man give evidence today?

Apparently there is a vigil in Barnard Castle ahead of this.

The shopping trolleys emoji seems to mean they think Carrie was controlling Boris from the last few days. Wonder if this will feature.

I know that Cummings has said that the trolley comment referred to Boris always changing direction. But I'm sure that's not true, that's not what you think of when you think of a supermarket trolley. It clearly means someone that never goes in the right direction/never goes where you want it to. Which is different.

Theredfoxfliesatmidnight · 31/10/2023 16:57

A supermarket trolley goes in the opposite direction to what you, the controller, wants. This is what is meant by the term trolley

When you're a kid, you always think that the people in charge know what they're doing, and are super smart.
When you realise how inept and incapable they all are (especially this lot) it's profoundly depressing and infuriating.

You really do but they are absolutely clueless.

The Barnie bit now.

It was Mary's birthday treat.

He can't tell the truth.

Am really very shocked at the language Cummins used about Helen MacNamara - absolutely disgusting 😡

Can you imagine how much the KC and everyone is being paid an hour to let us know this stuff

Oooh, look at him covering his mouth!

Wow.
He is mumbling now.

Does he accept it? He is squirming.

OP posts:
SkiingIsHeaven · 31/10/2023 17:04

He is such a snake.

He won't accept any blame or criticism of himself and his own actions.

Can't stand him.

Totally untrustworthy.

Crikeyalmighty · 31/10/2023 17:09

I hate them all but he isa hideous weirdo- don't forget he said he wanted to see more freaks and weirdos in parliament- well the Tory's certainly obliged on that front and with regards to Carrie-she May be a pain in the arse but it was BJ running the show- if you can't take the heat then don't get in the kitchen.

shams05 · 31/10/2023 18:05

I wonder what mighty event might happen over night to hide this shit show from the front pages

Have you looked at the Mail online? There’s at least one scathing article with 1.2k comments.

Newtonianmechanics · 31/10/2023 18:40

Yes looked at first 7 articles. Must have missed it.

He is denied being misogynistic.

Ironic, given he only got anywhere near government because of who his wife was (spectator editor). She introduced him to Gove and Boris. He’d have stayed a middling policy wonk in a think tank somewhere if he hadn’t had access to her connections.

I don't think we should let this crew taint all politicians. Germany was not like this, nor NZ, Scotland, Wales. I didn't and don't agree with Sweden's approach but they weren't like this.

This was specifically this Tory government.

We'd have done better with Heath, Thatcher, Major, Blair, May or Starmer. None of them were/are incapable. Only Johnson, Truss and Sunak have been this rubbish.

PerkingFaintly · 31/10/2023 18:54

Yes, even within the Tory party – and the recent Tory party – May was far more capable. I disagreed with her on many things, but she was at least competent to run the ship.

In fact she would have had more problems from her own party and the Daily Mail. The headbangers and right-wing press gave Johnson faaaaar more leeway than they would have given May.

Believe me it’s there. Why would I make something like this up. The comments are very scathing of BJ and DC.

DuncinToffee · 31/10/2023 19:06

Even Cummings admitted today that Johnson was never fit for office, but he/ vote Leave, wanted Brexit and not a second referendum

DuncinToffee · 31/10/2023 19:14

After today's Covid inquiry hearings, Susie Flintham, spokesperson for Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice UK said: “The nastiness, arrogance and misogyny at the heart of government during the pandemic is core to the awful decision making that led to thousands of unnecessary deaths and tore families like mine apart. When you see that these figures had such a shocking disregard for each other, you can only imagine the disregard they had for families like mine."

I totally agree with her. We knew it was chaotic but not this chaotic. And the misogynistic language was off the scale.

Newtonianmechanics · 31/10/2023 19:23

@derxa oh I don't think you are making it up. I would like to read it. Off to google.

Scotland did no better.

Mischance · 31/10/2023 19:29

I am listening to it via BBC iplayer News channel.

The real gem came from the Director of Communications - rather stuffy and very circumspect - who said of Boris Johnson: "It was the wrong crisis for the Prime Minister's skill set." In other words, BJ was not capable of dealing with it - and so people died ......

I can't help asking myself what his "skill set" is suitable for dealing with - or indeed even whether he has one.

. . . and terrifying.

Their incompetence kills people and ruins millions of lives.

They must go.
