The chat appears to have gone quiet today after the last thread filled up, so I'm making a new one for anyone who wants to come together whilst we all hold our breath hoping for a good outcome.

it is strange they haven’t searched either of the caravan parks properly by the sound of it. Both are so close

Shewasnthere · 12/02/2023 10:04

@Janiie yes I agree! That's what I think too.

LoveMAFS · 12/02/2023 10:05

What makes you think they haven't been properly searched @melonraspberry ?

If I saw a phone, lead and a harness, and a agitated dog I would call and look for the owner. If you are caught short its simple, answer saying its ok. But to tie the dog up with string, and leave the lead plus harness and phone that's odd to me.

If the dog was by its self with no harness, lead, or phone. I would think it had been dumped. But I would look for the owner if I was there.

MajesticWhine · 12/02/2023 10:07

Have they had cadaver dogs all over the local area?

Capitane · 12/02/2023 10:09

Yes as far as I know

MaMisled · 12/02/2023 10:10

Nichola did that walk very often, she probably had a million things to do and wanted to get home. I dont believe she'd have sat down, especially not where Willow might get close to that steep bank. I'd have scurried past that bit, encouraging the dog away from the bank there. Willow would also know that wasn't the best place for a dip. Absolutely she would have easier, more preferred places to go in.

I've only seen photos of them with the police on the river. I read they had dogs in the fields though. I can't remember where I saw it.

Yes
The photos you see of willow in the water are taken from the right hand side of the top field where its like a little almost beachy area, of you know what I mean. Obviously it's just mud, but it isn't a drop to the water.

Here's where she goes in

If this had happened in a park with no water this would be being treated very differently. We've all seen that bit of the river. My bath has more of a current when I get in and out of it.

Agreed

mackerelskymackerelsky · 12/02/2023 10:15

Apologies if this has already been covered, I'm struggling to keep up with the threads.

If she's been taken, what is the timeframe it would have had to happen? From what I can remember it's not a very long time between when she was last seen and when the dog was found?

dawngreen · 12/02/2023 10:16

They searched the empty caravans. But remember its a business, and she has free range poultry around the park. And her small holding with livestock. But I think the lake there needs to be checked. It would show people that she has been helpful. Sadly some people have picked up on a few bad reviews of her place. All businesses get some bad reviews.

They said they searched empty caravans. But presumably that means some are not empty. And no images of a fingertip land search.

The lake is on Rowanwater at the back of the fields.
The caravan owner who found willow owns Wyresdale and she's the one with the smallholding

People live full time on Rowanwater

And they cannot trample through some ones place without proper proof.

@Coffeeeplease You must be police or why else would you be supporting their handling of this?

So, I don't believe Willow got in to any kind of trouble, leading Nichola to the edge. I know it's a vast area of ground to search but they really do need to start, don't they?

melonraspberry · 12/02/2023 10:28

I’ve just ordered personal alarms for me and dd. This case has affected so many of us. It doesn’t help that we are not convinced by police response and personally I feel they are making assumptions based on very little.

JinglingSpringbells · 12/02/2023 10:28

I like her partners' appeal for info from people within the village.

It may turn out that this was all an accident.

But there is a history of finding a criminal when someone close to them comes forward - someone's mother, sibling, partner, neighbour, employer etc. People often suspect and it's often only a matter of time before somebody comes forward with info.

ChangedmynameagainforChristmas · 12/02/2023 10:31

I saw the interview with her husband and have read news reports. I think the police are doing a good job and will have some news soon. I think they know more then they are letting on which is common practice when they are on to something.

Yes, this is a very sensible post. Often it’s not some tv-like super sophisticated criminal but something unplanned and unexpected. It’s very rare that there are no clues and someone doesn’t suspect something.
