These threads are to discuss the disappearance of Nicola Bulley from St Michael's on Wyre.

No speculation without evidence please.

Here are some frequently asked questions, with answers:

1.Where do Nicola and her husband work?

They both work from home which is why he was at home on the day she went missing.

2.Where was the dog harness found / the phone?

Dog harness was found near the river edge not the bench, phone was on on/near the bench.

  1. Has the river been searched?

Yes by the police and volunteers from the Specialist Search team

  1. Had the dog been in the water, and maybe Ms Bulley went in after her?

Willow appeared distressed but ‘bone dry’, according to the woman who found her. There was no sign of her having gone in the river.

  1. Why would she leave her phone on the bench?

Nicola’s phone was found on the bench, still connected to a conference call. So whatever happened, there was no time to end the call or to alert others on the call.

  1. Why was she on mute with no video for her business meeting?

This was not unusual, She used to go on work meeting calls with video off and microphone

  1. Where was her partner while she was out walking their dog?

He was at home at the time.

  1. What about this abandoned house?

Its not abandoned. Its owned by a lovely family who have lived in the village for generations and would do anything they can to help in the search for Nikki.
It has been searched, inside and outside, from top to bottom by the police. This has been clarified with the family themselves and also with the police.
They have never refused entry to the police or told them they need a warrant to search.

  1. Did Nicola have a dog ball with her?

No she didn’t she used to but stopped taking a dog ball on walks.

  1. Was she swept out to sea?

The police Seargent has said it’s now a possibility Nicola’s body could have drifted out to sea.

  1. We’re CCTV cameras working in the area:

The CCTV camera which would have captured everything unfortunately wasn’t working. But the police are actively working to identify 700 motorists travelling in the Garstang Road area on the 27TH of January.

  1. Are there any other paths she could have gone down?

Apart from the river, there are only three exits, two of which are covered by CCTV. On her way in, she was seen by several people. No one saw her leave.

No, he started from the weir on the first day. Next day he did from the bench to the weir and then from the bench upstream.

Thanks. I missed that - I thought he was all upstream.

And with apologies for banging on - my understanding is that if she entered the water beyond the weir (or had after all been carried by current over the weir) then the body would not stay there. Unless of course caught and held there by debris. Because it's tidal at that point and she'd move out to sea, possibly rapidly.
So presumably he was checking that the body had not been caught up in that area (where it's still a bendy bit of river).

What would cause difficulty for PF's reputation is if she is found upstream of the dam, or immediately below it, as those are the places where he has said she isn't

Bluebellwood129 · 10/02/2023 08:13

@pigsinoodies He was quite clear that he was working as part of their team.

The red tops are all running this story - but in these versions it’s a 55 year old woman witness (of the van) who was walking to a cake shop and saw a tatty red van parked on Hall Lane outside a barn - she said she saw this on the day of the disappearance and reported it online but was not communicated with and then reported it again last week.

When asked about this police have said they are pursuing all lines of enquiry.

IMHO if this was the abduction vehicle they are unlikely to then park it right in the village centre with their victim inside.

“Police searching for missing Lancashire mum Nicola Bulley could be trying to trace a "tatty red van" which was seen parked close to where she disappeared two weeks ago.”

Interesting. The commenter had a man’s name, perhaps they saw the same van. I’ve just found the reference to it in the Times (not the article on which the original comment was made).

@DerangedViper PF seems pretty confident in his abilities - he's never claimed a 100% success rate in previous cases. A quick check on companies house indicates he's running a profitable company - almost £1 million in shareholders funds, based on the most recent return. That speaks for itself really.

pigsinoodies · 10/02/2023 08:18

It's tidal beyond the weir but with only a small tidal range as I understand it. The tide levels increase towards the sea.

He searched a considerable distance below the weir on the first day.

He's made so many contradictory statements though that it's impossible to work out what he's claiming on any given day.

dawngreen - There have been so many people out looking for NB that if she was in any of the fields surrounding that area I am sure she would have been found.

LilLilLi · 10/02/2023 08:22

I’ve just read that police have been told about a “tatty” red van being seen in the area at the time of Nicolas disappearance- in fact it says they were told twice.

Has this been reported previously and I missed it? Beggars belief that it’s only being mentioned two weeks on if not!

I don’t think speaking to the media equates to liking the limelight.
It’s a pretty stressful thing to do esp when it’s about your missing friend.
Unnecessary comment

galimbung · 10/02/2023 08:37

Pardon me if it is too weird, but who was actually found Nicola phone on the bench and harness and lead on the ground (despite some posters said the phone was initially found on the ground by a man, i dont know which one was true)? I mean, do police and any of her friends and family know this person who found her stuffs at 09.33? Have the police checked this person?
And I am not clear on who gives the statement/sight that the phone back to the bench on 09.20. I mean, who did give the info? Only the phone, or Nicola as well?

Oaktree55 · 10/02/2023 08:39

If anyone has the Next Door App they’ll know that people are constantly reporting suspicious vehicles/activities etc which in reality aren’t at all suspicious so I don’t put much weight onto the red van.

MissingMoominMamma · 10/02/2023 08:40

Bluekerfuffle · 09/02/2023 20:59

Do you have a source for this, I’ve only seen repeated reports of a woman finding it (either on the bench or ground).

I do- hang on, I’ll try to find it again.

TheFeralFour · 10/02/2023 08:41

Not sure a red van is a very suitable vehicle for kidnapping, it stands out a bit much and can easily be remembered, right?

Yeah I guess so. I assume a red van is distinctive enough that the owner will come forward quickly and be discounted.

This whole thing is just so strange! Where could she be?!

Plitvice · 10/02/2023 09:01

@RubyPip @lifeturnsonadime Thanks for sharing. It isn't really talked about enough which is why other people imagine that it is unthinkable that a mother would walk out on young children. I think it is important to realize that there is a range of outcomes in the end (much as if there had been no abandonment).

Pointblank2 · 10/02/2023 09:18

I was thinking that, if she walked away herself for whatever reason intending to take a short break from her life, then she might now find it difficult to come back given the amount of publicity and effort the police are going to. She might be scared to be accused of wasting police time etc

www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/news/people/nicola-bulley-st-michaels-residents-feel-the-strain-two-weeks-on-from-the-disappearance-of-the-mum-of-two-4020811

The residents sound very concerned about the whole thing.
I don't blame them.

MaggieFS · 10/02/2023 09:26

@DerangedViper Not necessarily. I'm conscious we're talking about someone's mum, friend a loved one, but I don't know how to say this without it being a bit graphic. If Nicola did sadly enter the water and drown, initially it is most likely she would have been weighted down by wet clothing and lungs full of water. If there was an element of buoyancy that might be sufficient to move within the [small] tidal range but that would mean back and forth with each change of tide, overall remaining within a fixed area, and that fixed area would move slowly towards the sea.

Were the river in flood it would be different with a higher volume of faster flowing water, but apparently that's not the case.

Clearly this is not a given and indeed the search is now out to sea, but it's unlikely someone would travel downstream until becoming buoyant again.

itsnote · 10/02/2023 09:28

"I mean, do police and any of her friends and family know this person who found her stuffs at 09.33? Have the police checked this person?"

Yes, they know her. She's been named on these threads (despite asking not to be named). Of course the police have "checked this person".

dawngreen · 10/02/2023 09:29

He said it takes about 5 days its now 14 days. Hope they find her soon then her family can grieve in private.

FuckFuckGo · 10/02/2023 07:56

Last week an article was posted in the Times with updates on Nicola’s last known movements. A man commented that he lived in the area and that morning had seen a van parked up nearby (I read the comment myself shortly after it was posted). He said he told the police but didn’t feel they were very interested. The Times removed the commenting function a few hours later. I believe this is where it has come from. Not sure if the red tops have just picked this up from the Times comment or if he has actually gone to the press himself to talk about it. My guess is the former.

I read it last night in the daily mail, so not sure how true their sources are

itsnote · 10/02/2023 09:34

"If she had entered a field to get her dog back, and got kicked by a cow."

At first I thought you'd just read too much Twitter but now it's clear you're doing this deliberately @dawngreen

itsnote · 10/02/2023 09:50

@Kernackered please report that.

Candletow · 10/02/2023 09:50

Whilst PF has decent resources and is experienced in what he does, he isn't an expert in missing persons investigations and as the police confirmed he wasn't privy to all detail about the case. I believe they said he had been told the same as the public. I would take what he says with a pinch of salt, his flip flopping and theorising to the media is harmful imo.

I hope she is found soon, the social media ignorance and speculation isn't helping, I feel sorry for the witnesses who are being doxxed and accused of all sorts even.
