Came across the news of Jacob Lennon this morning. I actually burst into tears. I don’t know if that’s normal but I just feel so deeply about stories like this. I wish I didn’t see them, or moreover wish they didn’t exist. I have a little one of a similar age - I just cannot comprehend how anyone could have so much hatred towards a child so small and can’t understand how this happens in a civilised society. We are failing these children.

I hope he is at peace and his abusers suffer.

RIP little Jacob.

I read this yesterday as well, I can't stop thinking about Jacob. How people can do this is beyond me. It happens far too often normally when a new partner comes on the scene.

RIP Jacob. You deserved so much more.

Poor little fellow. How can parents behave like this? It is truly heartbreaking.

SoShallINever · 12/02/2023 16:34

There is no sentence high enough.
Sick bastards, I really hope they rot in Hell.

My thoughts go out to the Police, medical and legal teams who will have to live with the effects of dealing with this case.

RIP dear Jacob.

Poor little sweetheart. If you ever have to think of a story to protect your boyfriend for what he's done to your kid, or if you're ever afraid of what your kids might say about him at school, you need to leave him or send the kids to live with their other parent or their grandparents. I don't understand these mums prioritising a new partner over their previous babies. I don't understand any person living who can see a baby or child be hurt and not want to save them.

So many people would have been so proud to be Jacob's parents and would have treated him
with love and kindness. Instead he got this sorry arrangement. Bless his beautiful little soul

Bluesycamore · 12/02/2023 17:12

There are no words. Absolutely heartbreaking. Beautiful baby boy

SuffolkUnicorn · 12/02/2023 17:25

Place in hell would be too good for them

This trial has continued today with medical experts giving evidence. Natural causes has been ruled out. Unbelievably the partner is trying to say Jacob inflicted his own injuries.

I hope there is a strong case against them both.

BubziOwl · 16/02/2023 15:39

This is the first I've come across this story, I always know full well before I click on these things that I'm going to regret it because it's just beyond comprehension. So upsetting.

God, it just makes you sick to your stomach. These two deserve every misery you can fathom.

Poor tiny baby💔

Whu · 16/02/2023 15:55

This is one of the most upsetting and sickening reads. That poor little baby, he never had a chance and his short life must have been unimaginably horrific. Im so so sorry he couldn’t be saved we can only hope he is resting easy now.

mickandrorty · 16/02/2023 16:16

Poor little boy how awful.
Is this happening more and more or is it just more reported on now and has always happened? There just seems to be a constant stream of children dying in horrific circumstances it is so sad.

I wonder if the conviction rate is higher and therefore reaching court because of advances in medical evidence. Also mobile phones have played a part as there's often text messages detailing the abuse. Some cases CCTV, photos and google searching.

pursudebyablackdog · 16/02/2023 22:07

I just don't understand how a parent can put a partner above their child. They both need to be sterilised. Poor, poor wee boy, he must have been in so much pain, so confused and frightened. How could his mother standby, he must have been screaming in pain at times...fuckers the pair of them.

Unfortunately us prison staff will have to ensure these 2 are cared for. I work in a men's prison. Not sure how a women's will treat her

ToAllTheStars · 17/02/2023 07:49

This is so sad. Poor Jacob. The monsters who did this should rot!

Op, I remember when the footage of Arthur Labinjo Hughes struggling to lift his duvet was released. My son was the same age and it upset me terribly. I'd just taken my dc to school and I got home and cried. The emotion just overtook and I was in such a state. My mum called me to ask about something and I remember I couldn't get no words out to talk. I had to end the call and text her instead.

I think when you have a child of similar age you will compare them and it makes it even more horrific to believe anyone could do such a thing to an innocent child.

If you look at the dates many seem to be surfacing from around covid. I wonder if lock down, a lack of childcare and isolation from support networks contributed.

Thanks for your understanding. Good to know I’m not alone. This case stayed with me for days.

This is the first time I have heard about this case.

I wonder how they know it was Jake that inflicted the injuries?

I don't doubt for one second it was him btw, just wondering how they can charge the mother with allowing it instead of charging them both with the murder.

WeakAsIAm · 19/02/2023 13:25

I work in paediatrics and deal with similar situations it seems every week now.
You would be surprised how brazen and without shame these parents are when they have clearly harmed their child.
None of them show any sort of remorse or even any genuine kindness to their child.
There is no sentence long or hard enough for them, pure evil bastards that is all they are.

Ooshie · 19/02/2023 13:31

I hadn’t heard about this case but that is so deeply disturbing. Poor poor little boy to go through all of that. Utterly tragic 😢

LakeTiticaca · 19/02/2023 14:03

I haven't heard about this before either.
I haven't read it fully, I can't bear to.
For this kind of crime I would pull the lever and watch them both drop

LynneBenfield · 19/02/2023 14:27

I’m not sure that graphic reporting of that nature is in the public interest (in the genuine sense of the phrase).

That must be totally horrendous, do social services actually have any meaningful intervention? My SIL works in paediatrics too and I hear the odd thing but not like you describe. With her they’re often accidents that are really a lack of supervision and dangerous situations - like left alone in the bath.
Absolutely awful to think it’s that wide spread - you are one person in one hospital of many across the country. 😔 there’s no hope for those children if they are raised and fortune enough to survive those circumstances.

Is this an addiction/mental health problem? Problem with a lack of input from social services. I just can’t fathom why you’d have and keep your children.

No, I just went back to google and see if they have been sentenced and came across more upsetting details. 😞😞

You can only charge one person with murder unless there’s evidence for a joint enterprise. They must be relying on text messages etc.
