Just been reading about this. How awful for her partner and children. Really hope she is found soon

If the dog was in trouble, he'd be wet and bedraggled, he wasn't.

If you were leaving, you wouldn't abandon your obviously well cared for dog (regularly walked, suggests this) in an open area to fend for himself. He would have been left at home.

You don't leave in Wellies or crocs or whilst on a teams meeting.

If the water was only 2-3ft deep and she had slipped in the river, surely a possibility to get out nearby?

Why did family ask for 'privacy'?

Why did police not get a tracker dog in, which might help indicate direction the missing woman went in?

So dreadfully sad. Praying she is found safe and sound.

How do you know all this information?

Bluekerfuffle · 01/02/2023 00:38

I feel sorry for partners in these scenarios because they are always under suspicion and every time have people openly accusing them with no basis.

Where was her car found? She definitely didn’t walk her children the 3 miles to school. I haven’t seen the car mentioned anywhere.

In the car park near the school.

www.unodc.org/documents/data-and-analysis/GSH2018/GSH18_Gender-related_killing_of_women_and_girls.pdf

64% of women in 2021 were murdered by a male relative/partner. That’s worldwide. That’s a long document discussing just the 2021 stats.

And often enough people are accused falsely. It’s despicable to accuse innocent people and as you don’t know the facts yet, best to give your own head a wobble.

82% were killed by an intimate partner, sorry.

What a worrying situation for all concerned.

As a dog walker I wanted to add that some breeds can have a really good dip and be dry very quickly. Totally breed and coat dependent of course.

Bluekerfuffle · 01/02/2023 00:49

Simulacra · 01/02/2023 00:43

82% were killed by an intimate partner, sorry.

It says that of people killed by an intimate partner 82% were female, not that 82% of females killed are by intimate partners.

No it isn’t, the statistics re missing women and how many of them are harmed by their partners don’t lie.

The statistics are that around 50 women a year are killed by a current or former partner. Around 50,000 adult women are reported missing a year. Of course, the women killed are mostly not reported missing. But even if they all were, that is 1 in 1,000 missing women. Only 1 in 50 adults that go missing are escaping violence. However, 8 out of every 10 missing adults has diagnosed or undiagnosed mental health issues. That is far more likely than her partner being involved in some way.

Well the latter posts are going to ensure that the thread will be gone by the morning.

nobody has been arrested as yet so be careful you don’t find yourself with a defamation claim.

LadyJ2023 · 01/02/2023 01:01

I've seen it everywhere in papers online forums etc

prh47bridge · 01/02/2023 01:01

Looking at your more recent posts, you clearly don't understand the statistics. In the UK, 62% of women who are murdered will have been killed by a current or former partner - note the "or former" part of that before you go insinuating that the missing woman's current partner must be to blame. However, only a small proportion of those who go missing each year are murdered and we have no evidence that this woman has been murdered. We don't even know if she is dead. Right now, the chances of her partner being involved in her disappearance are vanishingly small.

Whitefly · 01/02/2023 01:01

Hopefully there will be good news soon.

Jewel1968 · 01/02/2023 01:06

I often do teams meetings while walking. As long as I don't need to look at anything on a screen it's fine. I listen and will contribute. Modern day headphones cancel out noise. She was on a work call and probably needed and wanted to listen. It tells you something about her state of mind - work focused. Something significant pulled her away from her call which could be her dog or something else. Hope she is found soon.

CyberSpaceTraveller · 01/02/2023 01:11

This gets odder and odder. It's been reported the abandoned house being searched is ACROSS the river so how would she have got there if she did?

From the map in the DM, the dog was found in a field next to an area that looked like a road. Surely if the poor lady had gone into the water, the dog would have stayed there near where she went in, barking to raise the alarm?

Awful but realistically it unlikely she'll be found alive and well. Her poor husband and little girls.

Really hoping she'd maybe decided to go 'missing' as horrible as that would still have been for her family as the police seemed clear that no 3rd party involved, or that it was presumed she'd got into difficulty in the river (normally they say that don't they) which was unusual from the outset. Being in the middle of a work meeting and leaving her dog obviously didn't make sense though if she'd gone off on her own volition.

mackthepony · 01/02/2023 01:19

I wondered about sniffer dogs too.

CyberSpaceTraveller · 01/02/2023 01:31

I didn't see it reported if she was wearing headphones or earbuds but you'd imagine so if she was listening to a work call while walking. If she had her phone on speaker or even next to his ear, it'd still pick up background noises on Teams.

It wasn't reported if these were found near the bench she was on. First thing she'd do is take them out of her ears and throw them down in a panic if she noticed her dog was in trouble in the river?

I thought as soon as I saw the picture of the bench with the gate behind it that someone may have come up behind her while she was sitting with headphones in and was surprised the police said they didn't think she'd been attacked.

Does anyone local know what is beyond that gate? Looks like a tree heavy area.

AnotherSpare · 01/02/2023 01:32

For those questioning the depth of the river - it's not necessary the depth that's the danger but the temperature. In winter the water is bitterly cold. If you go into it, even only up to your ankles, the sudden shock of the cold can cause you to pass out. When you pass out and fall down you will then drown even in the shallowest water.
This is why you should never do things like open water swimming and ice plunging alone.
I read this river was only a couple of feet deep, easily enough to drown in and enough flow to carry a motionless weight along.
Desperately sad for this woman and her family though.

mackthepony · 01/02/2023 02:05

Apparently she was on mute on the call, with her camera off. Nothing was recorded from her in the Teams call

Just all so odd
