Just been reading about this. How awful for her partner and children. Really hope she is found soon

Why have they been so quick to rule out foul play

Because the Police will know far far more than is being released to the public.

Eatentoomanyroses · 31/01/2023 22:43

@SeenYourArse I hadn’t realised that about the tide. It’s really very strange. I hope there hasn’t been any foul play. I know you can get weirdos anywhere but isn’t it quite a posh area there? Not exactly awash with criminal types

Not posh but very rural. It's a tiny village where everyone knows everyone.

BCxx · 31/01/2023 23:14

So sad and such a strange story. There is some hope if the river wasn’t high so that theory is ruled out. Really hope she turns up soon for her little girls’ sake

I thought the manager telling the press she was in a Teams meeting was a shitty thing to do. Tell the police by all means but not the press.

I don't understand, why was it a shitty thing to do?

Stomacharmeleon · 31/01/2023 23:19

@lucya66 that's a shitty thing to insinuate..

arghtriffid · 31/01/2023 23:20

How deep & rapid was the river?

The police haven't mentioned this at all or anyone else. It's inappropriate to speculate too but I I feel uneasy about this and my thoughts are with her family.

Are you insinuating the partner is involved in her dissappearance ?

XanaduKira · 31/01/2023 23:36

I hope she turns up too. It's just terrible.

Eatentoomanyroses · 31/01/2023 23:36

@BluIsTheColor I thought it suggested she was meant to be working from home.
I think it’s horrible to speculate too much. Her poor family may come across this thread at some point. I just really hope for some good news for them somehow and if not that then at least some closure soon.

So not only are you insinuating that her partner is involved in some way, but you drag her work call and colleagues into it?!
I wonder if you have given any thought to those that may have been on the teams call might be feeling right now. I suspect not.

northernlites · 31/01/2023 23:45

The search and rescue have been looking since Friday morning, I saw them set out as I live very local.
Although the river is prone to being flooded and swollen after heavy rain, this is not currently the case - we have had not much rain in the last while, the river was quite low on Friday, the tide was at its lowest too, so being swept away is unlikely
it is 13 miles out to sea from there approx and the geography of the river means it twists and turns frequently before it becomes an estuary, so
I think they would have found her if she had slipped after this many days searching, and her dog would still have been damp or muddy if it had gone in the river.

With these things factored in I can see why police are being open minded.

It's really tragic and I hope she is found safe and well soon

rubberduckiee · 31/01/2023 23:47

@Eatentoomanyroses think it was just info, not a negative insinuation.

Bosses won't be too pleased if you're walking/multitasking during work calls, and some in faster-paced wfh environments won't be able to do that, but it's become fairly common now. It's like dilly dallying a bit too long at the office water cooler or pantry – as opposed to bunking off work wholesale. Nothing actually morally incriminating.

figmaofmyimagination · 31/01/2023 23:48

Whenever the police reporting is odd like this it’s almost always because they know more than they are letting on, isn’t it.

I feel so sad for her tonight, and all who love her. Hope and pray that tomorrow brings answers.

arghtriffid · 31/01/2023 23:53

Yes I agree fig and with northernlites post it just makes that even more likely.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 31/01/2023 23:53

Her poor family. I’m trying not to dwell on it in a nosey way, but it’s so upsetting to imagine what they’re going through.

Mushroo · 31/01/2023 23:53

I don’t think the fact she was on a Teams call implies she was ‘bunking off’ at all.

Lots of workplaces actively encourage going for walks during update calls - it’s boosts mental health and productivity.

I really hope she is found soon, it’s such a hard hitting case as the circumstances feel so familiar - anyone could be on a dog walk in the day time.

FrogFairy · 31/01/2023 23:54

It has been reported that an abandoned house opposite the bench is being searched.

Where is this reported?

Stomacharmeleon · 31/01/2023 23:19

@lucya66 that's a shitty thing to insinuate..

No it isn’t, the statistics re missing women and how many of them are harmed by their partners don’t lie.

FrogFairy · 01/02/2023 00:02

The Daily Mail, so not some random online forum. I would hope that this is correct if they are reporting it.

CharlotteRose90 · 01/02/2023 00:05

It’s been reported now they are looking at the abandoned house across the river.

Hearmeout · 01/02/2023 00:15

I also live locally and know the river well, having searched it thoroughly for a friend's missing dog just over a year ago. The dog went missing on a walk next to the river with no sign of him being in the water literally seconds later, however he was unfortunately found some weeks later further up stream. The river is deceiving.

I don't think it is the done thing for the police to say of anybody missing by water that they've probably gone into it, it just usually becomes apparent a little time later, unfortunately, when the water gives up the person/animal.

I don't want this to be the case, but I think it's an awful accident and time will tell.

Why is it shitty to tell people she was in a Teams meeting if she was in a Teams meeting?

Chowtime · 01/02/2023 00:20

SummerWinds · 30/01/2023 21:47

I think the dog got into trouble regarding the river and she tried helping him, her belongings were found on a nearby bench, and dog was found close by, he hadn't gone back home, she took there everyday by sound of it.

Yes. I agree I think this is the most likely scenario.
