BBC News - Nicola Bulley: Partner describes perpetual hell over missing mum
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-64450243

Just been reading about this. How awful for her partner and children. Really hope she is found soon

@TintyMinty thanks, yes all of those are plausible aren't they. I hope it's that's they've found her, it maybe he a horrendous outcome but the not knowing would be destroying me and my kids.

itsnote · 02/02/2023 13:25

@Catstaps the river is as low as half a metre at low tide. Which it was and it's not fast flowing at that point either.

You obviously don't know the area or the case because search and rescue were in the water hours after she was last seen. They've been searching ever since.

TintyMinty · 02/02/2023 13:27

I think the parents words reflect “hope” in their trauma as if she was abducted their is a chance she is still alive whereas if she is in the water either by accident, suicide or foul play that’s an intolerable idea for them.

TintyMinty · 02/02/2023 13:12

Surely pointless now?!
This is feeling like major police incompetence...

TessasFoot · 02/02/2023 13:30

I walk my dog in pretty isolated places and, not to sound facetious, I sometimes have to pee behind a tree or whatever, so will walk further into the wooded are so no inspecting dog walker spots me in the act. Could something like this have happened and she lost her footing and felling the river?

What would be intreating to know is did anyone at the camp site, the owner of the abandoned house or any other dog walkers hear either ongoing barking or screams for help at that time?

ofwarren · 02/02/2023 13:36

I can't read as behind a paywall.
Have the police just cordoned off the little area near the bench?
Is there still access to the scrubby area next to it?

ofwarren · 02/02/2023 13:40

Sounds like just the bench bit then.
Seems pointless now because there have even been reporters sat on there while filming.

Moonlightdust · 02/02/2023 13:41

6 days later they tape off the bench and surrounding area? Surely it’s too late now for forensics if the public have had access to it all this time? Also the Diver only instructed today. That poor family.

Catstaps · 02/02/2023 13:41

They’ve probably cordoned it off to stop people coming and looking whilst they search an in case they bring her body up.

Catstaps · 02/02/2023 13:43

I know the response was quick but the specialist diving team would have taken a while to organise. The initial search would have been more superficial.

Good point
Maybe the diver has found something

itsnote · 02/02/2023 13:46

You said they probably didn't start searching the river for a couple of days. They certainly did.

That the dog might have just wet it's legs. No, not possible at that spot.

itsnote · 02/02/2023 13:49

They won't want a crowd watching the divers either. It's I hope the family get some answers. I'd expect a police statement soon.

Catingle · 02/02/2023 14:16

Oh I do hope the poor family have answers soon. She is the same age as me and our children are also the same ages. I keep thinking about those poor girls not knowing what has happened to their mum.

Update from lancashire police

The specialist divers would likely have been there within hours at that time of day, and that’s only if they were already on another job.

HART teams can get there immediately.

there’s a lot of “probably”’s in your posts, are you speculating or is any of it based on expertise or knowledge of search and rescue/police procedure?

NothingButAWalkover · 02/02/2023 14:56

BBC just released picture of woman in red coat with a white dog, potential witness they are looking for.

Nicola Bulley: Family of missing dog walker say her 'children need her home' and they are 'stuck in a nightmare'

ScandinavianSkies · 02/02/2023 15:10

So that potential witness hasn't come forward before now? So it is possible she or someone else put the phone on the bench.

User435787532 · 02/02/2023 15:10

Devastating. Praying for the family.

The person who put the phone on the bench has spoken to the police. She apparently contacted either a family member or the school, can't remember which but then had to go to an appointment so put the phone on the bench.

ScandinavianSkies · 02/02/2023 15:15

@ofwarren
Oh thanks, I'd missed that.
