no comments on opinion - just comments on reported info during trial

Please let's not get this thread deleted people.

Anyone following along? I'm curious as to the silence on the Sky News site where earlier and yesterday there were posts every 10/15minutes there's been nothing for hours.

I'm glad you're not on the jury.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 11/10/2022 13:19

I've reported the comment and asked the thread stand (with that comment removed).

I hate that we cannot discuss facts on current events without people making assumptions and accusations and causing the threads to be removed.

People are so ridiculous. We know nothing about what happened. Let us see what evidence emerges first.

Thinking of all families involved.

Oh you don’t believe in awaiting the Jury's verdict then? You sound like the type that turns up outside the court to scream hysterically at a van 🙄

This is the thread that is currently running. I think MNHQ wants it to stay on one thread.

Innocent until proven guilty is out the window with you.

Nothing I've heard so far today has been anything other than highly doubtful (too much time on Facebook does not maketh a murderer) , so there is a very long way to go to build a convincing case, let alone a guilty verdict.

AutumnScream · 11/10/2022 13:27

Does anyone know why the press can release her name and photos if its not yet proven shes guilty?

That's UK law

It's always been this way in the UK. Many innocent lives have been ruined as a result. I think anonymity until verdict is one of the biggest changes and improvements we could make in the UK justice system.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/10/2022 13:31

Don't forget that she is innocent until proven otherwise.

Steady on, at least await the outcome of the trial first.

Christopher Jefferies is always the person who springs to mind as an example of how terribly a persons life can be ruined in this way.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 11/10/2022 13:40

Didn't realise there was a (standing) existing thread, I thought they had all gone.

@Ithoughtthiswastherehearsal
I won't dignify that appalling comment by quoting it and hopefully it will soon be removed, but the reason we have trials is to establish guilt before punishment; and the reason we don't have capital punishment is that we wish to be a civilised society, and that is assuming we actually get the verdict right, because sometimes we don't - especially in emotive cases where juries can be caught up in the same kind of self-righteous anger as you are.

Whatever the verdict I’m sure it’s enough to put you in an early grave.
How do yo7 sleep at night with your child in prison?

Stefan Kiszko was in jail for decades after a full trial of "compelling evidence". Her was innocent. Two days of edited highlights in a case that is predicted to last 6 months is not evidence of guilt. Please leave presumptions of guilt to the judge and jury. This is not the place for them.

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 11/10/2022 13:57

I just stated facts .... I'll say it again

She's been on remand for years!!!

Yes absolutely i always think of him in these cases. What if she is innocent she will never work in her field ever again. Not saying she is innocent of course but until the trial concludes we dont know.

Lockdown? An inadequate court system (criminal barristers have been pushed to the point of strict action)? A complex case?

Choose whichever reason(s) you want to from above, but non of them indicate guilt in any way.

You know full well that wasn't all you said. Stefan Kiszko was jailed for decades. That is also a fact. He was innocent. That is a fact. It is the responsibility of a court of law - not the police, the CPS or a remand system, to establish guilt, and sometimes even then they get it wrong. There is a reason why we do not leave "justice" to the mob, and this thread is proving why that is.

Stripyhoglets1 · 11/10/2022 15:33

I am keeping an open mind - but just wanted to say that I really hope there is good evidence of wrongdoing - as the alternative is a huge miscarriage of justice.

There is no way the press can report everything and this will be a huge task for the jury to follow and decide on each charge.
