Desperately hoping her family get some answers this time.

Sounds like progress is being made

Hundreds of kids have gone missing since. Wheres their publicity? Why do their parents not matter?

Shallwedancetomojito · 04/06/2020 12:32

And why are the papers running with this story today, when it was made public on the 5th May?

Who says other parents don't matter? Of course they do.

Madeine McCann happened to be a high profile case, partly because she was taken while holidaying abroad. Ben Needham was the same and we've had some here that have had an equally high profile, I can even remember the children's names, but have been solved.

Don't be mean about the McCann's, they are two ordinary parents who need closure.

I really hope this guy has real information for the police. It's a fact that people like him boast about things they haven't done when they are in prison or with others of like mind - he could have been lying but what I think is significant is that he was questioned about this case years ago but not followed up because of insufficient evidence.

If this is a real lead it would be a good but sad thing for the family after all these years.

Typohere · 04/06/2020 12:39

I watched the news. The suspect is a horrible individual.

If he did it then I hope he gives some information of her whereabouts.

I feel for her parents - unbelievably sad and distressful

CoronaIsShit · 04/06/2020 12:43

Not sure about progress! There’s reportedly no DNA evidence so it sounds like just another scumbag in the the right place at the right time.

I’m still can’t get over the UK owned and trained sniffer dogs being totally discounted and a full investigation of the people who last saw her alive being prevented from being carried out.

Shallwedancetomojito · 04/06/2020 12:45

If the McCanns had been a working class family from Dewsbury and not middle class doctors, you can bet your bottom dollar that this would have all been forgotten about two weeks after it happened. And of course the working class parents would have been prosecuted for child abandonment.

Ben Needham from Boston we never hear about him.

WhatWouldDominicDo · 04/06/2020 12:46

I've just received a BBC update to my phone to the effect that the German police consider MM to be dead. I'm not sure that really counts as breaking news.

We do hear about Ben Needham. He certainly hasn't been forgotten.

The McCanns are a perfectly ordinary family for goodness sakes. Take the chip of your shoulder and have compassion. Yours was such a mean post I could hardly believe what I read. Do you not want Madeline McCann's abductor to be found just because the McCanns earn £x more than you?

Shallwedancetomojito · 04/06/2020 13:15

@Lynda07 And what makes you assume that the McCanns earn more money than me?

I really don't have any chip on my shoulder, I'm just pointing out legitimate facts. Ben Needham doesn't get half the publicity that MM does and that for me is not fair justice.

potter5 · 04/06/2020 13:20

Nana on the Jeremy Vine programme today said that if it had been a black 3 year old child that had been abducted then there would have been no publicity because she is black. Does anyone agree with this statement?

Shallwedancetomojito · 04/06/2020 13:31

@potter5 of course that would be the case. But now we're going to attract the racist police 🙄

So let's give it another spin. If a mum left her kids in a chalet at butlins to have a couple of beers in the pub, she would have immediately been labeled an unfit mum, she would have been charged for neglect and the case would have very quickly been dropped.

So why do the McCanns get treated so differently?

And why is this all front page news today, how convenient.

chrislilleyswig · 04/06/2020 13:39

I never understand posts like yours Shallwedance

If they'd been prosecuted for neglect would that have made you feel better. Would you have some empathy then.

Honestly if we ever get to the truth I hope the McCanns solicitors sues the fuck out of all those "expert" Sun readers that have libelled and slandered two parents they have to live with the fact that they left their daughter and some sick lowlife took her

ilovemydogandMrObama · 04/06/2020 13:42

Wow, there must be new evidence as apparently his name was given to police in 2017.

Not in the UK, the police mount extensive searches and investigations for all missing children here. Nothing would surprise me about America though.

However that has nothing to do with Madeline McCann. She has been missing for many years and no amount of publicity has found her. The same goes for Ben Needham. I hope there are some genuine results now for Madeline's family's sake.

potter5 · 04/06/2020 13:50

I think it is very sad to vilify the parents. They have had 13 years of heartache.

Am hoping that she is still alive but it's not looking too good according to the latest reports and the press conference in Germany.

Just thought that the comment today on the JV programme didn't help.

Shallwedancetomojito · 04/06/2020 14:16

If MM was black there is no way they would have kept the case open for 13 years still searching, the child would have been presumed dead after 7 years the most.

And lo and behold, BLM is allover the social media with no news reports. And they now want to bring MM to the forefront again to drown out the background noise and divert the attention elsewhere. A year ago (May 2019) this story came about, and they want to slap it all over the tabloids today.

Now if that's not racism then I don't know what is.

Lynda07 · 04/06/2020 14:17

I just read the latest on the Madeline investigation from the Guardian and, yes, it does appear the German police are treating it as a murder case. Very sad indeed.

We hear about Ben Needham ALL THE TIME Hmm
notchickenagain · 04/06/2020 14:28

@Shallwedancetomojito are you very unhappy? I see your name pop up on threads all over the place, always with the same agenda. I'd tell you to fuck off but that would probably make you post more of your uneducated drivel, so instead I'll just pity you.

Shallwedancetomojito · 04/06/2020 14:41

No, we do not hear about Ben Needham all the time, if we do it's just this...

www.itv.com/news/calendar/2019-10-29/family-of-missing-ben-needham-vow-to-continue-fighting-for-truth-as-they-mark-his-30th-birthday/

Bottom of the article "police believe Ben died as a result of an accident"
They're basically dismissing he could still be alive and that he is now dead because he's not important to them.
All because MM parents are friends with George Osbourne and middle class they get all the funding.
And BN mum gets told they have no government money to spare.

It's disgusting.

Shallwedancetomojito · 04/06/2020 15:09

@notchickenagain

The only person who needs pity around here is you. There's some very rude people around here. I've noticed a lot of people getting bashed on threads from people like you just because they're not in agreement with.

Tell me to fuck off it won't stop me voicing my opinions.

Have a nice day.

Unfortunately, yes

Shallwedancetomojito · 04/06/2020 15:52

Its not a competition about which missing child case is worst. They're all dreadful. However in Feb 1990 a 5 month old Ames Glover was snatched from a car in west London. His parents and many more people were investigated and he's never been found. He'd be 31 now and he's black.

Philip Hensher once wrote words to the effect of, it being harder to make a story out of a missing black child than about one with blonde hair and blue eyes.

And how right was he.
