Do you think we will have a firmer lock down in the UK?
Like Italy as people are not taking this seriously.

OP posts:
PrincessMargaret · 26/03/2020 21:13

Sadly I think people WILL start take it more seriously when more people die.

Samcro · 26/03/2020 21:14

I think they will have to. Sadly to many peopl think the rules don't appy to them. I think the exercise thing will go as it so open to abuse,

niffynoonoo · 26/03/2020 21:16

i think so. too many not getting it! I think more enforcement as well.

PinglePongle · 26/03/2020 21:16

Hope so, just to prevent my employer making everyone come in unnecessarily when we can work from home. Pretty sure there's many others doing the same

BillieEilish · 26/03/2020 21:17

Yes. You need it.

SoleBizzz · 26/03/2020 21:18

See people here driving awy with their family and friends from different households. Cheers. You selfish idiots. People on Facebook asking for handymen to decorate their house thi week and garden ers etc

SoleBizzz · 26/03/2020 21:18

My friend in Ohio says the same about her neighbourhood.

HauntedHats · 26/03/2020 21:19

My fucking twat of a partner is still having to go to work, they don't need more than one person in the office but have to go in, seriously I want him to fuck off! I'm type 1 diabetic so vulnerable and he won't even ring in sick 😷😠

Isadora2007 · 26/03/2020 21:20

Maybe London or bigger cities should have stricter enforcements first as they’re at highest risk. It seems weird my friends in Orkney are under the same strict regulations with no confirmed cases on the island as those in London.

Medievalist · 26/03/2020 21:22

We're meant to hit a peak in 2-3 weeks and the current lockdown is 3 weeks. So yes, I think it will be extended. I think we were told 3 weeks to make it more palatable. Easier to accept a long lock down in smaller chunks.

coffeeandcreamer · 26/03/2020 21:23

I think/hope so.

I'm lucky enough to live in what's considered a beauty spot (a bay) and has lots of visitors in the summer. Due to the lovely weather is it CROWDED. Whole families of 6 sat having picnics etc. I really feel for families with children having to keep them cooped up indoors but seriously when will they realise out for essentials/exercise only. Not to sit on a beach all day looking at seagulls Angry

So yes I think we will end up with stricter measure and I hope it's sooner rather than later.

Kinneddar · 26/03/2020 21:23

I think the exercise rule will be first to go. If threads on here are anything to go by too many people are using it as an excuse to do do other things. I think itll soon be work for essential workers only and food shopping

ZombieFan · 26/03/2020 21:24

What exactly do you want locked down more?
In Italy you can still go to work, to the food shops and go out for exercise. How is our lock down different from Italy's?

coffeeandcreamer · 26/03/2020 21:26

I think just enforced more. Stop groups hanging around in parks etc. I've seen a little of this happening but not enough.
Also, being able to drive somewhere to go for a walk/walk your dog just seems ridiculous to me

Inappropriatefemale · 26/03/2020 21:27

A man I know told a friend of mine that someone he knew went to Asda knowing full well he had CVAngry and this makes my fucking blood boil!

eaglejulesk · 26/03/2020 21:32

What exactly do you want locked down more?

In NZ the only people allowed to go to work are those in essential services. We can't order takeaways, or shop online for non-essentials, we can only buy Lotto tickets online (even though supermarkets sell tickets they aren't allowed to), and a chain of butchers has just been told they have to close. The UK's lockdown seems a very half-hearted thing to me. I also heard someone on the radio here yesterday say "don't follow in the footsteps of the UK, take the lockdown seriously".

We are allowed out to exercise, and everyone I saw yesterday was following the rules.

WeAllHaveWings · 26/03/2020 21:33

I think the exercise rule will be first to go.

Agree. Too many are using it for non essential reasons but have justifications for it in their own minds.

ZombieFan · 26/03/2020 21:37

In the long run how many people will die if we have military law and bring in a curfew, shutting all business and banning all exercise?

AlexaAmbidextra · 26/03/2020 21:51

I agree. But if you venture that opinion on here you’re called the Stasi. All those people who thronged the seaside resorts and National Trust parks last weekend would likely have said they were ‘exercising’ if challenged. Too many people have used it as an excuse to have a day out but like always, the selfish have ruined it for everyone else. We were trusted to play by the rules but too many thought they were the exception so now we’ll probably have no choice.

Parker231 · 26/03/2020 21:56

It Italy you can only exercise within 300m of your home and I saw a report today where they were saying that outside exercise may be banned.

1984isnow · 26/03/2020 22:00

zombiefan having just read that the current legislation is for 6 months, not 3 weeks, I am extremely concerned about my nan. She lives alone and partially sighted so can't go out on her own, I'm usually with her. I'm speaking to her 3 or 4 times every day, trying to be cheery, but I am so terrified I won't even see her again, if she's just in alone in her house for so long.

This will be the death of so many, whether they get the virus or not.

VanGoghsDog · 26/03/2020 22:01

Well, since my halfwit ex bil decamped there with his family, from London, I expect there will be some cases soon.

DontCallMeShitley · 26/03/2020 22:21

I hope we do, but like everything else it will come too late. It needs to be done now.

middleager · 26/03/2020 22:28

It can't come soon enough.

The tube, the builders, the bosses, my aunt who 'nips' out every day and went to Wickes, my neighbours who 'popped' to the garden centre, the window cleaner, the takeaways, my SIL up the stables twice daily, the golfers.

The list goes on and on.

And when the selfish dickheads realise this is actually serious, it'll be far too late Sad

In the words of the Kaiser Chiefs, ' I predict a riot'.
