When you don't think carefully about it first - this might happen. (Thanks to DH for sending that to me.)

In a school that I used 2 work in their was a boy called Ronnie Mc Donald & I also knew a Leah Jet!

Dh went to school with twins called A Nurse and P Nurse. It was the practice to use surnames only, but because there were two they used the initials. Poor kids. (Soupy - wonder if it was the same one?)

bonym · 05/10/2004 17:14

A friend of mine has a dentist called Richard (Dick) Seaman and someone else I know had married clients Mr& Mrs Fish - their initials were R.A.W. and C.

I was at school with a Tamsin Packs. We stopped calling her Tam when we were about 13.....

A friend had a sales rep turn up at his work and present himself as "Scratcher. Dick Scratcher." Said friend apparently fell off chair laughing. I recall seeing the chap's card - and he definitely didn't use the name Richard.

throckenholt · 05/10/2004 21:25

I had a teacher called Beverly Hills (man), another called Holly Berry, and a neighbour called Olive Bush.

Also knew someone once called Wendy Lovatt - middle name May.

edam · 05/10/2004 21:37

I once posted about my old biology teacher, Miss Virgin...

womba1 · 05/10/2004 21:51

I also went to school with a Wayne King...his sister was Jo King and they had a brother called Mark King. Their parents must have had a real sense of humour!!
My Dad used to work for a Japanese firm and his boss's surname was Yutu...his first name was Fuk... put them together and what have you got... [grin}

LouBeeLou · 06/10/2004 13:13

Along the same lines as Carey Hunt, I used to go to school with a lad called Martin Fountain.

My dentist is called Mr Tee Pee (he's Chinese so I suppose his parents didn't think it funny at all...)

smokey · 08/10/2004 14:03

My infant school headmistress was called Miss Isles.

Aero · 11/10/2004 12:08

We have a Turkish friend called Fahte (pronounced fah tee) (his ex used to refer to him as Mr pants).
Also, my sister referred to someone she went to school with called Philip McCracken - called Phil by everyone. This 'cracked' me up!! For anyone who doesn't get it, it can sound like this: Fill m' crack in!

suzywong · 11/10/2004 12:11

I don't get Martin Fountain. Am I being dim?

Aero · 11/10/2004 12:13

Evening suzy! Have just been trying to call my aussie friend!
I think the idea is to swap the M with the F!! Have only just got it myself!

Bunglie · 11/10/2004 12:57

Acnebride....I think we knew the same man, for some reason he never liked being called Mike, his parents were mormons and seriously to this day do not realise what they did to their son, (nice man though) by giving him this name.
I knew a Colin Owen Jones... that meant his inial and surname was C.O.Jones, and Cojones means 'balls' in spanish (i am told!).

The worst is a girl I went to school with, she was called Susamn Melling...poor girl, that mad her a 'S MELLING' she married young!

Bunglie · 11/10/2004 12:59

No Suzywong you are not being 'dim' I don't get it either?

suzywong · 11/10/2004 12:59

SPRAY!
thanks aero!

suzywong · 11/10/2004 13:00

My grandpa was Sidney Melling

Bunglie · 11/10/2004 13:03

Ooh! Suzywong...he couldn't evenmarry to get rid off it, but did he get teased or did he find it funny himself?

My father got teased a lot at school as his middle name was Ninian...I don't (nor ever have) find it funny am I missing something?

suzywong · 11/10/2004 13:06

I don't think he did, although I'm not sure he had much of a sense of humour

He was 6 foot 3 and bald as a coot and it always makes me laugh when I hear of American starlets called Sidney

Ninian, that's rather nice.
