I couldn’t bear to read the whole report, all I can imagine is the awful, awful lives those children had and the fear they must have felt.
You feel for their children but not for the children they were? If they hadn't tried to kill the children it's very possible they would have grown up to do terrible things as well, there was clearly a cycle of abuse in this family.
On the BBC website it says the mother messaged a friend saying "I love my kids too much to kill them, I can't put them into care for the same reason." The fact that she chose to kill them could be taken as a damning indictment of the 'care' system, which she, after all, had experienced. Certainly being in care doesn't seem to have actually helped her achieve a better outcome in life.
The whole thing is just tragic, more so because I'm sure something could have been done to prevent it.
