At least they got a decent sentence. Given that we can't string these bastards up in public (and I would happily pay to watch), I hope that life means exactly that in this case.

i dont think you can blame the drugs, the man must have been evil through and through, and how a mother can let that happen to her child is beyond me.

lyrasdaemon · 10/08/2007 17:18

Perhaps this actually strengthens the case for legalisation of cannabis. It was said that McKenzie-Seaton would go into a violent rage when he could not get hold of the drug, so perhaps this would not have happened if he had been able to go to his local shop and buy it with no more difficulty than buying a pack of cigarettes, instead of being dependent on unreliable drug-pushers.

goingfor3 · 10/08/2007 17:23

I don'tr think you can blame the drugs, they were evil people. Making cannabis legal would not have made any difference, finding £140 a week to spend on drugs is probably what gave him problems getting it.

jimmyjamas · 10/08/2007 17:25

canabis should not be legal. Wasn't it on the news that this stuff can make people sczitzophrenic.

Whenever u hear of child abuse cases the majority of time the abusers are users of canabis.

That monster that murdered that little 13 months old boy was a canabis user also.

like i said, people with drug problems should have their kids taken off them ASAP.

WideWebWitch · 10/08/2007 17:29

vile. how sad

divastrop · 10/08/2007 17:32

i really dont see what the drugs have to do with it,though.im sure there are plenty of drug users who dont abuse their children.they may be more likely to neglect them, yes(due to spending money on drugs and being unable to care for children properly whilst high or stoned or whatever),but i think evil twunts like this would beat the crap out of defensless children even if they'd never touched a drug.

Cammelia · 10/08/2007 17:33

I think the Social Services have a lot to answer for this one, they can't have checked the child properly nor followed up to see that she was still at nursery.

tiredemma · 10/08/2007 17:33

Skunk has been proven to cause 'skunk induced psychosis'

In 10 years time there will be an epidemic of this illness in the uk, predominantly in males aged in their twenties to thirties.

So my mental health mentor tells me.

jimmyjamas · 10/08/2007 17:39

Like i said, canabis makes people go out of their minds. Of course this isn't an excuse for dispicable behaviour towards an innocent child, the neglect of a child is bad enough because the money is being spent on drugs and not food for the child, but it also proves this is what can happens when ppl can't get their hand on drugs.

Kids need to be taken into care if they have druggie parent.

SleeplessInTheStaceym11House · 10/08/2007 17:46

im sat in tears for this poor little girl, jesus my dh wanted to kick the cat (he didnt btw) because he scratched the babies leg while trying to play, what d'you think we'd do if someone acctually hurt either of our dc's?!?!

how the mothre let this happen i dont know. may your soul rest in peace darling girl!

tiredemma · 10/08/2007 18:05

Sky News says that they have been sentenced already.

Life. Each with a minimum tarif of 23 years.

Good.

NadineBaggott · 10/08/2007 18:08

'inadequate' just about covers it.

bastards

Marne · 10/08/2007 18:12

This is so

And so so sick that a woman could harm her own child

I dont think 23 years is long enough for what they have done and i hope they get the shit kicked out of them in jail

nightshade · 10/08/2007 18:19

for once expat, have to agree with you. where was her father, extended family etc?

yes ss may have messed up again although its always easy to blame them.

keep the blame where it should be, with the parents!

Peachy · 10/08/2007 18:28

jimmyjamas the guidelines on drugs and referrals to SS I ahd in my last job stated it was only an isue if both aprents were simultanreously using

Scootergrrrl · 10/08/2007 18:29

Father was sobbing in court as they were sentenced apparently.

The mum tried to say she never hurt her and told him to stop. She was also taken to hospital 8 times how can no one of noticed surely the nursery should have contacted someone to say she wasnt turning up?

L

bookwormtailmum · 10/08/2007 19:00

I hope heads will roll at Kirklees SS - how many more children are going to be killed before lessons are learnt?

Poor little mite - it made my blood run cold to read it. How can people do such things to innocent children??

ScoobyDooooo · 10/08/2007 19:03

Well what an awfully sad situation & those bastards deserve everything they get, sorry but it sounds like the system did fail this poor little girl, what a life.

tiredemma · 10/08/2007 19:19

They will be terrorised every day in prison.

This happened just a few miles down the round from us

Unbelievable.

nightshade · 10/08/2007 19:43

just to put it in perspective, health visiting, GP adn hospital all would have been involved prior to social services.

child protection is meant to be inter agency working.
