I was. I have chosen NOT to tell my nearly 4yo about this. I haven't discussed it in detail with 9yo ds either I CHOOSE not to put the news on in our house. I really resent this being shoved at my children before a U cert movie. Completely inappropriate imo.

Yes.
I've emailed customer services at Odeon to object about this.
Grotesque lapse of judgment.

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 01/07/2007 20:03

IMO too yes.

I have had people wanting to discuss in front of my children FFS. I make wild hand gestures and point to the kids.

Blandmum · 01/07/2007 20:03

Didn't happen when we saw Sherk

SaintGeorge · 01/07/2007 20:03

Snort, that's because you went to see the wrong film mb.

Peachy · 01/07/2007 20:04

They did a prayer service for Madeleine at our school without reference to the aprents- are you sure your kids don't already know?

WideWebWitch · 01/07/2007 20:04

I'm going to email the Odeon too.

Completely agree. I took 5 year old dd and felt the same.

BreeVanDerCamp · 01/07/2007 20:04

Seriously I would be incandescent with rage.

Took my 5 yo and 7 yo to cinema this sfternoon. We have talked about this a bit, but I wasnot happy to have words like abducted and snatched used, when in a cinema you cannot distract the DC or turn it off. Unnecessary and inappropriate I agree.

WideWebWitch · 01/07/2007 20:05

Well ds does but dd goes to nursery where I know they haven't discussed it. She's 3 and it's up to me to decide if/when to tell her this sort of stuff.

Also emailed the cineworld cinema we visited yesterday. Agree very inappropriate.

SaintGeorge · 01/07/2007 20:05

Sorry, serious thread.

They did a prayer in assembly at our school too Peachy, but phrased it very carefully for 'lost children'.

bakedpotato · 01/07/2007 20:05

My daughter did not know.
The word 'snatched' was used.
'Mummy, who is that little girl? Who snatched her?'

Enid · 01/07/2007 20:06

dh said it wasnt shown at Cineworld

thank goodness

after my run in with them over the Severance poster I dont think I could bear another fight

Enid · 01/07/2007 20:06

I agree WWW. but my almost-4 year old was in sthe service at school 9fortuntely wouodn't have understood but ds1 and ds2 did) so I do wonder how much our kids know without us having told them, iyswim

anchovies · 01/07/2007 20:07

3 year old DS asked why the little girl had been snatched and couldn't find her mummy and daddy. Luckily he didn't dwell on it but I was very upset, there was no distracting him. Completely inappropriate for a young child's trip to the cinema.

WideWebWitch · 01/07/2007 20:07

This was the Odeon in Milton Keynes this afternoon.

maisym · 01/07/2007 20:08

Agree that it's not the place for this info - it's a kids cinema film.

MrRuffalo · 01/07/2007 20:08

it is real life

Enid · 01/07/2007 20:08

yes its the last thing dd1 needs atm

I know they have NOT discussed it at dd1s school as the headmistress felt it was a job for parents to do if they felt it was necessary

WideWebWitch · 01/07/2007 20:08

Peachy, I'd have been cross with them too. have just emailed the odeon

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 01/07/2007 20:08

come on, THREE year olds DO NOT need to know about 'real life'
